Glimglam

I did things, once.

E

This story is a sequel to Rocks Are Dumb

Apple Bloom thinks rocks are dumb.

Maud takes it upon herself to convince the filly otherwise.

Big thanks to Majin Syeekoh for begging me allowing me the chance to write this.

I approve.

I can only imagine what I'd do if some strange person showed up claiming to be a distant relative. Also, rocks are awesome.

I liked this story. I always found Maud to be a fun character to read or watch, and this fic handled her perfectly in my opinion. The fic also got me to smile, which I highly appreciated. Excellent work.

Nope. They're still just fucking rocks.

Wait. If the rocks can talk, that means they have mouths. So if the rocks have mouths, do the hills have eyes?

Yup indeedidooo! Rocks are not dumb!

I'd probably be more than a little wary, honestly. They could be KGB, for all I know. :twilightoops:

Also, rocks are awesome.

Thanks a bunch! It was surprisingly fun to write her, as well. Granted, I did have to rewatch the episode to remind myself proper of how she spoke (I wasn't too far off in the first draft, but I may have made her speech a tad on the formal side), but I think it all turned out well enough in the end.

5409768 You're welcome.

Why would Marble think rocks are dumb if she is a rock farmer?

But yeah, it was mostly just a silly little callback to end the story on. Since it would line up with the ending of the original fic and all, in which Apple Bloom thought the same thing. You can mainly chalk up her frustration to Maud's constant above-and-beyond obsession with rocks. Limestone, meanwhile, just doesn't care. (I do have a headcanon with the Pie Family, though I know I didn't really elaborate on it much here. No need to unnecessarily weigh it down, and all.)

Side note, never expected you of all people to comment here. Quite the pleasant surprise, if I might speak as such. I think I might have been following you on FF.net for quite a long while now, come to think of it... :twilightsheepish:

True.
Oh, you're a fan? Well, happy to comment!

5409820
Heh, and I'm happy you did, as well. Glad to see you here on Fimfiction, too. :yay:

No, but the hills are alive with the sound of rocks singing.

This is good! I think the ending dragged, but other than that, I have no complaints.

I see someone figured out that it's possible to cross-quote. (EDIT: it doesn't generate notifications though)

Also, check them dubs.

Yeah, I think I might have dragged out the ending quite a bit. I was just going to end it after Apple Bloom left the school, but I decided I wanted a little extra closure on Maud returning to the farm. (However briefly.) Oh well, sometimes my extended word counts tend to do that to me... :rainbowlaugh:

Same here, only I think the ending dragging adds hope to the possibility of ANOTHER SEQUEAL! YEAAAAH!!!! I do hope, Mr./Ms. Author, that you are considering greatly, making a third. This is the kind of fan fiction that is sooooo....fits easily into canon but not shown in the show because it is too Slice of Life. Still, we love seeing them ponies in their everyday, non-adventuring lives.

I am watching out for a third.

That title...:pinkiehappy:

AB, the filly of sass:
The filly giggled. “Got a good point there, miss.”
- Sassssss!!!! Oh so sassy!

Possible technical errors:
1. If Apple Bloom could have been any more bored than she was, one could nail her to the side of a tree, and she would feel nothing—since she would have little more than a block of wood at that point. She just wanted something to do.
-"...-since she would be little more than a block of wood at that point..."

2. Apple Bloom's looked down at the rock, then back up at Maud, incredulity written all over her expression.

3. “Oh, no kiddin'?” snapped Apple Bloom, who them glared down at her paper, inwardly hoping to be able to send it to the moon with her mind alone.

4. They're just rocks! Maybe a few of them could do some interesting things, but for the most part, they're all just the same, dull-gray thing, aren't they? “—uh… never mind.”
-"...dull-gray things..." Perhaps?

I hope for a Chapter 2 where she travels back in time and rebukes filly Rarity for saying "DUMB ROCK!"

“Rocks like to gossip.”

They sure do! They have all the best dirt.

I really enjoyed this story, especially since I am interested in rocks, only on a small level though.

Well if you say it out loud she will return Marble.

Oh man. I just realised that Maud Pie has more connections than the Equestrian Intelligence Agency. Her spies are literally everywhere. She can listen in on anyone at any time.
...
I'm suddenly afraid. She could be listening to me right now...
Top story. More than worth my time. Thanks to both you and Syeekoh for creating this most interesting 'verse.

And that's how Apple Bloom got a rock cutie mark and became Maud 2.

Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here.

5486719 What does the writing in your avatar say?

5435499 Take the freaking like and go:pinkiehappy:

6350750 I will take this like. I will go. And I will give you one in return.

This story was awesome. Rocks are (not) dumb. I hope Maud gets her rocktorate in rock science soon.
