This is a quick take on the creation of Equestria and some extremely early history.

This is a story idea I had when I woke up in the morning that just wouldn't go away until I wrote it. I mean it to be an interesting think-piece, enjoy it as you will.

Celestia doesn't begin the day as the Princess everypony admires. No, she begins it as a tired Alicorn just getting out of bed...

Basically, I've been reading fanfics and noticed a lot of writers manage to take an extremely simple premise and turn it into a good story. Well, I wanted to do that myself and see if I could actually make it work.

In this case, simple: Princess Celestia's morning. I tried my best to make a cute little funny, engaging story out of it. Hope I succeeded!

And for once, no real spoilers except for a few mentions of IDW! Enjoy!

After Twilight’s coronation all the girls go to the bar to have some drinks. Unfortunately Celestia can’t hold her liquor.

Princess Celestia, in her infinite wisdom, comes to the conclusion that she doesn't have anywhere near enough time to do everything on her busy schedule. Not a problem for her, though. The solution to having no time is obvious: just make some more.

After Celestia humiliates her at a dinner, Luna storms off and ends up snooping around in her sister's room. There, she stumbles upon the journal Celestia kept immediately after the banishment of Nightmare Moon.

Unwilling to watch her sister suffer under apathy and indecision, Luna takes it upon herself to help Celestia confront her newfound feelings.

In which Celestia learns a distressing new fact about her recently-banished sister, in which the author learns that he is apparently capable of pranking himself, and in which many lapses in judgment are displayed on both sides of a metaphysical divide.

Dark magic. It twists and corrupts the mind and soul. It makes its user power hungry, a hunger impossible to sate. And Twilight Sparkle fell prey to its corruption. Now it lands on the shoulders of Celestia to stop her once faithful student from destroying Equestria in her search for power. Only one problem.

Twilight is her foster daughter.
