She wanted peace. She wanted diplomacy. She wanted harmony and friendship.

She got war.

With the armies of the Changeling Lands marching through Equestria, overwhelming any and all resistance they encounter, Princess Celestia has had to resort to increasingly drastic measures to save her country and the ponies that live in it. But while her sister leads the armies from the front and her ponies fight and die in the name of princesses and country, Celestia feels useless and inadequate in Canterlot. After all, she was supposed to protect her precious little ponies. How had she failed them so badly?

Those doubts and worries gradually gnaw away at her, day after day and month after month. Until one day, she reaches a tipping point, the point of no return:

She will save Equestria, no matter what it takes.

When Rarity is being asked to give a fashion show in Canterlot, she can't resist. She has to go no matter what. The only problem happens to be that her friends find it rather fishy and don't want her to go. They know something that has happened to Rarity not too long ago. A thing that the seamstress can't remember herself. A fact they also want to keep that very way. Rarity knowing the answers about the events would be devastating.

Yet old enemies do tend to return at the most unexpected times. Some are blunt, quick to strike and defeated easily. Others, sit out their time. Manipulate those around them in believing they are good. Patience is a virtue, is often said. How long before the final blow can be given when that patience has already ran for a millennium? History tends to repeat itself and nightmares are the most powerful warnings that can be given. Nightmares of the past, preludes to the horrible future to come.

With no warning, the might of the Griffon kingdom descends upon Equestria. Twilight, in her desperation, teleports Spike as far away from the conflict as she can in the hope of saving his life. Completely lost for the first time in his life, Spike must learn how to survive in the world alone.

But, when he finds out about the fate of Equestria and what could possibly be happening to his friends, can Spike realize the true might that comes with being a dragon? And will it be enough to help him reclaim the only treasures he ever allowed himself to hoard: his friends?

Twilight Sparkle was presumed to be dead. Destroyed without even a body to bury, the young victim of a deadly magical surge that claimed the lives of many others along side her. More than a decade later, reports of a violent murder by a pony bearing her name are brought to Celestia and Luna's attention. A trail of carnage leading directly towards Canterlot's doorstep, brought by a pony who strikes without mercy. As Twilight approaches, in service to an unknown master, the Alicorn Sisters desperately try to uncover what happened all those years ago.

Welcome to the Empire of Equestria. The land is in turmoil, from ravaging tribes of minotaur, to the fierce nation of the griffons, there are not many places still safe, and soon there may be none.

The griffons have invaded and stolen a priceless artifact, one that could hold the fate of the world. With it lost, the world will slowly fall into chaos, leaving no peaceful land on which to live. No, not the kind Discord likes. Chaos among our feelings and our relationship with others. The process has already begun, with violent raids and even civil war springing up all over the Empire.

It has fallen to six ponies to save the world. They don't even know each other too well, but they will be forced to work as a team as they overcome the many obstacles that they must face. They will also make new friends, who will help them along their journey.

But in the end, it will be up to the six heroes to retrieve what was lost. Will they succeed, or will chaos ravage the land and even each other, breaking their will to go on?

Alright, let me clear up a few things.
1. This is a steam punk themed story (I think)
2. It is an alternate universe. As such, the characters have been modified slightly to fit their roles they play in this world. It is not set in the future or past of the MLP show. It is a whole new world. Also, the characters really don't have much knowledge of each other, sometimes not even knowing the other existed. And the fillies are all now teenagers, so they aren't quite as big as the others, but bigger than fillies.
3. There are a lot of characters in this story, but the ones that are shown below are simply the more important ones. I mean really. There's Vinyl Scratch, Lyra, Derpy, Doctor Whooves, etc.

The Royal Vault in Canterlot has been sealed to all bar the Princesses and Royal Guard; it is home to some of Equestria’s most dangerous or valuable treasures, such as the remains of the Nightmare Moon incident.

Fate is a tricky mistress; especially so when magic is involved, and now only a short time after the ascension of Twilight Sparkle a new trouble rears its head in Canterlot Castle, right in the bosom of its most secure facility. It’ll prove to be a political nightmare for the Princesses, especially shortly after Twilight Sparkle’s inauguration.

We follow in the hoofsteps of this… new bundle of fun.

Chaos runs rampant in the night. Screams of those innocent that are caught by the grime and filth of the criminal are never answered. The guard cannot keep up with all the crimes being commited. But thankfully for them and all of the ponies that live in Equestria, there is someone who watches from the shadows, one that stalks the stalkers. A silent guardian that brings vengance to those who deserve it. And they will be needed more than ever, as a group seeks to unleash a great evils back into the land. And it will be a day that no pony can forget. But just as there must be a day, there must also be a knight.

Sometimes all a pony wants is a second chance, another chance to redeem themselves or make up for something that they did wrong. To make it right. But the world isn't always willing to give them another chance and instead will hold them to what they did in the past instead of what they do in the present. Sometimes the world won't let go of what you used to be instead of who you are. Sometimes, it see's you as a monster.

Hidden away in the middle of all this is a single purple unicorn who braves the frozen wasteland, looking for a way to stop the weather and return the mythical sun to the sky. However, in a world without harmony, the task is far greater than she could ever know.

It is Hearth Warming Eve time and a tragic, sewer dwelling, Pegasus born with bat wings and a set of sharp teeth named Fluttershy Cobblewing AKA The Pegabat is planning to return to normal society after a lifetime living in the fringes of society which included a time being a sideshow freak at the circus and as a prisoner in a lab owned by the ghoulish and sadistic Crystal Emperor Sombra. Fueled by her cruel and horrific backstory she desperately longs to be accepted into society as a fellow pony not as a freakish monster at all costs. In order to achieve this she teams up with corrupt businesscolt Filthy Rich who wants to rule the city with The Pegabat as his puppet mayor by unleashing a horrific crime wave on citizens of Ponyville. But Ponyville's superhero Mare Do Well AKA Princess Twilight Sparkle is the only one who can stop The Pegabat and Filthy Rich's scheme. Based on Tim Burton's Batman Returns and Elfen Lied.
