The Rainboom happens as it should, and a few certain fillies earn their cutie marks because of it. Except little Pinkamena Diane Pie, who went inside before she could witness it. Thus, she never left the rock farm.

That meant she wasn't in Ponyville to throw that party that inspired a runaway colt named Cheese Sandwich.

However, the two end up meeting in adulthood, and the broke wanderer Cheese takes a job at the rock farm, and works alongside the grumpy Pinkamena and her family.

My take on an AU, created upon realizing that Cheese Sandwich was indirectly affected by the Sonic Rainboom. And in case you're wondering, the whole eternal night thing goes the same way as the show (except a different mare--whoever you imagine--wields the Element of Laughter).

It is in the nature of an enigma to confound reason, and sometimes, the bafflement caused to others is rivaled only by the confusion of the source. Pinkie Pie couldn't begin to explain how or why spending time with her Ponyville friends had slowly become a chore, or why seeing them so happy with their significant others made her heart ache. Forcing a smile became a daily routine that weighed heavily upon the once happy mare, and one day, she reached the end of her strength and retreated to the one place that she knew she could feel safe: her family's rock farm. The support and concern of her kin didn't answer the questions, though, and even removed from every reminder of what was left behind, the void only seemed to grow.

A tale of a fun-loving pony struggling to accept the realities of maturity, and of the stallion that would help her find the answers, one faltering step at a time.

Fluttershy receives an invitation to the Pie family's rock farm, the letter asking if she could help them deal with a massive creature known as a Rock Lizard. And with both Holder's Boulder and the farm itself possibly at risk, there is little room for error.

However, in order to do this, Fluttershy must work with Limestone Pie. But while Limestone's attitude seems intimidating at first, there's more to her and the Pie family as a whole than Fluttershy could've ever imagined.

Big Mac decides it's high time he went courting. Working on the Pie farm seems like a fine way to prove his worth and get to know Marble and her family. She's a pretty, demure little mare and she seems to like him. He does not foresee any major obstacles.

After volunteering to help an injured pony, she finds herself with the opportunity to realize her aspirations of becoming a cook. She also meets the professional, yet personable Horte Cuisine. With the date of her return to the family rock farm looming, she begins to question whether she should return to the gray world she has always known, or stay in Ponyville and pursue her dreams and newly formed relationship.

The Pies are a quiet family of Earth Ponies. They farm rocks for a living and have very peculiar traditions even among earth ponies.

They are also some of the physically strongest and capable fighters on the planet.

The changeling army that swarms in on their doorstep seem sure that they are going to be able to plant their new hive on this farm. Igneous and his Wife Cloudy along with their daughters have another idea in mind.
