Rarity is moving up in the world. Her noble House, the long gone House of Belle, has been restored by royal decree and given to her as a reward for services rendered to the crown. After many adventures, Rarity and Dash are heading to Canterlot for a life of leisure and gentility. But not all is well. Rainbow, injured in past adventures, harbors feelings that wait to be released. Bitterness grows in the dark places of the heart, and though she is happy for her spouse, Rainbow's dreams were stolen from her by misfortune. Nothing can change that. Rarity receives everthing... and Rainbow? Perhaps she receives nothing for her efforts, in the end. It'll depend.

I read a bit... and then I got worried I was reading out of order so I stopped, but then I started again because it felt so... natural. And now I've stopped again, so I can sleep, and-
I lied. I just finished the chapter. I like the separate sections, and the voicing of Rarity, very well done. The attention to her need to create a particular world to inhabit... I love it.
Lord, I feel sad for Rainbow - not so much for Rarity's words, but for the entire first section. Words are words, but leaving... that's hard. Despite the pain and loss before, to leave a job like that has to take away part of what you are. I know I cling to one or two old ones I had, because I defined myself through what I did.

Took me a few days to get to this. Great start! I like the alternating viewpoints, and the immediate immersiveness that fills in just enough backstory to be tantalizing without requiring a read-through of the Songverse canon.

How did Rarity get her scar? I'm sad that Rainbow Dash never fully recovered from the Crawling Choas's trap, but hopefully things work out between them. Are we going to find out what happened between Flutters and Twi in this story too? Or is it purely about Rarity and Rainbow Dash?
2546925 This one is purely Rainbow and Rarity. Rarity received her scar in the West, in "Great Heart Will Not Be Denied" at the hoof of a mad zebra shaman's mercenaries. Whilst in Jannah she was forced to fight a bit and miscalculated.

Cyne, I've loved all your Songverse stories, and this one was definitely good... But it felt incomplete. I wanted it to keep going, reveal a little more. There was conflict there that didn't get the chance to be explored fully. It's the mark of a good storyteller when you want to keep reading their work, so this is a criticism wrapped in a compliment and you should take it with a grain of salt. Still, I must say that, of all the stories in the Songverse, this one is my least favorite.
Canterlot is best city and more things need to take place there.
