A retelling of Sunset Shimmer's redemption, starting from the night of the Fall Formal and going through the events immediately following the Friendship Games.

Author's notes: I've been working on this story for over a year. I'll admit it contains a lot of elements that appear commonly in other Sunset stories -- this is just my take on it. I'll try to give credit where credit is due -- although nearly every idea in this story occurred to me independently, others have actually published stories using many of them first.

The thrust of the story is to take material written for ages say 10-13 (i.e. the EQG movies/shorts/specials) and age it up to make it more dramatic and meaningful. Probably my favorite thing to write was the conversations that must have taken place, both in the human world and in Equestria, but that aren't depicted in any movie or book.

Full Disclosure: Sunset's friends play their usual crucial roles in her redemption and growth, but this is a Momlestia/Lunauntia story too. And there is no shipping. Romance isn't Sunset's priority as she crawls out of the darkness of her former life. Yet.

I had to add the AU tag after Forgotten Friendship came out. Up until then, this story was fairly canon-compatible. Now, it diverges a bit.

While working late one-night Principal Celestia happens upon a bundled up Sunset Shimmer sleeping in the school library. Realizing the truth of Sunset's living situation she takes her in and lets her sleep in her guest room. As events unfold and with a little bit of help their relationship evolves to one far from that of a teacher and student.

After being purged of the darkness at the Fall Formal Sunset was hurt, and badly. She needed a home, and a place in someone's heart.

Luckily for her, Celestia has room for her in both.

It's a known fact that if you are out sick and cannot do your job, you should stay home. Unfortunatly, when you are a high school principal this is a luxury you cannot have unless you have a substitute. Sadly, your sister's out sick as well. So who do you get instead? One Carapace Chrysalis. Hey, it was either her or Discord. Oh dear. Later, Celestia would realize the only thing her substitute would accomplish for the week was singlehandly uniting the student body against her in the total of one week. That's got to be a record... right?

It did not take long for everyone to notice Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash's absence during the events of "Pinkie Spy".

This story is a sequel to Peace Offering

After the events of the Fall Formal, Celestia and Luna have dozens of questions for Sunset. Where's she from and where she lives are just a few that Sunset should have prepared for. And the annoying part of having Rainbow Dash following her around like a lost puppy.

Twilight and her friends are ready for a fun, festive Halloween party at Canterlot High. With the seven prepared in-costume and the school in full decoration, it's bound to be a night to remember.

Unfortunately it seems that someone with Equestrian magic is afoot, and intends to make sure that tonight's party-goers REALLY get into character! Can the Humane Seven get to the bottom of this magical mayhem and put things right?

When a conversation with her school principal turns towards the topic of families, parallel universes, and the coincidences surrounding both, Sunset Shimmer lets slip a little bit too much personal information. This in turn leads her to learn that Celestia's got quite a temper when it comes to her well-being.

And also Celestia's got a really mean left hook.

They called themselves "Markists", and they lived together in scattered towns and cities throughout America. They were distinguished from their neighbors by their colorful skin and hair colors, their doting affection for equines and equine puns in an era where the horse had almost completely disappeared from the popular imagination, and for an ability, verging on the supernatural, of always being able to find peaceful solutions to any conflict, no matter how intractable.

In the year 1985, the world's most popular living physicist and the best-known historian on network television teamed up to uncover the secrets behind this group, before the current standoff between the superpowers disintegrated into all-out atomic warfare. In the center of it all stood two women, living in two different eras, both named Celestia.

Sunset turns the entire world into ponies. The world is somewhat displeased by this.
