Twilight Sparkle, now the ruler of Equestria, was taking a walk in the Canterlot gardens. She was without her coronation clothes and her new crown. She planned to look at the statues. In fact, she planned to see the new statue that was just added today. Twilight Sparkle couldn’t believe it happened. Why did this happen? Why didn’t they try to reform Chrysalis? She hated to admit it, but Twilight Sparkle knew that what Chrysalis was doing was being mother and queen of the changelings. Chrysalis just wanted the best for her subjects. Before Twilight Sparkle met Thorax, she had no thought that Changelings could change, but when Spike sang that song that changeling could change, Twilight began to believe that all changelings can become good. She even began to believe that Chrysalis would surrender and become good and would have a new form, just like the other changelings. When Twilight realized that Chrysalis had denied Starlight Glimmer’s friendship, she still had hopes that Chrysalis would surrender in the end. But it seems that her hopes were in vain.
“Why didn’t I act?” asked Twilight Sparkle to herself. She slapped the hoof on her forehead.
Twilight Sparkle started crying for the queen of changelings. Why? Why did this have to happen? Why didn’t they at least give Chrysalis a chance? She knew she should have acted, but no. She decided to just watch the scene instead of stopping. She still blamed herself for it. But she didn’t plan on telling anypony. Because she knew that if she told anypony, the ponies would judge her. So she would try not to show this sadness around her subjects, since now she would rule Equestria. She would smile at everypony, but only she knew that smile was fake.
She looked at Chrysalis in statue form. Twilight Sparkle was really hoping no one was spying on her. Twilight Sparkle just hoped that although Chrysalis is now a statue, she could hear Twilight Sparkle. But Twilight knew Chrysalis didn’t feel the same way Twilight felt for her. Twilight Sparkle blew out a breath. When Chrysalis appeared in the guise of Candace, Twilight could feel nothing but anger at the changeling queen. But it was amazing how her opinion changed afterwards. Before she considered Chrysalis her enemy, and now Twilight didn’t consider Chrysalis her enemy.
Twilight Sparkle sat on her hips and looked at the statue-shaped Chrysalis, “Chrysalis, if you can hear me, know that I will always believe you. Even if you are now in statue form, I hope that if you ever stop being a statue, please become good and gonverne with Thorax. Please, that’s all I ask… ”
I bet you must be wondering why Twilight is hoping Chrysalis will listen to her. Simple. When Discord told her that even though he was a statue, it didn’t stop him from hearing things. Twilight Sparkle really hoped Chrysalis could hear her. Would she know? Probably not. But the only way was to hope Chrysalis could hear her.
Tears started to come out of her eyes. Twilight Sparkle looked back. She wanted to do something before returning to the castle, but for that she would need to go to Ponyville to buy something. Only she didn’t know if she should go by train or flying. Twilight Sparkle thought, maybe it would be good for her to take a train. So it was decided. Twilight Sparkle got up decided to fly to the train station she tried not to look sad. Because it would catch the attention of the other ponies. As it flew, several ponies bowed before the new ruler of Equestria. But Twilight Sparkle didn’t even see it, because she was too sad to realize that.
Why Chrysalis? Why did you turn down Starlight Glimmer’s friendship? She just wanted to help you.
“Look! It’s Princess Twilight!!” exclaimed several unicorn foals.
Twilight Sparkle obviously didn’t listen because she was glazing in her thoughts to look at her subjects. She couldn’t even smile to disguise it. Tears began to trickle from her eyes. She wiped her tears with a hoof. She didn’t want to cry now. She could cry after that do this task. When she landed, Twilight was already at the train station. There was a row. And she couldn’t deny that the row was long. But lucky she was fourth in the row. She couldn’t get the sad expression off her face. Twilight began to wonder if she would ever be happy.
“Princess, where do you want to go?”
Twilight Sparkle was surprised and looked at the owner of the voice. It was the conductor, “ah. Sorry. I would like to go to Ponyville”, said Twilight Sparkle trying to show a smile. And luckily for her, she managed to smile.
The conductor handed a ticket to Twilight before Twilight entered. When Twilight got on the train, her smiling expression was replaced by a sad expression. She sat on an accent and decided to look at the landscape. While doing this, the train began to move.
After minutes of looking at the landscape, the train stopped, “Ponyville. Anypony who wants to leave can leave”, said the driver.
Twilight Sparkle stopped what she was doing and left the seat. When she got to the driver, Twilight handed over the ticket, paid and got off the train. At least looking at the landscape helped her get distracted.
Now that she was in Ponyville, it was just Twilight going to a flower shop, also known as a Florist. As she rode, several ponies bowed before Twilight Sparkle. But Twilight didn’t even care, because the sadness in her was greater. When she arrived at the flower shop, Twilight Sparkle opened the door with a hoof.
“Good afternoon. What can I help you with?”
Twilight Sparkle glanced sideways before looking ahead of her and seeing a yellow mare in a blue apron, “Will you take any Flower?”
“Yes. Got a bunch of roses?”
“Yes. Wait a minute”
The mare who ran the store went looking for the bouquet. Meanwhile, Twilight began exploring the store. And she loved the other flowers. But she wouldn’t take others flowers. Twilight planned to carry only the bouquet.
“Here’s your bouquet”
Twilight Sparkle looked forward and saw the mare holding the bouquet of roses with a hoof. Twilight Sparkle took the bouquet with her magic, “how much does it cost?” she asked.
“Five bits, please”, replied the mare.
Twilight Sparkle gave the mare five bits before leaving the store. When she was out of the store, she decided to fly back to Canterlot instead of back by train.
When Twilight arrived in Canterlot flying again, the foals were happy and called by the princess’s name, and the stallions and mares bowed as they saw Twilight Sparkle fly past them. Twilight, again, cried. Twilight Sparkle decided to rush back to the castle. She just hoped the flowers wouldn’t fly from the bouquet.
Arriving at Canterlot Castle, the royal guards bowed as they saw Twilight Sparkle. Twilight ignored that and headed toward the castle garden. She just hoped it would arrive quickly in the garden of the statues and where the statue of Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, and Tirek stood. As she walked, she began to cry. Yes. Today she was very emotional.
Twilight Sparkle arrived at the statue. She couldn’t stop crying when she saw Chrysalis. She looked at the bouquet before bending down and placing it on the floor next to Chrysalis. That done, she looked at Chrysalis one last time before leaving the statues’ garden sadly.

Eh, just introduce a few _real_ monsters not tuned down to fit into a PG setting. With the actual need to cooperate just to survive we can have Chrysalis working with mane 6 and Co quite quickly. And if the situation would stay this way for a while we can have their interaction develop into something over time. Preferably without repulsive ex-ling forms involvement.
Sadly no fics are using such route for a quite a while. Darn shame, I'd say
I always did wonder why twilight didn't do more or just confronted chrysalis, every time twilight or the mane6 face the villain they get reformed, but if they are not beaten by the mane6 they don't get redemption arc. I guess the power of the T.O.H only works on them to give the villain redemption arc.

Harmony has been in the pedestal of "good" for far too long to the point it shines so bright it burns, that anything that not aline with its view sees it as a threat. Even using anyone as a puppet to its machinations, hence fort the cutie marks, the elements and changing the changeling appearance to suit it "perfect world". Where harmony is absolute or else the agent of harmony will get you... But that my opinion and thought, free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The point of Twilight's depression is that if she had intervened or got to Chrysalis sooner, maybe Chrysalis COULD have been saved. But she didn't and now it is too late.
So yeah, I waited to read this till after I watched the finale, and I'm glad I did since it made more sense. You did a great job, and looking forward to other works.
Honestly I can't see Twilight saying this after Chrysalis turned everyone against her at the wedding, I'd say Chrysalis is probably her most hated enemy, she is for me, even if she is a great villain. But who knows? She forgave Discord for many acts.
I dunno if it’s just me, but it this story could’ve been better if Thorax had taken Twilight’s place. This writing still has potential though.

It's OK, things happen. Now if the place was bigger on the inside then one is expecting... I have personally experienced this phenomenon. I was at a hobby store in Denver Colorado. From the outside, it looks like a typical shop of average size. Upon entering the place one discovers that the shop actually encompassed the entire city block. My brain shut down.
