Rather than being terrified at the news of a failed changeling invasion, Trixie was intrigued by the idea of a race of illusionists. If there was one thing she could respect, it was a convincing illusion. As soon as she heard they made their home in the Badlands, her path was clear.

Days later, she hasn't learned any magic. Strangely, she's found that she doesn't mind.

Twilight isn't having a very good day. An experimental spell blew up in her face, an army of changelings is attacking Canterlot, and she just died. Yet somehow, it looks like it's going to keep going downhill from here.

Given the chance to correct what's gone wrong, Twilight swears she's going to fix all this even if it kills her. Which it will. Frequently.

This story is a sequel to The Perfect Little Village of Ponyville

After Vinyl Scratch helps Twilight to escape from the deadly dreams the Elements of Harmony have all been trapped in, they decide to head back to save the others, and to start with the dream world of Pinkie Pie, since she surely would be the best guide to get them through the dreams of anypony.

In retrospect, two ponies treading alone into the mind of the pony with Pinkamena in her head might have been a less than wise decision...

When Canterlot has to be evacuated for a week Twilight offers her parents a place to stay.
Trouble is, while Twilight is a grown up, independent pony who has saved the world (At least three times) Her parents still treat her like she's a filly.
Her father is going through a mid-life crisis.
And her mother is trying to set her up with every single stallion in Equestria.

This is going to be a LONG week.

One changeling's target gives her the means to save her hive from starvation. By bringing a legend to life, Cicada tries a new approach at aquiring love for sustenance, and makes an unlikely friend in the process. But when her plan starts to fall apart, will she be able to keep it together, and do what it takes to save the hive?
