SPark

Not checking in here. I may post stories because my patrons are nice and like ponies. Otherwise out of the fandom, sorry peeps.

Though as always, I agree fully with Ember that there's never anything wrong with taboo fantasies and desires!

It’s becoming increasingly rare to find people who draw a meaningful division between fantasy and reality. At least, it seems that way; maybe it’s just a vocal and loud minority? I don’t know.

All I know is that everything begins with fantasy; even the wheel began as fantasy. Fantasy is how we arrive at conclusions of morality. If we treat fantasy as the same as reality — and therefore can’t entertain ideas without being treated the same as performing actions — then how can we hope to draw meaningful conclusions about anything?

Very sexy. I would commission you if I had a way to get the money to your account.

*spraypaints "Princest is Wincest" on the fountain outside the castle gate* :rainbowlaugh:

Okay, the idea of them playing this game of "is it me or is it her" is actually VERY APPEALING.

Now I'm just hoping this isn't Luna pretending to be Ember pretending to be Luna. :rainbowderp:

Incestion?

Either way, sexy bug sex therapist is go!

The only people I know of who shout that are the people who say killing a person in a video game is the same as killing people in real life and numbs you to the idea. Which of course is poppycock. I kill hundreds every day(warframe, vermintide) in videogames and yet give me a real life-endangering weapon like a rifle or a grenade and I'm 200% more cautious than those who have no experience with violence, because I have a frame of refference of what happens if I screw up and activate them(Ex-army, btw, but was MI and was never on an active front.) .Holding a live grenade was one of the most terrifying things I've ever done, and I attribute that to my brain drawing from what happens in video games when one of those suckers go off. If i screwed up, I wouldn't be respawning and I am very much aware of this.

So no, I don't agree that the line is blurring. Fantasy is a bit more accepted in all levels of society now, but it is by no means blurring. The thing that i feel this fic is exploring is asking why taboos are such. Celestia knows incest is taboo, but the reasons for it, inbreeding mostly, is not really relevant to two immortal mares. In fact, Luna being immortal is a reason FOR breaking it; Luna is one of a very small number that can relate to Celestia in this way. Therefore she can look past it. Will I? Hell no. I'm a male, and breaking such taboos would have very real consequences.
(I'm about to get wierd here...)
There are a lot of rules our society has just because. It's fine to ask why, it's fine to wonder what would happen if you break them. The issues only crop up when you're taboo-breaking starts impacting others. Cannibalism for instance. My issue with it isn't so much eating human flesh as the fact that you're disrespecting a human body. When you eat your neighbors dead uncle, that was someone they cared about and wanted to see properly laid to rest. It insults them on a very deep level. And that is where you cross a line.

Hmm.

Weird narcissist orgy - Celly, Luna, and Ember, all illusioned up to look like Celestial, ride a merry-go-round and then pounce to play in the middle until even they aren't sure who's the real Celestial. XD

As I said, it seems that way; it seems like it's a function strictly of who is speaking at the time.

*stage whisper* It sounds like fun to us, too.

Cute, but very light. I guess that couldn't be helped since this was a commission though.

Eh, commissions aside, sometimes one just wants some fluff.

Nothing wrong with fluff, but missed opportunities typically accompany commissioned stories since they're not what the commissioner wants

some familial bond

that would be the westermarck effect. Funny thing about the westermarck effect, it tends to degrade over time if you aren't in constant contact, like, say, a 1000 year hiatus on the moon. Plenty of time for the westwrmarck effect to degrade.

... The Westermarck Effect is the reverse sexual imprinting that happens in the first 6-7 years of the life of a newborn. Degradation was never mentioned from what I remember of my time studying this, though, I could be wrong. That can be an addition since I truly believe that time can degrade anything, I doubt the Westermarck Effect can withstand a human lifespan of time.

Problem is can time degrade the memories that Celestia and Luna shared before Nightmare? I mean my head-cannon of Celestia's and Luna's age is about 1500 and 1400 respectively. The comics and show combined depict them to be around 10xx and 1067. If you take whatmustido's interpretation from "Diaries of a Madman" you get their ages to be 5500 and >4500 years of age. Even if you take the show and comic canon that still gives seven decades together.

In the end, I am a bit skeptical that that many memories of 'being sisters' can be overlooked.

Think you could continue this? I'm lovin' it. That may be my love of changelings and Lunestia talking, though.

I don't have any current plans to, alas. Too many other projects in the works.

That was fun! :trollestia:

I might actually be Luna in disguise. She's quite good at illusions, you know."

...Did anyone else think that perhaps Ember was never in this story at all and that Luna just layers illusion on top of illusion so that it SEEMS like Ember is pretending to be Luna when in fact it's Luna pretending to be Ember pretending to be Luna.

This was nice! A fun exploration of princest while acknowledging the difficulties therein.

Thank you!

Two years later and this story is still wonderful. :trollestia:
You're one of the authors with the highest re-readability. :)

Aww, thank you!
