[Luna Plays] Important Announcements (Like Please Read) · 3:43am May 28th, 2015
Hello fine readers of Luna Plays (or at least, the last few remaining loyal fans of the story). It has been a VERY long while since the story has been updated. The term 'hiatus' might not even be qualified to describe how long it's been. I'm very sorry for this, and I don't really have any good excuses as to why it has taken a long while. Well okay I may have a bit of an explanation, but it's ultimately it doesn't really justify the fact that I may have wasted the time of anybody who were still waiting for OP (that'd be me) to update Luna Plays.
Which is why I've been thinking about it for a while and decided on a new play for the story. Most of you may hate me for it, but at least hear me out on the matter.
But first off before I begin revealing my plans for Luna Plays, I would like to take this moment to showcase a silly story of a friend's that doesn't take itself seriously but is still a decent read to have in your off-times. It's called... well it's a severely long title so I'll just place the story's cover art down below that will take you to the story upon clicking it.
It is written by Super Trampoline. You may or may have not heard of him. He's rather silly himself and we get along pretty well. As for the story itself, well it's purely for jest and fun. If you're expecting anything serious out of this, you may be disappointed (unless you consider shipping to be a very serious game).
I'm promoting the story because I made a submission to the story myself and after sweet 5 months of waiting, he finally uploaded the chapter (the bastard took so fucking long), and I appreciate the wait.
But yeah to give you all the gist of what the story is about: you see that picture above? Yeah that's a chapter. A SHIPPING chapter to be precise. We all on the same page? Cool. If silly crackshipping happens to be in your taste, I recommend it. Each chapter is short and sweet and you might appreciate some of the humor in it.
But yes moving onto the ACTUAL plans I've made for Luna Plays.
Luna Plays
So to make things short, I'm basically rewriting the story from scratch once again. This would be the third time I've done it, but this time I'm doing things a little differently and I have a few reasons.
1: All of the Luna Plays chapters that are currently up right now to this date? I'm moving them into a "different" story that will remain unpublished and be titled "Old 'Luna Play' Chapters". The first reason for this is quite obvious. If I'm doing a new story, I outta start with a clean slate. Of course I know there would be some consequences to this such as some of you complaining that the old chapters were fine and "I still want to read them sometimes for nostalgia's sake!" Nostalgia is actually poison look at Genwunners.
Well to remedy that situation I'm offering the alternative which is what I just mentioned. The old chapters won't be gone. They're just moving to a different location. And also reasons for leaving that particular 'domain' unpublished is because it would be considered "republishing the same story" if I were to try to get it through moderation, and I'd rather like to NOT deal with any sort of the moderators' sass.
In sort, the story holding the old chapters is going to stay unpublished and it'll be that way FOREVER. So don't complain if you still want to read the old chapters sometimes. This is the best I can do for this.
And don't worry a link to the old chapters will be provided in actual Luna Plays' description. Should that fail to capture your attention (which would surprise me and maybe give me a little disappointment), I'm providing the link down below RIGHT NOW. In BIG letters. It's hard to miss.
Old 'Luna Plays' Chapter
2: Fresh start means I can do better with the story in terms of quality writing and more importantly: CONSISTENCY. You see a long time ago (and I'm not sure if anybody remembers me saying this), Luna Plays has a tie-in with the universe of Equestrian Earth (another story that's on hiatus but is slowly making a come back in terms of updates). This is basically due to the fact that both stories shares a key element in the form of virtual reality tech that are the one and the same. Both uses the IPV [Interactive Player(Pony) Visor] and the VR3D-OMG [Virtual Reality 3D-Online Maneuver Gear], which are video game 'consoles' that allows the user to interact with video games on a very intimate level, as expected of any sort of virtual reality controllers.
However that's where the consistency problems reside. You see, I've been talking with my editor and when the topic of the IPV came up, I remember that (spoiler alert) Luna helped out with creating the virtual reality tech to begin with since it utilizes dreamwalking magic to help simulate virtual reality in the user's mind. There's backstory behind the inventions for ya. Hope you aren't too upset with reading that, but it's necessary to explain the inconsistency. In Luna Plays, Luna didn't have any sort of association. However in Equestrian Earth, she did. Well until the editor said I should make the backstory flow as smooth as possible, so the large exposition paragraphs explaining the story behind the IPV and/or the VR3D-OMG in Equestrialn Earthare gone.
So yeah in short: better start, better quality, and more consistency between Equestrian Earth and Luna Plays.
3: Voting. As soon as the couple chapters introducing Luna Plays are done, I will be holding voting polls from time to time to determine what video game Luna would play next. This hopefully this way I can actually get new chapters out for the story periodically and most of the readers would get what they want. Of course this poll thing won't be for every chapter. There are certain video games I want Luna to play such as Witcher 3 haha superspoilers and its super fun 10/10, so polls won't happen every time but you can expect them to be common.
Here is how the polls will work:
There will be two rounds of poll voting. The first round will be to select which genre of video gaming Luna will tackle. The first round of voting will last up to three days, so there is plenty of time to vote for a genre.
After the first round of voting is over and the most picked genre is chosen, there will be a second round of voting where I give you a selection of video games of that particular genre to vote on. These selections will vary from classics to relevance. Whatever video games I pick is what you get. If you want to make suggestion in the comments, that's fine with me. Who knows I may pick your suggestion, but no promises. However if there is a video game you desperately want to see Luna play in the story... well I'll get to that later in a bit.
In each poll rounds there will at least be a minimum of three choices that I'll pick. Please note that the power of the poll DEPENDS on your participation. If there are only a few voters participating, chances are I'll just discard that poll, pick whatever video game I want Luna to play, and try another poll again later. However if there are many people voting (like maybe ten or more), then I'll oblige to the poll. If you want to influence which video games Luna plays, you'll want to participate in the polls. I can't emphasize that enough. (Also I just remember Luna Plays and Let's Play have the same initials lol.)
4: Guest Chapters! This time I'll be accepting submissions from anyone willing to write for the story. Credit will be given to you if you choose to submit a chapter for Luna Plays. Why you would want to could be for many reasons. Maybe for a chance to get your name out there in Fimfic? Or perhaps there's a particular video game you REALLY want to see Luna play.
Of course, there must be regulation. First off if you want to make a guest submission to Luna Plays, you must come to ME first. How you'll do that, I'm not quite sure. For now I suppose privately messaging me through Fimfic's mail system will work. That'll be the most direct way to get my attention. Also make sure you specifically title the message about wanting to write a Guest Chapter for the story, or I might get confused on what you want with me.
Second of all, I won't judge you for your writing quality. I'm sure you'll try your best, but there are some things in writing that WILL irk me. Examples would be HEAVY grammar problems and OCs that don't really convince me that they're good characters (good being subjective in this case). But so long as your idea and writing are okay, I'm fine with that.
Of course, that would mean I can't accept every single idea for a Guest Chapter and I may not even reply back. Reasons why would be situations where I would be swamped in submission requests and I might possibly miss your PM. If I am to do this Guest Chapter deal, I NEED moderation. So if you want to submit a Guest Chapter, be ABSOLUTELY SURE you're willing to commit. I won't take half-assed requests.
And be rest assured that if your chapter does indeed get featured in the story, I WILL credit you for writing the chapter and provide a link back to your account for the readers to check out. It'll be loads of fun, I believe.
Now as for the people who are "co-authoring" the story... well things happened and we don't really talk to each other that much, so I'm not sure about the whole state of LP's co-authors. But if they're still willing to be active with the story, you can be sure to expect some Co-Author chapters.

Also PLEASE don't try to bug me to write a chapter for a specific video game that you want to see. Please look at reason Number 3 or 4 for my answer to that. While we're on that topic, don't bug the co-authors about that as well. Please be respectful is what I'm trying to say, I guess.
Oooh... Luna Plays! I haven't had a ponies-playing-video-games fix for a while! That said, I have one question:
How long to guest submissions have to be? Do you want something like 1000, or 10,000? An approximate word count would do wonders for the people who may be interested.

On the Matter of Minimum Word Count for Guest Chapters
It's not required, but I would like it if the chapter is at least above 1000 words. But the pacing and length of the chapter depends on the video game itself.
If it's a simple, short game like Meatboy or Hexagon, the length itself would be best short. However if it's a game like Skyrim, people would most likely expect a longer chapter. You get what I mean?
The more complex a game is, the longer a chapter can be for pacing. XCOM Enemy Unknown and the Portal games are also example of games with complexity.
If the game have some CoOp, then ya obviously longer if there is to be interactions between Luna and her second player.
