Twilight Sparkle has been called to Canterlot on royal business: a university's archeology department needs help with a tricky project. All very routine and hum-drum for her... but for Rainbow Dash, it's a chance to get an inside view of the exciting and fast-paced world of ancient history! But how much does she really know about the field? A chance meeting with a larger-than-life pony teaches her about the difference between reality and imagination.

Rainbow Dash was astonished when she encountered the real life Derring-Do that inspired her favorite string of novels, but was crushed to learn that her hero wasn't what she expected at all. The two parted ways in anger, but Dash hasn't given up on her completely: When an opportunity arises to heal the professor's crippled wing, Dash and Derring go on a real life adventure... but adventures have a way of spiraling out of control. The bookish archeologist knows nothing about swinging from vines and swiping ancient idols (and she prefers it that way), but an unbreakable curse of death forces her to dive right into a frantic race for the greatest discovery of all time: the secret to immortality itself.

Whether she believes it or not, Derring-Do has only a few short weeks left to live. But with the incomparable Rainbow Dash by her side, that's more than enough time to save the world.

Rainbow Dash just wants a bottle of Dr. Pony from the vending machine. Is that too much to ask?

It's Rainbow's birthday! And her friends have a huge surprise planned out. Will it make Rainbow happy? Yes! Will they get hurt or injured? Probably. Will they make it out alive? Probably not.

There's been another sighting of the mysterious Mare Do Well...but this time, all of Rainbow Dash's friends plead ignorance, insisting that they've put aside their costumes for good. Rainbow Dash is determined to uncover the masked mare's true identity before she's humiliated yet again, but this time around, the vigilante seems especially interested in her as well. Will Rainbow Dash be able to solve the mystery before the culprit takes the hoax too far? Or is she in danger of losing not only her mind, but her heart?

Depressed from boredom and being envious of her friends having found places in life they are happy with and of course Twilight being an alicorn princess now while she's still trying to get somewhere in life, Rainbow Dash is not in the best of moods, and the arrival of a certain draconequus chaos god isn't making it any better! After reluctantly doing him a favor, Rainbow is offered any one wish she wants, with a pinkie promise of following her wish to the letter as a chance for him to further show how redeemed he is! Rainbow Dash has decided since each of her friends (aside from Rarity) have gotten a chance, she wants to give being The Mysterious Mare Do Well a try. The only problem? Ponyville is too peaceful. It seems all the craziness that had happened the past week has passed, and there really isn't any need for a costumed crime fighter now.

Twilight, seeing Rainbow Dash's annoyance at not being able to be a hero, takes it upon herself to help her friend experience a super hero adventure. By creating the powerful, the terrifying, the surprisingly sarcastic, Professor Nightshade.

Mare Do Well earned her place in the history books of Ponyville as one of its greatest protectors alongside the likes of Supermare and Batmare.
But Mare Do Well hung up her cape after teaching a lesson to one of the most egotistical mares in Ponyville.

So who is it on moonlit nights, that hops from rooftop to rooftop, who leaves crooks and con-stallions outside the doors of the watch-house, and who always arrives just in time?

Mare Do Well may have taught Rainbow Dash one unforgettable lesson, maybe Mare Do Better will teach her another.
