I won't say have insomnia. I also won't say I'm a stranger to sleepless nights.

Maybe it's a messed up sleep schedule? Neglected thoughts taking revenge once the clock ticks midnight. Unless I see a doctor, I'll never know the real answer; only that writing helps me get to bed somehow.

Hopefully, I Still Can't Sleep makes you a little bit sleepy.

Funny how I chose to read this story after midnight.

And wow, this story was pretty darn sad. Spike tackling his doubts, seeing what was once his friends all filled with life, giving him advice. Change is inevitable and it seemed Spike couldn't grasp that, not even with his friends gone. Although they're gone, it would appear they aren't forgotten. Sad, but kind of heartwarming knowing that it was his thoughts and memories of them that made him get some sleep in the end. I'm... I'm gonna get some sleep now.

B_25.... You bastard. You absolutely magnificent bastard.

*sniff*

...

This is a well written story...

Some of the best writers write about the concepts no one wants to talk about...

And you have done just that.

Thank you for the kind words.

This shows one major thing about spike, one major issue with lifespans, one grand flaw of immortality, and one major reality of longevity. The older you become the more lessons you realize are a fracture point in your glass wall of life.
That and I will need to find you and deck you in the shnoz for punching my feels.

I like that philosophy of what lessons become with age. But please don't hit me; I'm am but a fragile flower.

No more than the average person and they can take em fairly well, besides to someone like me a strike to the heart strings hurts a hell of a lot more than physically!

Well. Bit deeper than I expected, going in.

I loved it. :pinkiehappy:

Hey! I enjoy your work!

Thanks for checking this piece, man. Means a lot coming from you.

Perfect as always.

Feels weird reading this after midnight as well.

Everything was imo, well executed and the end which held impact on me the most.

amazing, but super sad and blue at the end, which gives a big suprise. i love this story.
10/10

That was a little... confusing. Or maybe I'm just too sleepy to make sense of it now.

Quite a good read there. I will admit it took me till Applejack to get a feel for what was coming. Bravo, good sir.

Always so poetic. This story is so open to personal interpretation along with taking it for what it could mean within the MLP: FiM universe.

Thanks for another deep tale with our pal, Spike. :)

Just like the false king

Even though it isn't specifically mentioned, his insomnia makes me think his first dragon nap took hold and ended up sleeping through many of his friends lives and feels guilty about sleeping now.

I really do like the airs you tend to put in your stories, @B_25. I know I've read others, I know I've read this one, but it's unmarked and unread for me...

I did find some general errors, unless they're part of the mystery?

competent - component
margarine - migraine

I might be putting the wrong inflections in, but I'm having issues wrapping my head around this line?
Makes you think how much of us our personality is constructed by our thoughts.

“Everypony will end hurting someone in their lives,”
Will end up hurting.

Edit: Actually the last one might be correct, it's just very oddly phrased.

You might want to throw a sad tag on this one, not to get anyone off guard.

And when he reached the end of the story, with that moment of realization of what he just read... he wept.

GAH. that had me depressed so much, simply because it caught me off guard.

Spike had put himself through self-induced insomnia, which just like Truffles said, makes me think he is not mad at just himself, but also his biology for making it possible for to practically miss the lives of those he cared about.

I figured what was going on around Pinkie, but was still unsure of how it was going to end and I needed to read more. Suffice to say this story captured my attention and quite frankly, I'm interested in reading more of your stories. Good show friend.

Thanks for the kind words, fam, and I hope you enjoy the rest of my drivel.

This was sad yet mystical
Thanks for writing!

I'm not crying...I'm not crying *looks down as tears begin to pour down*

No matter how many times I come back to this, it never fails to bring me to tears
