//------------------------------// // Celestia and Luna's Big Mistake // Story: Principal Chrysalis // by The Bricklayer //------------------------------// Nurse Redheart of Canterlot High had mixed feelings for her job. On one hand, she held a bit of pity for other school nurses, and on the other a bit of envy. The envy came from the fact that they probably didn't have to deal with half the stuff she did, and the pity came from the fact that she considered this the best job in the world. The teens here were wonderful, and rarely got into any trouble. However, when sickness came around, and it always did, this didn't matter very much. "So, let me get this straight. You came down with a cold, and instead of staying home like you should have..." Redheart began, looking at her latest patient, Snips before continuing. "You came to school anyway and quite possibly may have started a EPIDEMIC!?!" She shouted. Snips nodded stupidly. "Yeah, maybe... Wait, what's a epidemic?" He asked, and Redheart facehoofed. She muttered to herself. "I swear, how'd he get this far again...? Probably got the principal herself infected, and the vice too!" She grumbled before chuckling to herself. "Nah, what are the chances of that?" Pretty good actually. Principal Celestia was having a bad day. Yesterday wasn't so bad, she supposed but today, even though she was barely awake and hadn't even had her first cup of coffee yet was already turning out to be lousy. Why, you ask? Well, she'd contracted a cold. A nasty one at that. Well, there was only one thing for it. Time to call her sister and see if she could fill in. "H-hello... (Cough) Luna? You awake yet?" Please please be awake, and not be sick too Celestia hoped. Sadly, fate was not with her today and her hopes were to be dashed when a loud sneeze greeted her from the other end of the phone. Great. Just great. Yeah, it was official. Today sucked. "Tia, please don't tell me you've got... (Cough) one as well. Please please don't tell me you're sick as a dog." Luna wheezed out before sneezing once more. "I wouldn't quite put it that way, but yeah... So I am." Celestia said before she blew her nose. The sun shown in through the window. Why'd it have to be so damn cheery and happy as ever when she was feeling so miserable. It should be raining, it matched her mood alright. Celestia sneezed again. So did Luna. "So now what?" Luna asked. "We can't go to school like this." "Hire... Hire a substitute. Got no other choice... Have to." Celestia wheezed before coughing. Yeah, a doctor's appointment with Dr Horse was in order after this, for both of them. "You're... You're not serious. Not with those choices. No, I'm going. Better idea then yours." Luna groaned out before letting out a cough. "Or maybe not. But you're still not hiring one of THEM." She could feel her older sister's glare over the phone. She had a talent for that. "I have to. But which? Both of them is likely to give me a headache. Discord... NO! Almost certainly not." Celestia said before shuddering. She still remembered what it was like last time he filled in. She still had nightmares about him turning the school music hall into a rock and roll venue for hair metal bands, however that happened. "Well, there's always her I suppose..." Celestia murmured to herself, but Luna heard every bit of it and knew exactly who she was talking about. "You do know that sounds like the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas right? You know what she's like. She'll turn the school up-side down, like she did last time! Do you remember what happened with the Health Classes?" Luna panicked and shuddered before blocking the memories from her mind. It was best not to dwell on them. Least last time she was only filling in for the health teacher, so she couldn't do to much damage but who was to tell this time? "Hey, it's her or Discord. Take your pick." Luna thought for a moment before sighing. "I see your point. At least there'll be order. But this... This cannot turn out well. (Cough) (Cough)" She wheezed before hanging up. Celestia knew her sister had a point. But there was no choice. She just hoped the students wouldn't hate their guts after this. "Hey, anyone seen Principal Celestia or her sister? Haven't seen them all morning." Sunset Shimmer said to her friends. Twilight shrugged, and so did Rainbow and Applejack. Pinkie appeared behind Sunset, making her nearly jump. The only reason she did was she was used to Pinkie's surprises by this time. "Maybe she got abducted by evil space aliens along with her sister and now they're being dissected as we speak." Pinkie babbled in panic as she ran around. "I doubt that very highly." Rarity sniffed. "They're probably just late." "Late? Please." Starlight Glimmer said. She'd recently joined their little group after the Rainbooms had made friends with her over the summer break when they found her yelling about equality and human rights, and later exposing a local factory's ignorance of those rights. It had rapidly become quite obvious that her sense of order topped even Twilight's if that were possible. "They're never late. Something's got to have happened to them." She stated flatly. "So my alien theory's still viable, right?" Pinkie asked nervously. Rainbow facepalmed. It was then the sound of very loud music became obvious as a fancy black sports car of Italian make pulled out with the plates reading "Bug Girl" on them. Sunset felt a sense of impending doom and it was made worse with who stepped out. It was a woman with green hair, and a skirt that was nowhere near school dress code and what it allowed and yet somehow made it on campus. The woman grinned excitedly, almost like a tiger on the prowl. "Greetings. I'm your new substitute principal. You can call me Chrysalis." She said, and everybody present felt a sense of foreboding come over them. Sunset let out a small "Hoo boy..." Celestia and Luna did know their sub would bring order to the school and keep the students in line and they didn't know how right they were. Oh, she certainly did that alright by enforcing strict dress codes (Which she herself never seemed to follow) and imposing far too strict punishments to those who broke the rules. For example, when she found two students kissing in a broom closet she gave them detention for the rest of the week or just sent random people to her office for little things like looking her direction. And then there was what she pulled at soccer practice... "Come on, get it off me!" Rainbow panicked. It was a little known fact, and one Rainbow hoped to keep that way, that she was terrified of ants. Thankfully, she was saved when Lightning brushed the ant off her and stomped on it. Sadly, Chrysalis saw all of this and glared at both of them harshly. "MY office, both of you now!" She shouted. "What'd we do?" Lightning protested. "No, what did that bug do to you?" Chrysalis asked them. "He was innocent!" She cried while Rainbow grumbled something rude under her breath. Needless to say the only one happy about the new regime was Starlight, at least that was how it looked to everyone with her love of order. Nobody could really be sure, on the other hand as Starlight did have her limits but it was impossible to tell what they were. Not even Twilight liked it, which was saying quite a lot. At lunch, Sunset and her friends discussed the current situation. "This blows! Seriously, it does." Rainbow shouted in anger to anyone who'd listen while nearby Pinkie sat, her hair deflated from it's normal poofy style. "...She took away my party cannons." She mumbled sadly while Applejack patted her on the shoulder saying "There there, sugarcube." "Well, to be fair you did use them in Professor Pen's history class." Twilight said while in response Rainbow put it "And to be fair that dude really needs to lighten up." Pinkie's only response was to sob. Rarity gave her a tissue before adding in her own two cents. "Well I for one have had enough of this. I say we teach her a lesson. Who else among you girls is with me?" She asked. Rainbow nodded in agreement while Sunset sighed before nodding herself. Reason dictated this couldn't end well but she disliked the substitute more so she'd ignore reason for the time being. Applejack and Pinkie soon followed after with Twilight joining in last. "Well... I... I must admit I am feeling a bit rebellious." She said. Starlight, who had just arrived and overheard everything agreed as well as she heard loud rock music blaring from Chrysalis's office a few minutes before. Order her ass. She just wanted peace and quite so she could do whatever she wanted! "What a freaking hypocrite." Starlight muttered in disgust at herself for being so easily mislead. Hypocrites... She hated those kinds of people. Now there was only one person who had yet to agree. All eyes turned to Fluttershy who could only slip down in her chair and let out a small "Meep." "Flutters?" Rarity asked. What anyone got was the last thing they expected. "She took away my rabbit. My rabbit! And I was just showing off to a friend! SHE'S GOING TO PAY!" Fluttershy yelled furiously before noticing the stares that earned her. Another "Meep." escaped. "Let's do this." Sunset said. And so it began. Chrysalis quickly found herself head over heels in chaos that would have made Discord proud if he ever saw it. To give you some examples of how bad things became, at one point all the chairs in the math class had been glued to the desks so everybody had to stand. Also, balls had been found deflated in the gym by a "Unknown" source. (AKA Scootaloo and Featherweight.) Smoke bombs from Trixie's stash went off whenever someone opened up their lockers. Chrysalis was not happy. "Okay, I have a few announcements to make. One, as there are no balls to use Gym is now temporarily removed from your periods. Also, whoever covered my car in eggs, I have one thing to say. I am NOT amused." Rainbow and Sunset snickered and highfived, that was their work. They did wish they didn't have to ruin such a nice car though. Anyway, "Queen" Chrysalis as everybody called her when she wasn't around was just about at the end of her rope. Then there came the last straw. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOBODY'S SHOWN UP FOR CLASS!?!" Chrysalis yelled at Redheart in the Nurse's Office when she'd heard the news. Redheart remaind unfazed in spite of her boss's fury. It wasn't like she could really get fired by a sub, right? "That's what I said. As it seems, every student has come down with something they call "Chrysalis-Itis. Never heard of it before, but..." Redheart trailed off before shrugging. Anything to get rid of the woman was okay in her, even if it involved something that normally she'd sent someone to the principal's office for. Then again, how could you send a whole school? "AAAAAAAGGGGHHHH!" A few days later, both Luna and Celestia returned much to everyone's relief. "So, did everyone like the sub?" Celestia asked, tempting fate. It seemed she hadn't heard. At once, all in unison the whole school chorused "NO!" Celestia and Luna sighed. It seemed they should have called Discord after all. At least the students would have liked him. END
