Sometimes all a pony wants is a second chance, another chance to redeem themselves or make up for something that they did wrong. To make it right. But the world isn't always willing to give them another chance and instead will hold them to what they did in the past instead of what they do in the present. Sometimes the world won't let go of what you used to be instead of who you are. Sometimes, it see's you as a monster.

Sequel to a Dark Knight for Equestria and sister story to It runs in the Family.

The road of redemption is a hard one, indeed, looks like Trixie has gone into full anti-hero mode.

So far I like what I'm seeing. Especially at the end with Trixie giving not single fuck and just strolling on out. Keep it up!

Good opening, Trixie and the consequences of her actions was something I didn't consider so I look forward to seeing how this develops. :pinkiehappy:

A few spelling errors (though not very noticeable unless you're a very slow reader or just pay too much attention to detail), but other than that, it's a pretty good start for this story.

Not the the Questions.
Sombra is a main character here? Why do I get the the feeling he's the antagonist.
And the Diamond Dogs will either be comic relief or Sombras' Minions With an F in EVIL.

The Changeling tag and the OC tag both have me guessing their roles here.

"Follow In His Footsteps"? What happened to "It Runs In The Family"?:rainbowhuh:

3723765 They're two sister stories, as the description points out.

Why am I almost seeing Trixie as a magic version of Deathstroke for some reason

3723765
The first name was the original name of the batmare story before I changed it. Forgot to update it here.:derpytongue2:

this is going to be good. :pinkiehappy:
the story openning is very solid.

3723856 I'm waiting for the green lantern fic... :ajbemused:

Well, you definitely caught my interest. Been reading both and I mush say, I am impressed. I really want to read more. Keep it up!

3724290
Said those two would take longer.

Chapter one and this story has really grabbed my attention. I’m loving Trixie’s calm and resolute demeanor throughout all her encounters.

3724463 :applecry:

Well I can wait

NO I CAN'T WAIT :raritydespair::raritydespair::raritydespair:

Who did that artwork?:coolphoto:

3728232
found it on google.

yeah trixie!

"Where are the Blackjack gang located?

The blackjack gang is singular. It is one gang.
use is, not are

"Why would I want you money?"
typo, I think you meant "your".

MOTHABUCKIN D'AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Very cute, can't wait to see more of this dynamic duo.

"It's a dimensional enlargement spell, that I used to increase the capacity of my wagon so that it can accommodate me in the manner that I wish,"

Trixie owns a TARDIS? So she's what? A Time Lady?

Trixie shipped with Trixie. Everypony wins!:trixieshiftright:

So...Trixie is the Gray Wizard going throughout the world and trying to right wrongs to make up for her murky past...

Is Starshine actually Starswirl reincarnated and he just can't tap into his massive potential???? I like Trixie taking him in, good feels.

I liked this chapter far better then the last, in spite of how little I care about the colt right now. There was far less fluff.
It occurs to me that this is the time I've read a character you made up yourself. He seems kind of personality-less right now, but that's ok since he has only been around for a chapter.

3747441 BEHOLD THE GREAT AND POWERFUL DOCTOR! :trixieshiftright:

And with this development, I hereby dub this fanfiction "Lone Mare and Foal"!

Seriously, thats a nice surprise, seeing old Trix here showing that she is not totaly dead in her emotions.

How many years does this take place?

3757351
Same as Runs in the Family, 10 after dark knight

Yeahhhhh...bad move there Greg...

"I think the question isn't, 'where did she go,' but to whom did she go,"-

If "to whom did she go" is the question she is suggestion should be asked in place of "where did she go", it should be in quotation marks too.

I'm a little weirded-out by the whole "cloak removal" thing, but it was a vague contest anyway. In any case, he can tell people stories of the time he bested Trixy with a simple distraction.

Why doesn't she just cast a low power illusion spell on herself? Or a spell that makes you so uninteresting that ponies don't pay any attention to her?
Hell she doesn't even have to use magic at all. just get a bucket of paint and paint herself a different color.

I mean there are times when she doesn't care about being seen and then there are times when blending in is the better option, and, let me tell you that contrary to popular belief, the wearing of all black, hooded clothes is not the best way to sneak around.*
You will actually get more suspicious looks for some reason. I don't know why. It's not like I was actually doing anything. *sigh*

*Unless you're in a wine cellar at midnight with no light source whatsoever.

Ya know...I like this Trixie.

So Trixie has met that mysterious silver entity who it turns out is not a pony, but just a mass of energy that likes to assume a pony's form. And kudos to Trixie for being the first being in an extremely long time to harm that energy entity.

And it's quite obvious by the warning that was delivered that this is all taking place at the same time as It Runs in the Family. And that mysterious entity is off to get Batman.

And now she has a new spellbook, one with dangerous and powerful spells that even Star-Swirl the Bearded would have had trouble with. Something tells me that those spells will prove to be extremely useful in the battles against those demons, but Trixie will need to make sure she doesn't make any mistakes casting the spells, or they could backfire on her in a spectacular way.

And Gregory just exposed Trixie's identity. Cue mass panic from the crowd.

"How in Equestria did you set the bath ablaze?!" Trixie screamed as she started up her dousing spell and raced over to the burning tub, while Starshine tried to figure out what had gone wrong.

Totally calling it. When Starshine meets Scootaloo, he's going to remind her of her time in the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

:trixieshiftleft:Hmmm...

My theory on the :applejackconfused:Mysterious Mare is that back in the Superman fic Black Adam was looking to destroy her. She feels that she is in danger because he has grown stronger, so she traverses through the multiverse to find six heroes that she deems worthy. So far we have seen Captain Marvel and the Hulk join forces with her. The next hero is either Trixe:trixieshiftright:, Batmare:scootangel:, or the Dark Knight himself.

Other than me potentally cracking the case, :pinkiehappy:Keep up the good work!

Ok, burning water means I won't be surprised if Starshine's cutie mark involves fire in some way. I pity the Ice or Oil based monster who corners him. He'll either melt them or burn them up. :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

As for Greg the Great... :facehoof::facehoof::facehoof::facehoof: you're messing with a mysterious figure in a cloak and treating it like a joke for the first part. :facehoof::facehoof::facehoof: I can just imagine the look on his face when he finds out he's been annoying TRIXIE of all people!!! :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

"The name's Trixie. Trixie Lulamoon."

Cue Casino Royale Intro. :trixieshiftright:

Things are about to get more interesting.:pinkiehappy:

Plus, Atlantis was sunk by Sombra nearly one hundred years ago. There's no way to know where it could be now."

I think you mean a thousand years ago, since Sombra only returned about ~10 or so years ago after a 1000 YEAR nap according to the MLP:FiM timeline and this timeline too (mostly because it happened before Luna became Nightmare Moon and was banished to the Moon for 1000 years).

Is this going to be 'you are going to suffer forever' kind of story or a 'there is light after all the shit you got through' kind of story? Because my will to read it mostly depend on that...you know?

P.s: Your superman story was the BEST
P.p.s I mean it, it was better than some cannon shit I read

Hmmm reacting oddly to one Unicorn upon encountering a Changeling artifact while another Unicorn can stop it.

Why do I get the suspicion that Starshine isn't as much of a "unicorn" as was thought.

Of course I could just be paranoid.

Gregory's village called, they don't want their idiot back and kindly ask that he be tossed in the loony bin. He's suicidal, as evidanced by his continuing to egg Trixie on and needs to be in a padded room where he won't hurt himself.

Damn, Gregory was such a bucking idiot.:facehoof:

And the way that minotaur sentry reacted to Starshine is very interesting.

And now the two of them have to go on a long quest to find the artifacts required to enter the temple. Because of course it wouldn't be as simple as finding the temple and being able to enter it.

Starshine is adorable. Also the fact that he can see some types of magic before she can or, like with the door, when even she can't obviously means something.

Or it's a very clever way of redirecting our attention towards something unimportant.

Look out guys we got ourselves a wily one over here.

3786425 If it was then the Legend of Zelda would be really boring. :pinkiehappy:

:trixieshiftright:I'm going to venture a guess Starshine is Starswirl's descendant. :trixieshiftleft:

Hope I'm wrong, but they are SO going to regret taking Sombra with them to open the temple

So Starshine was able to guilt-trip Trixie into saving Sombra and taking him along with them. This seems like it will turn out to be either a really good decision, or a decision that almost gets them killed.
