//------------------------------// // Chapter VII - Goodbye 2020, see ya NEVER. // Story: The Legend Starts // by 654_nosneb //------------------------------// My alarm triggered again, and I mentally prepared myself for another tedious Monday; but as my front hands touched the floor, I knew that I was a human again. I checked on Melissa and mom, they were back to normal as well, but they were still asleep. I stood up on my legs and went to the kitchen to make a great breakfast. I don't know how to feel, on one hand, we are human again! On the other hand, I'll miss flying. Anyways, now's time to make breakfast. I think that some toasts will do just fine. "But sir!" Gregory exclaimed. "Another attempt to kidnap the fillies will be punished by the law! If you do it, then you'll be..." "THERE'S NO TIME FOR THOSE FORMALITIES ANYMORE, GREGORY!" Osvaldo shouted. "If I'm right, humanity just has 50 more years to avoid the climate disaster that is approaching. Those fillies and their magic are the only thing that could save our society as we know it. You saw their power, you saw what they can do! No, you experimented it," he paused a second before continuing. "In a few decades, history books will tell about my heroic sacrifice, but for now, I'll be a lawbreaker if I have to. The only thing that's left to answer is: will you follow me?" "Even to the end of the world," Gregory responded without hesitation, "brother." Another year was about to end, and this time, I REALLY want it to end. Most of the time, I like to end the year with a little goodbye for it, and remember what I liked the most. But not this year. This year I just wanna say: Goodbye 2020 see you NEVER. Well, if I had to say a good thing about this year, it will definitely be the experience of flying; that's a memory I'll keep in my heart until the day I die. Due to our friend the COVID, we were going to stay at home for this new year. Although we want to do something special, so we decided to cook tons of food varieties, and buy some decorations. In a matter of 30 minutes, our backyard was completely decorated with lights, a table, and other colorful stuff. We celebrated Christmas five days ago, and now we were going to do it again with new year. Mom gave me some money to buy groceries for tomorrow's celebrations, so I put on my facemask, and headed (by walking) to the nearest supermarket. Inside, I saw almost no one buying stuff, it's like people had forgot that tomorrow is the last day of the year. It's so sad how people have forgot how to celebrate due to the pandemic, I hope that they're ok. I made my way through the aisles, picked up some tomatoes, different kinds of pasta, and some rice. I was about to go and pay for everything, when something happened: "Sir, could you help me?" a young, crying voice spoke from behind me. "I-I'm lost." "Sure thing little kid, do you know where are your pare..." I stopped talking as I noticed the unicorn colt in front of me. "Please don't be afraid of me!" he exclaimed. "I don't know why, but a few moments ago I was normal, and now I'm... this." I didn't know how to answer him, but I knew that his mom was somewhere, so after a few seconds, I said: "She should still be somewhere around. Come on! Let's find her!" "Ok sir," the kid responded with shyness. I placed the colt on top of my head, and I started searching. The mother should have lost him when he transformed, and she'll never leave without her child, so she should still be around the supermarket. And due to the lack of people, and the small size of the supermarket, it'll be a easy task. As we were making our way through the store, I noticed that few people that were there stared at us with fear. I tried not to think too much on it and focused on helping the child. "So, how does your mom looks like?" "Well she's not tall, has blond hair, wears glasses and... Wait, there she is!" he exclaimed while pointing a hoof to a woman that fulfilled those characteristics. I then left the young one on the floor and he rushed to hug his mom with his forelegs. The woman reacted a bit confused and she asked: "Excuse me... little one, who are you?" "It's me mom!" the boy exclaimed, "your son, Oscar!" "Oscar!" the woman replied. "I was so worried, what happened to you?" "I don't know mom," he explained himself, "I don't know." The family reunion lasted a bit longer; I might arrive home a bit late for this, but it's truly worth it. With the groceries on my hands, I headed home. Tomorrow I'll make some of my best creations to celebrate the end of this horrible year. When I arrived home, I was about to rang the doorbell, when Luna appeared with a flash of her magic in front of me. She looked scared, a bit sweaty, and with an injured cheek. When she noticed me, she exclaimed: "William, you gotta help Tia!" "Why, what happened?" "The-the researchinc scientists; they have Tia on their helicopter!" "They WHAT!" I exclaimed with anger. "The helicopter just leaved, but I managed to escape by teleporting. What should we do?" I saw the helicopter flying away in the distance, and since Luna couldn't do it, just one idea popped in my mind. "Do you think that you could transform me into an alicorn again? That way I can go there and rescue Celestia before it's too late." "Well, I..." she mumbled, "I don't think it's possible." "Please, Luna, at least try," I begged. "This could be our only chance to rescue Tia." "Ok, I'll try," she said as her horn glowed and enveloped me on its dark blue aura. "Are you ready?" "Yes," I replied with determination. The helicopter was flying away very fast, but I was faster than it, I was faster than any living being on this planet. My wings never flapped this fast, and my horn glowed with rage as I approached to the airship. Then, I blasted a magical beam to the helicopter, nothing too strong, just shocking enough to stop its acceleration. I flew faster, and faster, until then: BAM! A rainbow explosion occurred behind me, but I didn't pay attention to it. Now, my focus was on saving Celestia. Another BAM! My front hooves crashed into the helicopter's door, and in an instant, I was in. I saw a sleeping Tia (probably because some substance), a group of armed people, and a guy in a white robe. "Ah!" the guy with the white robe shouted. "What the..." "Listen to me!" I exclaimed. "Are you guys out of your minds! What you're doing right now is ILLEGAL! Now let out Tia and..." "Oh, you should be William," the same guy replied, "I'm Gregory, the second in charge of this operation, and if you don't wanna have..." Bam! I blasted him with magic, making him crash into the cockpit. The other guys aimed his weapons to me, and then, I knew what I had to do. I jumped to where Tia was and, well, I... Teleported! My horn flashed, and in an instant, I and Tia were back on the ground. After recovering/vomiting from the spell I just casted, I placed the young filly on my back, and started our way back home. I wish that a less uncomfortable way of teleporting existed, that left me so dizzy that I don't even wanna fly for now. What the f*ck they were thinking? The weight of the law won't let them alone from now on. "The weight of the law won't left us alone!" Gregory exclaimed to his brother. "What are we going to do now?" "Pack our stuff," Osvaldo replied, "we're leaving to the forest," he said as he placed some papers on his car. "But make sure that the world gets our vaccine." "Ok," was all that Gregory replied. "This is just the beginning," the director mumbled to himself. "Next year will be a heavy one for the Tylers.
