Twilight has had a rather trying morning. She's been up most of the night preparing for one of the most important presentations of her life, and all she wants to do is eat her breakfast. However, her toaster hasn't seemed to get the message. Why can things never be simple?

This was that wonderful combination of 'what the hell' and 'Brilliant!' that I love so much.
One thing I did notice, that sort of threw me off was this:
Conductors. I don't think that word means what you think it means.

3202444 Conductors did make sense in context, and I did get you were thinking of the poppy seeds conducting her magic away from her horn, but I personally would have used inhibitors, as that makes more sense to me.

It's probably a moot point, since you already changed it, but the electronics engineer in me feels compelled to clarify the point anyway...
A lightning rod doesn't channel the lightning away from the building it's on top of (or next to) merely because it's a conductor. It channels it away from the building because it's grounded, i.e. physically connected to the earth, by a conductor. In other words, it's not that the lightning rod is a conductor, it's where it conducts the electrical potential to. If you just stuck a metal pole on top of a stone building, but didn't provide any electrically-conductive connection between the pole and the earth, it would just conduct the lightning straight into the building and it'd be no different than if you had no lightning rod at all.
That's why the confusion over poppy seeds as magical conductors vs. inhibitors; if the seeds were just conductors, they'd be picking up Twilight's magic and trying to conduct it to someplace, not blocking it.
Although that does now beg the question of why a unicorn would eat a bagel covered in magic-inhibiting seeds for breakfast...
If poppy seeds are the most powerful magical inhibitors known to ponykind, then why is Twilight eating a bagel covered in it? Hell for that matter why is it legal to sell them with poppy seeds?

Well, we all know that Twilight gets really flustered when she's stressed. Plus, poppy seed are powerful magical inhibitors, yes, but like other magical inhibitors, they must be close to the horn to effectively prevent magic, as they must be whole to be extremely dangerous. As such, by chewing them, you effectively lower the danger level to a minimal amount. Plus, they're tasty!
