This chapter is rushed I guess. But hey I'm not setting out to write award winning story am I?
Rainbow Dash woke up and rubbed her eyes. She only remembered stuffing that delicious little cupcake in her mouth, asking Pinkie and AJ a question then passing out. She was going to have to give them a nice cupcake sized bruise.
Rainbow rubbed her head again. She noticed that her arms were of different color. She took a closer look and noticed her fur was now sandy brown. She found a little puddle of crystal clear water. She stared into it and found the one and only Daring Do staring back.
She tried to process what she saw. At first she thought that the puddle was a portal to a alternate dimension (Naturally). But upon closer inspection, she found out that she was Daring Do.
"OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH!"
Rainbow checked herself out, her mane was now three shades of gray, her coat completely sandy brown. She even had the costume. Even her cutie mark was now that of Daring's. Rainbow Dash tried to remember what she was supposed to do first.
"Oh right! Find the temple!"
Well, I guess this is the part where i'm supposed to tell you guys to go away if you don't want to read about how Rainbow Dash miserably failed everything. Though Dash will not fail instantly, she will fail eventually.
RD heard a growl come from somewhere. Rainbow came face to face with a full-grown tiger, thanks to a little training from Fluttershy, it was instructed to only snarl and roar so Rainbow wouldn't kill herself right away. Dash leaped backwards and stared at the tiger. She tried to remember exactly where Daring went.
"That way! I think."
Rainbow didn't care. She rushed for ward, weaving in and out of the trees, eventually she found herself facing the same obstacle Daring had faced. The chasm.
In the middle of the large hole was a vine. Rainbow leaped with all her might and caught the vine. She turned to do a raspberry to the large cat and ended up crashing back-first into the temple. Twilight and the gang, (Who were watching from the shadows) winced as they saw their friend slowly slide down the side of the temple.
"Was that supposed to happen?" Pinkie asked
She fell down and landed on the stone path that led to the huge majestic structure. She did a hoof pump, ignoring the intense pain in her spine. She walked up the stairs that led into the temple. And just as the book went, the smell of decay and danger hit Dash. Actually, the "decay" was just a bunch of dirty diapers that had been left out for the month (Don't tell Rainbow).
Dash walked through the dimly lit hallways. The bugs crawled around her hooves, luckily not a single one was crushed or squished much to the delight of Fluttershy. Except maybe that ladybug, and that scarab. Don't tell Flutters. Please.
Rainbow Dash stared at the bones that littered the hallways. These in fact were real bones, Pinkie had gave them to Twilight after she requested for them. How Pinkie got them nopony knows.
Shortly afterwards, Rainbow stepped on the pressure plate and three iron axes flew out of nowhere. Rainbow managed to duck, but she completely forgot about the pit. She fell in to the hole, it wasn't very deep, Rainbow could still poke her head out. She leaped out the hole just in time as the flamethrowers got to work and singed Rainbow's flank.
Rainbow proceeded to crawl forward as the alligator's came swinging down from the ceiling, again Fluttershy had trained them to only nip at Rainbow.
Rainbow Dash got up and leaped into the air as a huge iron ax came swinging and almost cut Rainbow in half. She made it across. The arrows were cut out, simply because Twilight knew for a fact that Rainbow would kill herself right there. She made it past the spikes in the hole (Which were foam by the way) and made it to the other side.
As soon as Dash reached the other end, the whole room shook as parts of the wall came crashing down. She slid down a vent before the traps could activate. She escaped arrow less, though the same couldn't be said for her hat. She plucked the arrows out and forged on.
"Wow she's doing better than I thought she would." Twilight mused
She scanned her surroundings and watched as a ray of sunshine revealed a blue statue, a two headed jackal? Wolf? Dog? had his paws on the emerald that was in his stomach.
Rainbow's eyes shone in excitement as she approached the Sapphire Statue. She suddenly remembered the floor boards. She stopped and examined the golden tiles. She already knew the original code, just step on the rats. Rainbow made her way across easy peasy lemon squeezy.
She climbed the stone pedestal that held the treasure. Instead of examining it like Daring did, she plucked the statue off the pedestal and prepared herself for the lava. She watched as the floorboards collapsed. Rainbow tried to remember what Daring had done.
"Oh yea! Hop on the columns."
The columns collapsed one by one, Rainbow Dash hopped her way towards freedom. She bit the edge and followed Daring's footsteps by getting blasted into the sky and crashing down hard on the dirt floor. The gang breathed a sigh of relief. For a moment there Rainbow Dash was legitimately in danger. That lava was for real.
Rainbow Dash looked up as the statue was picked up by the one the only Jason Vorhees! Naw just kidding. It was Ahuizotl. As mentioned before, Twilight had managed to transform a monkey into what it was now. But, she had managed to use a mind control spell so Ahuizotl wouldn't scratch his butt.
Again, as homage to the book, the damn primate blowed the cat whistle and the four felines showed up with their deadly assortment of weapons. Rainbow Dash sighed as Twilight tried her best to make the mutant primate laugh.
Eventually they tied Rainbow Dash up on some kind of altar. Surprisingly no rape occurs. Instead the makeshift Ahuizotl said the same words and pulls a lever, waves goodbye, and leaves with his cats, while the room begins to rumble. The walls start closing in, spikes extend from from sockets on the walls, spiders crawl over the spikes, cobras issue from the mouth of an ornament on the wall, and quicksand starts pouring into the room.
Rainbow tipped her hat off and slingshot it across the chamber, instead of ricocheting everywhere and eventually hitting the lever, the hat flew for about a millisecond and dropped down into the quicksand.
"For the love of-" Twillight said while doing a face hoof.
Rainbow panicked as the walls started to close in. Twilight used her magic to lift the lever up. The walls reverse, the sand lowers, and a door leading to the outside opens. She breaks free and says the four words that had originally come out of Daring's own mouth.
"Another day, another dungeon."
Dash quickly finds a vine and swings, searching for what was rightfully hers. She found Ahuizotl sitting on a throne, petting the house cat.
"With Daring Do out of the way, the world will suffer mightily at my hands. I am victorious!" He laughs maniacally and holds up the sapphire statue with his tail-hand.
Rainbow swings down on her vine and snatches the statue, but, instead of leaping off onto the ledge, she missed it, swung back down and continued swinging like a pendulum in front of Ahuizotl. Dash let out a shy laugh as the fake Ahuizotl facepalmed. He reached his hand out and with all his strength, pushed Rainbow. She swung and crashed into a tree. Double fail.
The gang rushed to her aid as Rainbow lied motionless. She was unconscious. How convenient.
"Well, we were going to just launch Pinkie out of the cannon. Looks like that won't be necessary." Twilight said
Applejack picked the motionless RD up and together they made their way back to Ponyville.
