Being an alicorn is suffering. To be reborn by phoenix fire into a creature of eternal youth and beauty, only to later become a draconequus, a soulless monster of despair and insanity. But even after learning the horrible truth behind her ascension, Celestia refuses to believe that Discord's soul is truly lost. So with Philomena at her side, she ventures into Discord's labyrinth in order to save him and protect her own wish, even as her stubborn delusion could mean losing both.

A young phoenix is born into a war torn land and witnesses the coming of a new era in Equestria.

Cadence, a young alicorn living in the Celestial Kingdom, has a desire to become a normal pony because she hates living in this seemingly perfect place. After accidentally saving the prince of Canterlot, she in a desperate attempt to try to be with the prince she just came in contact with, sells her identify to Chrysalis the Changling Queen in order to become a normal pony. However, without her identity the stallion doesn't recognize her, and she can't tell him anything about her. So, she must start back at square one, and must get the prince to kiss her before the sun sets on the 3rd day otherwise she will belong to Chrysalis for FOREVER.

A story inspired by Disney's The Little Mermaid, but not a direct retelling of it with ponies.
