Every pony in Equestria knows the names Octavia Philharmonica and Vinyl Scratch. Every musician in Equestria knows and reveres their talent and most semi-jokingly complain that Octavia and Vinyl's relationship should count as a monopoly on musical talent. Very few know their early story, years ago when Octavia had only just left Canterlot Conservatory and Vinyl was... well, being Vinyl.

Octavia is going broke. With not many high paying jobs this time of year she opts for a roommate. And this particular dubstep loving unicorn will turn her world upside down.

My second multi-chapter fic. Tell me what you think. Teen rating is more for stuff being said, but if something does come up I will mention it at the beginning of the chapter.

Tempest feels a little discouraged. Learning the piano is so, so difficult, especially without a horn.

Octavia is a polite mare on her way up to fame as a cellist. She was brought up in a strict manner in order to be the perfect member of a perfect family. It was an annoyance at times, and she felt trapped. Of course, Octavia rebelled against it; her family knew what was best and what kind of pony wouldn't want to be perfect?

One day, she meets a homeless mare named Vinyl Scratch and immediately takes her in and asks her to be her servant. Vinyl opens Octavia's eyes, telling her that she's capable of making her own decisions, and that her family simply needed to accept her.

With a broken hoof and only a day left to record her latest piece, Octavia must rely on her roommate to assist her in playing.

Assist her in an awkwardly intimate half-embrace, that is.

Octavia has no idea where she is. She has no contact with the outside world. There is no hope of escape. There is only one instruction: "Play".

Pulled into a strange world where myth and legends are real. Unable to communicate to the native creatures here, or even able to move for that matter... How is a human supposed to adapt to this strange world, or even manage to keep his sanity when he is encased in stone.

After rising to stardom following Rarity's first, poorly received fashion show, Vinyl Scratch struggles to adapt to the higher class of life celebrity status bestows. Her personality and own moral values do not mix with the fake, corporate ideals of her agent, and her sponsors are only interested in her as long as she conforms to their expectations. Her life is barely her own and soon she will have to decide what's more important; her existing relationships, her fame and fortune, or perhaps something unexpected in the form of a refreshingly grounded Canterlot Elite who just invited her to breakfast during the Canterlot Music Convention.

A Vinyl Scratch x Octavia story where the two Ponies involved don't instantly form a romantic relationship the moment they meet, and instead allows it to grow over time with good old character development.

Dejected, depressed, and guilt-ridden, Vinyl attempts to drown her sorrows in several glasses of liquor, but soon discovers that hard-drinking won't help make amends, or make her feel any better about what happened.

After a long day, Octavia goes home and pours herself a stiff drink.
