This story is a sequel to Fallout: Equestia – Unscrewed Audio Files

By now you have likely heard my sister’s tragic story. Mr. DJ Pon-3 elected to call it "Unscrewed Audio Files". I am the Shoeshine from those logs, though as a Canterlot Ghoul I prefer Brittleshine. Pinkie Pie predicted I would meet my sister again, I have hope that it will come true. I have invited Screwy's fiancé, Dr. Stable Rate...who also became a ghoul...and my good friend, and a Hellhound named Grrrar along for the search. We are also joined by a lecherous, Moonskull, Sargent named Dancing Doll. We will document our adventure like Screwloose did, in a series of audio logs that I will send to DJ Pon3 to play over the radio. We will find my sister.

This fic is canon with the events of Unscrewed and reading that fic is nessisary to get the context of this one, but can still be enjoyed if the first fic is not read.

This story is also canon toGamma Deekay’s andDigital Ink (AKA Sawyer)’s series of connected fics, but only in that it shares the same shared universe.

Also it does reference EAST Corp Productions' various audio dramas, but without their permission so anything I do in the fic is not canon with their works.

The fics that are the sequels are out: Hold the Pineapple and Find Your Spark

The Equestrian Deep South is a wondrous place, filled with teeming natural wildlife (CHUPACABRA GOT MY SISTER LAST WEEK THE BASTARD), beautiful sunsets (CLOUDS CLOUDS AND MORE CLOUDS), and the kindest, most caring (WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE JUST GIVE ME BACK MY DAMN CANTEEN) folk you'll ever meet. Visit our lush lakes (DRIED OUT) and arid plateaus (ACTUALLY THAT'S ACCURATE) with your family for the visit of the lifetime!

The South is Paradise. (BURNING COUNTRY) And it's the greatest place you'll ever live.

-Official Ministry of Morale Tourism Billboard. Vandalisms included.

It has been nearly two hundred years since the megaspells rained fire down on the world, reducing it to a tainted wasteland. The ponies of Equestria get on by, but only just.

A lucky few survived in great underground shelters, the stables. Among these is the lost, and almost mythical, Stable 84. It was said that the stable in question was home to not ponies, but creatures who could change their faces with but a thought.

But that was just a myth, there was no way that the Equestrian Hive was real. Right?

(Be warned, spoilers for Fallout Equestria, Project Horizons and Pink Eyes may occur.)

War. War changes ponies.

It has a way of shifting priorities and perspectives. None who survive it emerge unscathed. Especially those who weren't supposed to have survived it at all.

An unscheduled detour to uncover a secret was all that saved Starlight Glimmer from dying in the fiery culmination of The Great War, along with everypony else not fortunate enough to have reserved a spot in one of Equestria's many Stables. But she did survive, and found herself in a world she didn't recognize. A world consumed with hate, violence, and death; even when no longer faced with an external zebra threat. A world she couldn't understand.

So now she seeks the only understanding that she cares about any longer: learning the fate of those she loved. Far to the north, she seeks answers to what became of the Crystal Empire, and the husband she left behind.

While it is not necessary for this story, I don't think, I do encourage reading Legacies if you want to find out how Starlight came to find herself a couple hundred years in her future.

'Prepper', is an alicorn who once saw a glimpse into the future. With a vision of disaster, her destiny changed. No longer believing that no harm could ever come to the world she knows, she began to prepare for an uncertain future.
Now a wandering caravan finds themselves welcomed, invited to come join her in her shop, 'Prepper's Place', as she tells the story of how things came to be the way they are now.

This is an 'episodic' style story that follows the dream one alicorn has of bringing love to the wasteland in her own little way. Revel as she recounts her tales, and buy her bargains at brazenly discounted prices.

Cover art was done by the magnificient Grypher, who can be found on Derpibooru. (No link this time, you might see why if you check!)
---
Authors note: I had planned to keep this hidden until completion (it isn't going to be a long story, I swear!) but the fact that Grypher finished the cover art and plans to release it prompted a change of pace. Current events in the world (a certain virus) have slowed down my writing efforts, but I promise, this WILL be complete before long!

Also of note: although this is set in the same canon as Broken Bonds, the two stories will never meet, so knowledge of one will not affect the other.

The Badlands, an area known for its unwelcoming and hostile environment, sits below Equestria. Although its environment is unfavorable for most ponies, here lies a refugee settlement aged by time. Chipbowl, once known as a refugee camp during and after the Great War, had been vibrant with instrumental potential. Years after the Gardens of Equestria, Chipbowl has transformed itself into a small-vibrant village for families of all species. As the environment isn’t and ideal area for the locals of Chipbowl to entertain themselves with, the residents had introduced themselves to the world of music. Genres such as bluegrass, blues, and jazz had gained popularity within the settlement; thanks to a popular duo named “Freebird”. The duo composed of Birdie, an earth pony, and Bassline, a gryphon. The duo had gained popularity in Chipbowl with their upbeat-blues-like style of music. However, as the years had passed, the duo fell into a rut.

The duo spent their whole lives revolving around the same ponies every day. Each performance the duo played; the same audience attended. The local bands and rivals the duo faced; unchanged. Every morning and night, the duo heard the same greeting; “good morning” and “goodnight”. The feeling of repetition had grown onto the duo. Their inspiration for writing and playing music slowly dwindled. However, hearing the stories of elders who had fled from Equestria to Chipbowl, had inspired them once again. There was a world outside of Chipbowl; an even bigger one that wasn’t surrounded by jagged rocks. Knowing very little about Equestria and what it may hold, the duo packed their instruments and traveled into the unknown. Living the life of experiencing no violence, conflict, or knowledge outside of Chipbowl had been a culture shock for the duo. With the dread of going back home, the duo has no choice but to face the wasteland.

Mr. Horse's pet courier has been murdered and his property stolen. And while the price on the killers' heads is good enough to get any bounty hunter's attention, it's the bonus for returning a silly little poker chip that draws Dead-Shot in.

A pony could retire on that kind of jackpot...

Edit: this is just a One off. Also Derpy's my current player character in a Modded run im doing of Fallout New Vegas currently.

Derpys past was a mystery to some. There were a few that thought she was a Ghoul from the prewar era. Others simply didnt want to cross her as she had been called a Spirit of Vengeance. She was a package delivery mare, but that didnt mean she didnt know how to handle herself when the time was right. She was the one mare that you never wanted to cross when she was determined.

You can just call her Courier Six.

Life in the Stable is about to change...

Inspired by Fallout: Equestria by Kkat, and Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons by Somber. Author suggests having read Fallout: Equestria before venturing into this tale.

Update 11/04/2012: To prevent confusion, an explanation about how the chapters are named/numbered. I essentially have the story split into several acts--each act will have a named chapter that precedes the number chapters and are a somewhat separate tale, but will eventually tie into the main story. If I ever manage to finish this (or you figure it out way, WAY before then), then it will hopefully make sense.
