Her relationships frayed, and her future causing her anxiety, Applejack heads down to the river with many of the earth ponies in town to see her aunt, an itinerant clergymare of Gaia. Accompanying her is her friend Twilight and a host of regrets.

(Though you don't need to know this to read the story, this is part of the Splinter Songverse, a re-imagining of what might have happened if Rainbow had died in "Where the Sun is Silent" which you can find on EQD. My Love, a Ghost also is about Rarity and Applejack. The real Songverse can be found on my page.)

2712558 Rarijack, actually.

and so the hymn-fic cometh! I liked it, of course. I'm thinking of shipping more Twilight. Bookpone has potential for some adorable moments. But, like I said, good fic. Perhaps some box time if there aren't any second person clopfics posted!

2712589 Thankya, BroMax. And yes. Twilight the shippable. Let it be

To anyone who read my last comment, forget it.

I was COMPLETELY wrong and feel like a major ASS.

Aware of that now. I feel stupid.

Excellent fic, though. Very touching and moving, but not that sad. I liked it.

2712605 Nah, my fault.

Thank you!

2712629

Not a problem, I quite enjoy your stories.

Don't feel too bad. Read before you post though to help alleviate those misconceptions. :ajsmug:

If your goal was to leave the reader wanting more, you've succeeded, at least with this reader.

2712870 I like to tell only as much as I must.

Though you can find a bit more of these two. Just for you. Well not really, but still

this was... hell i don't know what it was but i liked it. rather fitting to the song as well. i wasn't sure what i was going to read, turns out it was going to be one hell of a moving tale.

For your listening pleasure

Yes it is from Bioshock but it stands as my favorite version

2713256 It is my favorite version hands down. I listened to this version about 25 times while writing this fic.

AppyJay just needs some socks. :rainbowwild:

Saw the title, thought of that, decided to play the game, now reading this fic.

Roundabout logic much?

Isn't it a beautiful song?

2714384 I adore it, it's on my playlist atm along with several covers of various songs by bronies like Michael Jackson's Beat It covered by Black Gryph0n and Michelle Creber (Apple Bloom)

2714672 Your approval is something I always strive for and I am honored by it.

the world was born out of a big, grand ole Song…

Silmarillion reference? :3

I don't really know what to feel... I am very poor at expressing emotion in any way that makes sense. But I digress; this story made me... feel, for lack of a better word. I just don't know how to put in into words, I'm afraid. Beautifully done, my dear Cynewulf. Beautifully done.

"There's a better home awaiting, in the sky, in the sky..."

Manly tears.

2714927 And it's good to see you, my faithful and yet lonely friend.

I'm glad you liked it.

2714944 It is!

But the point isn't that sadness... I hoped for cartharsis! To be sad is to be alive.

Keep your head up, applejack... things will get better soon

They should have sewed that centipony into a circle. That one will never be unbroken.

Hmm. You know, when I read the title, I thought it was a song reference. Then I saw the chapter name, and I was sure of it. Then I read the comments, and see that while my guess was right, the song I was thinking of was way off.

(I really, really need to get to playing Infinite)

As to the story itself, I liked it. Not my usual thing, but it was very well crafted.

2756893 I like Johnny Cash a lot! Not tooooo far off, actually, as this song references/borrows from the other.

Huh, this was...different. Since I didn't read the other fics you alluded to, the plot was a bit fuzzy for me. This felt more like a side story following Applejack. That being said, this was still rather enjoyable even thought there were a few errors and it was a touchy subject that I wasn't particularly interested in. Overall, good job and I liked the reference to Bioshock Infinite.

Few typos.

Applejack noticed in the cal m.

“I need advice. What I should do.”

But they were soon gone, except for a few stragglers who would go together. Applejack turned back towards them, and towards the river. A few foals played in the shallows while their parents looked on. A young mare and stallion sat close

together a ways from her, the mare’s head resting on her partner’s shoulder.

Other than that, this was... different.

for some reason it made me think of this.

The beginning especially.

2868652 Thankya, I'll fix that.

And yay different

“You know. The Song, I bet it was a little like this,” he continues. “When the world was young, hayseed, the world was born out of a big, grand ole Song…”

Sing her song and become nothing...

Your Rarijack always has such a bizarre, distinct quality to it.
