In 1986 I was one of those who vanished into the land of Equestria. At the time I was flying an F-14 Tomcat with the U.S. Navy's VF-84 fighter squadron. But life has a funny way of getting in the way of our plans and causes us to create new ones. My story was one of many. Along the way I got to know many famous people and help improve the nation of Equestria. I now write my story and hope you enjoy.

Twelve thousand years ago, humanity was driven into a war with an unknown enemy. Fire rained from the heavens and the sky turned dark as the sun dimmed. Acid poured from the clouds and a plague was unleashed upon mankind: A virus that caused men to turn on one another. A disease that forced man to fall to his knees and beg for mercy. A pathogen that ravaged man’s civilization.

And when humanity lost all chances of reconciliation, all hope of keeping their loved ones safe, they pulled the plug, three hundred souls left Earth while sacrificing their only home to the angel of the enemy.

In the twelve millennia since the Great War, all traces of humanity have been wiped from the surface of the Earth. In man’s rightful place now are a multitude of sapient species. For twelve thousand years, these animals have lived in peace and harmony, man reduced to nothing more than but a myth, a folk tale, a legend.

But word has spread across the countryside. Word of forgotten beasts that still walk the western wastelands. Creatures able to bend the world to their will without the help of magic. Creatures said to be older than time itself.

This is a tail of fate and freedom, yet another iteration of the Myss of Sysiphus, the Equine Comedy perpetuating itself: with no end in sight there, is only the journey. Will Derpy and Celestia's Love, Friendship, Agape and Storge prebail against the B.R.o.T.H.? Will Truth, Justice, and the Equestrian Way win against the Forces of Evil? My first story in this continuity. Apologies, but I'm not a Nobel-Prize worthy writer—yet. Even my summaries are still imperfect, so apologies for that too. This story's a bit of a slow starter, but I promise it gets better after Chapter X—which I haven't written yet, I'll replace "X" with the right number once we get there, together, dear reader, you and me. Of course, if you don't like it, please don't read it; I do not wish to inflict needles suffering on fellow sentient beings—I hope that, in some parallel universe, a pony is reading this.

This broth is owned by too many cooks for me to list or even care, so sue me. Yeah, I'm not even listing the proofreaders, they knew what they were getting into when they signed on for this mission; I'll remember them so you don't have to.

Currently being rewritten: from its broken fragments will be forged a newer, better, successor story, like Anduril seceded Narsil. Indeed, the Flame of the West will succeed the Sun/Moon upon their ascension. But that is a story for another story.

It is the year 2552 and the Pillar Of Autumn has just entered Slip space to escape the Covenant fleet at Reach. A malfunction occurs with the Slip space drive and sends the Autumn and her crew into unknown space. The first planet that comes into range is very Earth like, and is giving off intelligent life signatures. What they don't know is that their only way back home is on this planet. The Autumn dispatches a scout party and what they report back is unbelievable. A world completely inhabited by ponies, millions of them..... Welcome to Halo: Equestria.
