Down voting, not for the idea of the story, but because it was impossible to get past everyone's reactions to the change. Everyone just accepts it at the drop of a hat? Are they all scitzo? Your family dog become a talking two legged thing and you can just move on with that? Or the fact they become embarrassed over her genitals, dispite they are all non-clothing wearing and should have no problems with this?
How she's capable of speech as a reflex action, even though she's never tried to emulate speech before and that requires a physical attempt to form those sounds with her mouth, and not just bark, I can sort of ignore. But immediately deciding to stand ontwo legs?
I couldn't get very far because it felt like you weren't even trying to think how this would realistically would go down, but pulled it from your head in a way that feels lazy.
I would ask you rewrite this and think about every characters reactions and why they do what they do, instead of lazily throw up scenes that don't function in an actual situation.

So here's a creature that suddenly gained the ability to reason and express said reason with more than a wag of the tail. And this creature is returned, nay lobotomized, back to its original form, by caring people who 'only want what's best'.
I don't see that. I think it's the closest we can come to murder without actually going through the motions with the icepick and the blood.

You read it yourself, that her innermost urges could overwrite the master/servant relationship imprinted on her. How could you let someone like this make an informed decision, when the whole concept of free will is so alien to her? Also, I really don't see where the greater good enters into all of this.

I don't write stories just to get popular; I write them cause I wanted to, and I have no regrets writing this. Also, way to blame a story getting on the feature box as a reason people quit the site. People quit the site because they feel their story isn't as popular "as it should be" and rage quit on writing. They're in it for the wrong reasons.
If you didn't enjoy the story, then fine. I have no problem with that. But if you're going to point fingers at others, realize that most of the time, Mature stories aren't featured, or at least not at the top. There usually is an even ground of clop and other stories, so the excuse "clop destroys the feature box" is kinda weak. Not to mention, you could always turn off the mature tag
Time to stop the finger pointing and just write because you genuinely enjoy it, not because it'll get you infamy

3128583 I wasn't referring to authors who quit the site. I was referring to people in general, some of them being close friends of mine and a lot of them not even being writers on here. I'm not blaming the stories themselves or even the authors. What they write is their business and there's nothing I plan on doing to change that. Stories by themselves are harmless. An author (theoretically) can't control how popular his story's gonna get. The site itself is okay. Got some problems, but it doesn't suck. Maybe the people on the site suck, not the stories. That's why I'm hardly ever on here anymore, and that's why some people view this as being the "dark side" of the fandom. Not everybody on here is a writer, and I barely even qualify as one. For my smartass comment, I apologize.

No problem, and I appreciate the clarification. I think people just need to realize that things like these can be avoided. They could keep the mature tag off, they could explore the popular box and read those, and they can generally stop complaining because M rated fics and/or clopfics are hardly the most popular fics on this site.
I only know of one clop that is on the top 10, and generally the box has plenty of friendly stuff for them. I never cared for being on a feature box. I'd rather entertain people with interesting stories, learn what they like and don't like and use that to improve later on. I'm fine with negativity towards my work as long as there's an explanation towards it. I ain't God, so I make mistakes, and I want to learn from them. So even if you did hate the story, that wouldn't bother me; it might sting, but if you gave a decent reason for it, I could learn from that.

Dogs are still dogs in Equestria. Even if they have all these strange creatures, they are only strange to us. Everything in their world is normal to them. A dog suddenly being able to walk and talk isn't normal so a freak out is still justifiable.eh.
