When Rarity is being asked to give a fashion show in Canterlot, she can't resist. She has to go no matter what. The only problem happens to be that her friends find it rather fishy and don't want her to go. They know something that has happened to Rarity not too long ago. A thing that the seamstress can't remember herself. A fact they also want to keep that very way. Rarity knowing the answers about the events would be devastating.

Yet old enemies do tend to return at the most unexpected times. Some are blunt, quick to strike and defeated easily. Others, sit out their time. Manipulate those around them in believing they are good. Patience is a virtue, is often said. How long before the final blow can be given when that patience has already ran for a millennium? History tends to repeat itself and nightmares are the most powerful warnings that can be given. Nightmares of the past, preludes to the horrible future to come.

Fun fact: this was the only entry for the fan-fic competition for the 15th Dutch Brony meet.
Unfortunately was the competition cancelled due to lack of contestants.

6013380 well not alot of fans of the whole Nightmare Rarity arc out there.

6013486 One of the rules of the competition was that it couldn't be longer then 15 pages, I came just over 14,5 with this so... there's that. And I hope that you'll enjoy this little scrabble of madness I've written down for it.

6013628 There wasn't a specific theme to the contest other then 'serious'-fic and a troll-fic, if that's what you mean with it. I can understand why people don't like the NMR arc in general, but I personally loved it.

Liking it so far gotta read the rest later

6013715 I like the idea of the mane 6 doing their own Nightmare fall or even Nightmare pocessing them but Nightmare Moon HAS to originate with Luna for me. Not be an outside force.

Heck a sequel to one of my fics will have in essence Nightmare Mane 6 in it.

Wow, this was pretty amazing. I'd suggest re-reading it (I know, it's not fun to do) and watch out for your grammar. Just a few spots were incorrect. Good job though! Thumbs up! :raritywink:

6014426 It's an idea that has me amused for quite some time as well, but doing other Nightmare version of the Mane 6 (or having two or more) is going straight into a doom scenario out of which I can't write myself clean. The way that the comics have set it up, is that after the separation of Luna and Nightmare, the spirit of Nightmare continued to live onward. Through nightmares she influenced the mane 6 in order to find the weakest one. Or better said, the one who's most afraid of something. In this case, it was Rarity, whose body she then took for herself and became Nightmare Rarity.

However, the true origins of Nightmare Moon have been shrouded in mystery for me. All I know (and what I believe until the show tells me otherwise) is that after Luna's reverting, Nightmare's spirit became a parasite, needing to latch unto a living being to continue its existence while planning out eternal night. She's an outside force now, certainly, but when Luna first transformed, it was everything within her own heart that created the new entity.

It's a lovely matter to discuss actually, so many things are left untouched upon, who knows who is right about it all?

6014833 I'm glad that you like it dear. But I'm afraid I won't go over this again. My English isn't topnotch, far from it really, but I do get the points across that I want to get across. An error left and right, has to be forgiven for me as a Dutchman.

6015562 That is where I accept the parasite. is after Twilight using the Elements on her.

Nightmare Moon HAS to originate from Luna other wise she is hold completely blameless for NMM actions and that weakens Luna as a character. The Tragic hero fits Luna perfectly. the best comparison. Luna/Nightmare = Anakin/Vader.

6015590 That's how I see it as well actually. I believe that I have a 'believable' origin story for NMM in Nightmares (shameless self-advertisement and fair warning, I still need to haul this (as pretty much every other story) through one last, heavy edit). I can't remember what Moon's origin was within it, but it shows that Moon comes forth out of Luna.

And that it indeed has. All the sorrow Luna felt as her sister got praise for raising the sun, all that fear she felt from ponies during the night, it can create monsters. And sometimes, we become them. I don't want to say she is a tragic hero per say, she honestly wanted to get out of the shadow of her sister, she just took the wrong route to take. I can understand the Star Wars comparison here, but for me personally it's about as far from Luna and Moon as you can get.

6015613 she meets tragic hero requirement because of past deeds. she helped defeat discord and Sombra

6016254 Okay, that's very true.

6016265 One story i suggest to you is 1000 Year Change. It's a good one.

6016273 If I ever get around it, I'll place an eye on it.

6017055 That, sounds like a very powerful nightmare to my ears actually. Though I'm glad to hear you found it worth to read it despite everything that is going on in your life at the moment. Heheh, sometimes, characters portrayed in stories come closer to reality than we would like to see. Sometimes bad, but other times, very good. I dare to say this one of those times.

And that's why I'm here to begin with, remember? To frighten the unsuspecting reader with my tales, yet at the other end also help them with things they never ever expected. Though scarring them is never something I want to do, it does happen from time to time, I'm afraid. But it's the last part that is the true victory, not for me, but for you. That everything ended well, that is the thing you do it for.

You might be surprised how much you can read when a story sucks you in on such emotional levels. Don't wish for telling me more, sometimes its less, that makes things golden. Help comes in all shapes and sizes, as long as you accept the places to look. Harsh words, may contain kindness. Blunt actions, done to protect you. A simple tale, because a light at the end of a tunnel. Life works in mysterious ways my dear, as much as I would like to figure it all out, I can't. And I'm fine with that. Being afraid is good from time to time though, don't fight your monsters, as I have told before. Make them ally's of you.

Fool me once, shame on me,” countered Rarity with another growl.

“Fool me twice, shame on you,” finished Nightmare Moon with the deadly grin

That's now the saying goes. It's the other way around-
'Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.'

6021182 While it is true that the saying indeed goes like that and, I honestly didn't realize it up to this point why I hadn't discovered such an error, I personally like it this way more. The first time, you can blame yourself for falling for it. The second time, you know it's coming. Meaning that the other person can be blamed for trying the same thing twice.

It's one of the wonderful things of writing, really. Words can have so many different meanings when they are arranged just a bit differently. Toying with them, is a thing that can open up new pathways you never expected. Have characters say things you never thought they would. And overall, just have fun with it. That it is grammatical correct is a great upside point, actually. So, dare I say to pick your poison? Which one you like more?

A good story I think. It's always suprised me Nightmare Moon hasn't reappeared. She is fear and envy and hate given form. And surely somewhere in Equestria there would be a suitable host.

Another excellent piece featuring Rarity. This little gem deserves more attention.

Why did it take me so long to get around to this story... Ugh, I can only blame myself. But still you write some of the best rarity stories on this sight and I like that a lot.:raritywink:

Another amazing Nightmare Rarity story :raritystarry:
