But when a freak tragedy and a burning academic curiosity ends with a four-year-old unicorn filly named Twilight Sparkle in her care, the Sun Empress suddenly finds herself grappling with emotions and demons that have lain dormant for centuries.

Is her newest, smallest protege the key to cooling her raging soul? Or are they both doomed to burn, like so much else in Daybreaker’s life is?

Long ago, when the world was first created, the great Queen of Ponykind crafted seven tribes in her image, each with an assigned duty to perform, and unique magic to aid them.

Today, there are only three, and a hoofful of what might be regarded as half breeds.

But then, what happened to the other four tribes?

The events prior to the great unification of Hearth's Warming are unclear, and solid evidence has proven difficult to find. But one thing has persisted through out the countless ages that may hold the answers: A series of legends recounting the fates of the lost pony tribes.

There aren't quiet nights in Appleoosa anymore. After a gang rolled in and kills the sheriff, there wasn't a whole lot the town could do to stop them. They had the guns, ponies, and pure mind for violence to keep the town under their iron-hoofed rule. The town has submitted to their rule, trying their hardest to eke out life until the Royal Guard notices that taxes have stopped rolling in and acts.

Or at least, so they think. Until a strange creature rolls into town. A tarnished iron star on his heavy duster, and iron on his hip. Now the only question is, who will kill them first.

The Enterprise is sent to investigate a bunch of mysterious signals that ripple from deep within an unexplored area of the Gamma Quadrant. In their investigations, they come across a strange creature—a small white unicorn with an adventurous spirit. Lost in space, she just wants to go home, and the mysterious signals are her best lead.

However, unexplored space is always filled with strange new worlds, vast mysteries... and dangers the likes of which no one can be prepared for.

The Mane 6 catch what they all think is a simple stomach bug, but things are not as they seem. Overnight, 6 dark trees sprout in and around Ponyville, sending the citizens into a panic, and no body can seem to find any of the Bearers of the Elements. Just to make things worse, soon after a variety of weird changeling subspecies start popping out of the odd trees, only making the panic worse!

And yet, these Changelings seem not to be aggressive? It's still very worrying though, let alone how they all keep talking about their Queens. Hopefully the princesses can handle this!

Saddle Arabia, a mysterious place as far at the ponies are concerned. Populated by horses that are not receptive to Princess Celestia. And a pony arrives in the desert, a pony with wings, and horn. A pony prince? he awakens in a strange land in a shroud of mystery. Not the least of which is his blank memory, inability to walk correctly, let alone fly. Who is this new stranger? And what is the strange magic that seems to surround and follow him? Is he a threat to those that have taken him in? Or will he be their champion?
