Twilight went to take her entrance exam for Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, and she had a surge. But when the Princess of the sun shows up, all Twilight can think of is getting away. The look of concern for those she transformed was too much. In a flash of light, the little filly disappears with one thought on her mind.

"I've disappointed them all."

Jack West has been called many names. Assassin. Mercenary. Psychopath. Even "The Moriarity of the 21st Century". Some of those titles he deserved, especially that last one. He had killed people, been a gun for hire, and his sanity was questionable by societal standards. But that was all in the past now. This new world held new opportunity for him. A fresh start. He could change his image, from the villain of Earth to a hero in...ummm... what was this place called anyway? Horsieland?

Well, I've had better days. I was just trying to practice a spell that may or may not have been forbidden... don't give me that look. You want a hoof to the face? Anyway, I underestimated my raw natural talent and the spell worked... too well.

Because I don't screw things up. Clearly, it worked like it was supposed to! I think.

Now there's me... and her. Stupid, upbeat, cheerful thing that thinks she's me. Ugh, she's worse than Cadence! I need to get her half of my magic back and get rid of her before anypony finds out about this!

I mean, it can't be too hard hiding a second Sunset Shimmer...right?

Something strange is happening in Twilight's palace. The magic mirror has started acting strangely during a period of intense solar flares, leaving her worried about what complications might occur. The next thing she knows, through a sequence of events she didn't have the chance to analyze, the mirror inexplicably transports her, her friends, and Spike, to a mysterious, and dangerous world completely unfamiliar to her, where the only way to seemingly get back home is to go with a band of strange beings, on a quest to destroy a powerful ring in a far off land...

Sunset Shimmer has learned a lot about friendship. Probably almost as much as her mentor Twilight Sparkle.
But it takes a trip through the mirror to reveal just how far she has gotten in her studies, and how far she has really followed her mentor on the road of friendship.

Abandoned by her friends, Sunset find herself alone, desperate, and broken. After sending her last letter to Princess Twilight, she decides to end everything. Fortunately, she is saved by a stranger even though he is hurt himself. They will start a journey of self-discovery and mutual support and try to heal each other's wounds.
Will Sunset be able to forgive those who hurt her the most? And why does that girl with glasses look so familiar?

Long before the reign of Celestia and Luna, a beautiful young mare, by the name of "Fluttershy," was on her way to her new job as a teacher at a veterinarian school in Trotsylvania. She soon finds herself in the care of the Countess de Shimmer and persued by the brother of the Countess, who has been locked away in his own home.

Not long after, a gentlecolt, Dr. Van Helstallion, comes into town, hearing of strange deaths. It is then that Van Helstallion meets Fluttershy, immediately befriending her. Now, Dr. Van Helstallion must do whatever it takes to protect the young maiden, as well as the rest of Trotsylvania, from a demon that has been causing all the recent deaths... especially due to the fact that all the victims have been young mares...

Twilight Sparkle is a normal pony.

As normal as a pony can get as Princess Celestia's personal protogé, The Element of Magic and being the Savior of Equestria twice over that is.

She lives in Ponyville and is the librarian of Golden Oaks Library, she is the best of friends with five of the greatest mares in Equestria.

She is not some extremely powerful unicorn who has to closely monitor how much magic she has so as not to destroy anything by accident, she is not somepony who has infinite arcane knowledge at her disposal.

And she most certainly does not have Runes covering her entire body from horn to hoof.
