Worthless, weak, ugly—as far as Twilight is concerned, that's all she'll ever be. Even three months into their relationship, Twilight still refuses to believe that an absolute goddess like Sunset could ever love a loser like her. And it doesn't help that Twilight spends every night being tormented by nightmares of Midnight Sparkle, the one being who hates Twilight more than she hates herself.

Twilight can only remember a single moment in her life when she felt strong: the five minutes that she spent as Midnight Sparkle. The five minutes she spent with magic.

Now, tortured by fear, anxiety, and never-ending nightmares, Twilight knows the only way to win Sunset's love is to make herself stronger—even if that means resurrecting the demon inside of her.

Sunset Shimmer has built an empire of steel and science in memory of the otherworldly power she once wielded, and of the soft-spoken scientist she once called "friend."

Now, fifteen years after the disaster which tore their bonds asunder, a new threat will force these two former friends to reunite in order to save both worlds. With the reputation The Gala has gotten in recent years, one pony is insistent on having at least ONE year where no guests are sent to the hospital, no new construction is needed on the castle, and no one is almost sent to another dimension.

This can...only end well, right? Right?

For their second date, Sunset Shimmer is going to give her a chance to see real Equestrian magic, in person, in Equestria. Equestria...a land of magic and mystery. Connected to the human world through a magical portal outside of Canterlot High School. To some, it is home. To others, a strange, bizarre place of unknown rules and knowledge, just waiting to be discovered, codified, and understood.

And, to a few, a cool place to spend an afternoon.

The Crystal Prep Shadowbolts have come to visit Equestria, with the help of Discord. This SHOULD be a fantastic adventure in another universe, but given The Shadowbolt's track record, it's way more likely to be a snarky disaster than anything else. Hopefully, most of Equestria is still standing when they're done.
