Celestia has been suffering from nightmares and her sister Luna cannot seem to stop them. Alongside this, the dreaded Queen Chrysalis has been caught and is finally standing trial, several world leaders attending to help decide her fate. On top of all this, nine ponies and a dragon have appeared, claiming to have been transformed and sent to Equestria by an insane wizard.

What else can go wrong?

Twilight Sparkle regains consciousness thanks to Discord only to find she and all of Equestria have been transformed into changelings by Chrysalis, with Canterlot as her new grand-hive. A weakened Discord gives her the help she needs to locate her friends and attempt to snap them out of their brainwashing, while Luna leads the remaining ponies in a struggling but stubborn resistance against the love-feeders. How long does Twilight have before she succumbs to the changeling's hunger again?

Several ponies of Ponyville, including the Mane 6, have gone missing. Spike must venture forth into the Everfree Forest and see who, or what, is behind it and save everyone. Along the way he encounters many tests of strength, of wit, and of love.
