It's been a while since Twilight Sparkle has heard from the changelings. Queen Chrysalis hasn't stirred any pots or burned any stews that Twilight hasn't heard of. Yet, when she is asked to visit the Changeling Hive for trade negotiations, she had to settle the score.

Twilight wished the score wasn't as shocking as it sounded, as Queen Chrysalis had more on her mind than just trade negotiations.

Sometimes, my mind wanders towards my sister-in-law. How she used to get so excited to see me, how her eyes used to glow with an optimism and love you just didn't see from anypony else.

How that glow disappeared one fateful afternoon.

It was supposed to be a normal meeting, a chance to catch up. That was when she asked me the question, one that I thought quite silly at the time.

Rating and tag for excessive alcohol consumption.

I have been branded a criminal for a crime I have no recollection of committing. The transgression of which I'm accused is evidently heinous enough that my friends, my family, and the rest of Equestria have turned against me. I want to say that I didn't do it, that it wasn't my fault, but I can't. The only thing I can say in my defense is that if the deed was truly done by my hoof, then it was done due to circumstances beyond my control.

I say this because I can't remember. I say this because I'm not allowed to remember. I say this because my mind is no longer my own. It belongs to the voice, you see. It crawled into my head one day—poured cruel and malicious words into my brain. I tried to fight it but it grew and grew and grew until was powerful enough to seep into my memories, my limbs, my magic. Now it won't let me go. It's taken my mind and body away from me. It does terrible things and hides the truth from me.

I am not mad, but under these circumstances what else can I do but plead insanity?

The events described take place before Season 1.

This story follows When Legends Meet, but it can also stand alone nicely.

Twilight has been struggling for weeks with the question of her own immortality.

With all other avenues of data-gathering seemingly exhausted, she asks Discord.

It’s the only logical thing to do, really. But only time will tell if it is wise.

The newly coronated Princess Twilight Sparkle discovers that the only reason she became royality was so that Princess Celestia could do merchandise of her.

But at least the action figures got a karate-action button.

It wasn't too long after the fight. It took everything she had to stop him but in the end nothing short of a miracle truly helped her.... and yet she couldn't help but feel that she could've done.... MORE. Now she seeks to rectify her mistake. But first.... she has to visit a few friends first.
