Why It's Awesome: This is kind of like an MLP version of "It's a Wonderful Life" only it's much more a lesson about not worrying about the "What ifs" in life. It's a very good lesson and it's very well executed. In addition, the alternate timelines are very well fleshed out and each is very unique. The crux of the story is the lesson, but it's also very interesting to see the different paths Starlight's life may have gone.

Both sides of the argument (Twilight explains her side as to why she thinks the Princess is a god) make valid points, but the solution in the end perfectly describes what Celestia has truly been to pony kind during the entire show the series, and in a way, Twilight's conclusion about who Celestia really is to PonyKind can kind of resemble what we as people strive to be for the those who are close to us. Quite an interesting tale, this is.

GAPDashie does an excellent job at portraying Rainbow's mental struggle and how it's causing her all sorts of grief. In addition, Discord, while only in the story barely, shows just how much of a mastermind of a villain he truly is.
Oh, And Also: This story was published in 2012, no idea why it hasn't garnered more attention. than barely over a thousand views.

Why It's Awesome: Remember that SpongeBob episode, "Pranks A Lot" and that one Drax moment in Infinity War? It's basically those two things put together for 3,000 words and all the comedy is absolutely spot on. The lengths The three mares and Dragon go to keep the ruse going is hilarious, as well as the ire generated as a result.Chrysalis is also very petty in this story, and it's just hilarious to see her do petty things when she's taken over bloody Equestria before. It's hard for me to praise this story without spoiling the comedy, so I'll just hint at one moment that's my favorite, it involves Spike and a sushi roll, all I'll say. This story really needs to be read to be believed, had me in stitches.

Both of these worries are very rational fears, but one must overcome that fear in order to continue doing writing. It only got published this morning, but I think this deserves the spot in the RCL because it manages to perfectly depicts the mindsets of many authors on this site, including myself. I will freely admit this story reminded me a lot of myself, and that's probably why I'm recommending it, because this story truly resonated with me as a writer, and I'm sure others out there will as well.

Why It's Awesome: This story is actually kind of interesting depending on your interpretation. On one hand, it's an excellent subversion to the ever popular "Twilight angsts over being immortal" and instead has her look on the positive side, thinking about all the things she's able to do now. However, and I don't know if it's just me, but I can't shake the feeling that this is actually Twilight slowly going insane as a result of her new immortality. Let me explain. While Twilight's pondering may seem positive and upbeat to some; look at it from a different perspective, and it sounds like the ravings of a mad scientist. Not even kidding, read the story and see if you agree with me, it's actually kind of fascinating. I'm both very awed and conflicted by this story, which is something a fiction on this site has never done to me before.

This story was a resonate, immersive tale that managed to showcase the perspectives of both Spike and Starlight as they reflected on the previous night. The way they almost unwillingly flash back to that night, the way they manage to confide in Rarity and Big Mac. Not to mention FamousLastWords writing style flows so well that it might as well be an ocean that I'm just letting it take me wherever it wants to go. I hope Famous ends up in the RCL at some point, even if it isn't this story, because he is a special author, and stories like this prove it.

The bond between Rainbow Dash and Lightning is amazing to see form, and the way we get to see Rainbow's thoughts on the Pegasus evolve as she writes a letter to Twilight is a stroke of genius. The duo's Doctor, Doctor Stables, is also a very likeable character as well that plays her own role in getting the two to bond. Lightning himself is such a realistic, well-rounded character as well, and he manages to win readers over with his very first words to Rainbow Dash. LunaUsesCaps does an amazing job at writing a funny and heartwarming, yet heart wrenching story that manages to create two very likable new characters.

It has an amazing lesson about how people change or people close to you can get depressed and that it's something they'll have to live with for the rest of their life. In my view, It's an amazing metaphor for depression that shows how it sets on and how it can be treated in a blunt and evocative way, it almost had me in tears. In the words of one commenter, "Simply Breathtaking."

Despite this, Chrysalis' reformation here was amazingly well done and the show's writers could learn a thing a two from this story. Also, this story is really funny. All I'll say.

What It's About: Baked Bean is one of many tourists in Canterlot, but when a chance encounter with Princess Celestia accidentally invokes an old law, he is becomes Prince Baked Bean, husband of princess Celestia.
Why It's Awesome: What can I NOT say about this story? Baked Bean is an amazingly well-rounded character with personality. This is one of the finest interpretations of Celestia to date, one that allows the reader to peel back at the layers along with Bean. The relationship between Bean and Celestia is amazing to watch develop, and there's even a lot of very well put together SIDE characters, such as Bean's extended family and Wysteria, Celestia's secretary. All in all, this is a funny, adorable, character saturated story that shows an amazing progression of an OC marrying and falling for Celestia (In that order.).
Oh, And Also: A few things.
1. It has 1230 thumbs up, and only 29 thumbs down
2. Dr. Blankflanks reviewed the story, if you wish to see his thoughts on it.
3. This story has a sequel called "This Nose Knows" that is still ongoing and manages to build off this one AMAZINGLY well. However, as it is incomplete, I can't recommend it... yet. I will recommend you check it out though IMMEDIATELY after reading this, because the more Bean you read, there better you'll be.

What It's About: When a mysterious vigilante begins terrorizing the Manhattan underworld, it's up to the Mane Six to investigate. But as they dig deeper and deeper, they discover that there's a lot more to this "Night Terror" than they ever could have imagined.
Why It's Awesome: This story isn't really about the Mane Six, where this story shines is how we're introduced to the "Night Terror." That's not his real identity, but part of this story's excellence and intrigue is the journey the reader and the Mane Six take to learn more about him. It's also an amazing discussion about the inherent evil that can be found in all beings. The "Night Terror" character is essentially an exploration into the forms that evil can take, why people can turn to evil, and how evil thoughts can change people's beliefs. In addition, the extended fight sequence at the end of the story is very well written and doesn't hold anything back. It's one of the more... gritty MLP stories I've read, and I think it serves this story well.

What It's About: Based on the Conversion Bureau stories, a Great War between Ponies and humans has come and gone. The Ponies have lost. This series tackles the aftermath. Many have perished. Friendships have been broken. Leaders have fallen.
Why It's Awesome: I recommend these stories together because they do a fantastic job of building it's world. Even though we aren't taken through every single day of the war, we don't need too. Each story gives us little tidbits of the war and the significance it holds. The first story is a great introduction, and then sets the scene for the second story, which was a very well written emotional reunion between Twilight and Fluttershy, who ended up on opposite sides of the war. It also showed how ponies and humans are integrating. The third story gives us some insight into WHY Equestria was teleported into the human dimension in the first place and some more insight into the war. The fourth shifts perspective to a group of Freedom Fighters that refuse to let the war die, which provides an interesting perspective of the Human vs. Pony conflict and shows just how broken some of these friendships are. And the final two stories shift the focus to Spike as he comes to grips with the fact he will now outlive all his friends in this new world. HIGH Props goes to "Future," which not only utilizes Discord very well, but does an amazing job of closing the series by mourning over the past, but giving hope for the future. Rated Ponystar did a great job with this world.

Why It's Awesome: This story did an AMAZING job at portraying Celestia's grief over Twilight. While we do never get to see the actual assassination happen (only it's aftermath), this story really didn't need it. In addition, we get a very interesting interaction between Celestia and Twilight Velvet that actually puts a sad spin on the Sparkle family producing two important ponies.
