Every pony in Equestria knows the names Octavia Philharmonica and Vinyl Scratch. Every musician in Equestria knows and reveres their talent and most semi-jokingly complain that Octavia and Vinyl's relationship should count as a monopoly on musical talent. Very few know their early story, years ago when Octavia had only just left Canterlot Conservatory and Vinyl was... well, being Vinyl.

We all believe in something. But what do you believe in?

A few answers to that question, written in 500 words or less.

This story is a sequel to Cast in Fire

Harmony. A goal that many have tried for and lost. Only a few nations ever obtained this peaceful state, and through tears of sweat and blood, Equestria became the very icon of it. Dark forces, however, wanted to break the land of ponies into a state of chaos, and will do so by reviving the old foes of Equestria.

Elsewhere, in the lands of Magistrum - the sister country of Equestria - a Pegasus by the name of Kenta Silvercast had received news about his father's disappearance, and soon afterwards, a formal invitation to attend the most esteemed magic school in all of Magistrum: Magistrate Academy. Little did he know, he and his friends were about to get pulled into a wild quest to retrieve a lost book of Star Swirled the Bearded. A book that should never fall into the wrong hands, or else the entire world shall fall into chaos.

Princess Luna was angry upset at her sister for not spending enough time with her. Very angry upset. So Celestia, goddess of the sun, decided to introduce her to video games. Thanks to the invention of the Interactive Pony Visor, Luna could now freely explore the virtual realm of video games. These are her documented adventures in the world of virtual reality and fun.

Amidst the hustle and bustle and busy activity surrounding such a joyous occasion, Violet Tempest, Rainbow Dash's younger sister, arrives in Ponyville, in order to start out on her journey to find a direction for her life, something that will bring her the same joy and happiness she sees in the love between her sister and her soon to be sister-in-law.

* This is Book 4 in the AppleDash series written by The Lotus Tea Dragon. It is recommended that you read "Of Clouds, Seeds, and Apple Trees" (Book 1), "Saddlebags, Sun, and On the Run" (Book 2), and "Hearth's Warming Heart (Book 3) before reading this volume. It is not, however, necessary.

Everypony loves a good party to ring in the New Year, celebrating the completion of the old and the promise of the new. There's friends and family, fireworks for some, crackers and decorations, the midnight kiss, and, for many, a bit too much alcohol.

Thus enter our story where somepony awakes on the first of the year, completely oblivious to the night before. Who did they see? What did they do? What did they say? It's potentially all downhill from here as they ask the one question on everypony's mind:

What the hay happened last night?

In this collab, each author chose a single pony or non. They were tasked with having this character awaken with little to no memory of the previous night's celebrations. This character would then go on a search to find out exactly what happened. The idea was to create a bit of mystery--and probably a fair bit of comedy--in really trying to make it a sort of discovery for both the character and the author.
