After spending more time with his cherished friend, Sunburst finally decides to work up the courage to propose to Starlight Glimmer.

But mentor Twilight Sparkle and big sister Sunset Shimmer have mixed feelings about this.

It is the eve of the Summer Sun celebration, a tradition that has remained unchanged in Equestria for millennia. For Princess Luna it is one of the few things that goes exactly the same way it did before her exile, and she treats it with just as much respect as she once did. She also never had any doubts that her sister treated it the same way, even after a thousand years alone.

Sunset Shimmer is well respected, and has gained a lot of trust over the past year. So when Princess Twilight entrusted her with watching over her one and only niece, she was thrilled.

But one slip of the tongue around the toddler could break that trust.

Will she beg a mortal enemy for mercy, not for herself but for an innocent foal? She is already willing to die for her child so what else could she give to be certain of the filly's sustained happiness?

This is my entry for the EFNW 2014 Writing Contest. I'm really happy with it so it doesn't matter whether I win or not. Seriously I'm glad I got to tell this story.

Cheerilee always thought she had something special with Big Macintosh, at least ever since that love poison fiasco a few Hearts and Hooves Days ago. But when word seeps out that Big Mac has found a new romantic partner in form of a baker named Sugar Belle, Cheerilee is devastated.

Struggling to come to terms with this revelation, Cheerilee tries to convince herself that this development is for the best. But then she's suddenly surprised when Big Mac shows up after school, in order to confess something rather important to her.

But is the confession what Cheerilee thinks it is?

When she confronts her former mentor about it, she learns some interesting things about definitions, technicalities, and necromancy.

More importantly, she learns that even the greatest of ponies have their weaknesses.

A/N: Mostly TwiLestia friendshipping, and lots of headcanon. Also one or two cameos.

Garble has won the Gauntlet of Fire and taken the Bloodstone Scepter. Upon hearing of this, Celestia, determined to stop the bloodthirsty Dragon Lord in his tracks, challenges him to a one-on-one duel for the fate of Equestria and the Dragonlands. An immortal alicorn capable of moving the sun with millennia of experience under her belt versus a teenaged dragon with no experience at all.
