This story is a sequel to The Celestia Code

When the monsters created by the dark crystal engine escape their prison, it's up to Princess Twilight Sparkle to deal with them. She gets help and advice from Princess Luna, but things don't go as planned. The Badass Twilight tag applies more than ever, but please note the new tags.

This story is a fairly direct continuation of The Celestia Code. You might be able to follow it without having read The Celestia Code first, but it's better if you do.

The sequel is here: The Twilight Enigma

Most excellent pre-reading/editing done by the erudite AcademicPony and the dapper statoose!

Lapis-Lazuli presents...
When a strange and mysterious magical accident drags poor young Sweetie Belle through a rogue portal in space and time, it will be up to Twilight and her friends to rescue her from an unknown fate. Of course, they're going to have to rescue themselves as well, seeing as how they have no idea how to get home. Faced with madpony scientists, ruthless mobsters and fanatical pony supremacists, it will take every ounce of gumption, style, and genre savvy for them to survive long enough to find a way back to the Equestria they all know and love. But the strange new world they find themselves in does not want to let them leave, and it's not alone in its desire to keep them there...

A falling out. An argument. Blatant misuse of magic. Whatever the reason was, it has long since been shrouded in mystery. While the rest of the world has turned, Equestria has stagnated, haunted by the ghosts of the past.

But... perhaps the ghost is needed to save the haunted.

Some memories never fade.

For Rainbow Dash, there's too much truth in that statement. The war, the fall of Cloudsdale, and especially the death of her closest friend all remain as vibrant in her tired mind as if it were happening to her for the first time.

Meanwhile, another has taken a forbidden road to escape the darkness in her past, and in doing so, she may plunge Equestria into darkness once again.

With everything on a silent path to destruction, the only one able to stop it may be too conflicted with her own feelings to save her home, her friends, her country... herself. Will she even be able to reach the answers hidden in the shadows?

After all... some things are best left forgotten.

This is the sequel to "The Eversleep". It is not necessary to read that story first.

After an urgent call to the castle, a snafu leads to a missing Celestia, and Twilight and Rainbow Dash caught (literally) red-hoofed in her royal chambers by the guards!

You run your flank off!

The Great Tragedy. The night an era ended. The night the skies stopped turning. The night the Canterlot palace, along with all of its occupants, was utterly obliterated.
Nopony knows how it was done or by whom. But they do know that one unicorn stood at the center of that calamitous explosion, and they know that Twilight Sparkle survived where two immortals had perished.
Twilight awakens in a world a shadow of its former self, abruptly thrust into the fallout of a disaster she remembers nothing of. Faced with a foe that is perhaps more familiar than she might realize, Twilight must find a way to restore her broken world and carry on the legacy of her beloved princesses.

Huge thanks to my proofreaders Some Person (chapter 1-12) and RazerWrites (chapter 12-14). The story would have been much worse off without them.

Dead.

It all happened so fast. One minute they were there, and the next she was standing in their ashes.

Lost forever.

It wasn't fair. They’d devoted their entire lives to defending Equestria, and what was their reward? To be cut down in the blink of an eye. Weren't they supposed to be the heroes? Weren't they the good guys, the chosen ones, the saviors of the land? This wasn’t the way things were supposed to go!

Alone.

Twilight wouldn't accept it. No, she couldn't accept it. How could fate be so cruel? Why did she have to be the only one left alive? Why did she have to suffer on with such a terrible burden, reliving that terrible moment again and again for all eternity? No, regardless of what anyone said or did, she knew that a terrible mistake had been made, and she would see it fixed...

...no matter what the cost.

MLP/Shadow of the Colossus crossover.

[Featured on EQD 21/4/2014] [Now on TVTropes]

When Luna gifts Twilight the town of Ponyville and its surrounding countryside as her demesne she's initially confused. Then, after double checking her dictionary, more than a little concerned.

All her friends are, legally, her possessions. The town that took her in is her plaything, if she so wishes. She has been given responsibility.

Can Twilight's vision for a modern renaissance outrun the harsh realities of the shadowy figures pulling strings behind the scenes, nobles jockeying for her attention, and an irritatingly metaphorical love triangle?

Special thanks to the insatiable Blue_Paladin42, the incorrigible Maskedferret, the intuitive Southpaw and the indestructible newbiedoodle for all their hard work, past, present and future.

It's over. She's been with Celestia for years. She's absolved Luna of her crimes. She's been instrumental in defeating Sombra, and has revealed a Changeling invasion. She's even helped in reforming Discord. And now, her time is over. In the time that she's had, she's tried to do her best. She's tried so hard to live up to what other ponies expect of her.

And they were happy with how she was shaping up.

They wanted her to succeed.

Now all they want is to see her dead.
