It's been one hundred years since all of Spike's friends passed away. All he has now is Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and sometimes Discord.

Feeling lonely one night, Spike remembers befriending the dragon princess, Ember, and decides to finally visit her after all these years.

They have a lot to catch up on.

This story is a sequel to The Dragon Lord's Consort

Spike awakens nearly a year later. But much has happened in his sleep and absence. A threat is building in Equestria and it may tear at the relationships between Dragon and Pony. Spike's future is undetermined, with a role he has yet to accept and a struggle over his destiny, between the family he grew up with or the family he needed. With time, he may not be the same as he was before and what the changes that have manifested with him, may hold.

This is the story of my second childhood, and how I found the strength to keep moving forward.

If she had been a good little filly, she would have listened to her mommy and daddy and her teacher and the esteemed mayor of Ponyville. If She had been a good little filly she would have stayed indoors, hiding under her bed as she waited for the Royal Guard and the Princesses to arrive and deal with the dragon. If she had been a good little filly, the kind of child that always got what she wanted for Hearth's Warming, she would not be on the trail leading up the mountain, to where the dragon now rested.

Glitter Belle is not a good little filly. She is a curious one, whose curiosity has brought her face to face with a very, very large dragon. Let's hope it's in the mood to talk.

Ponies like snuggles. Spike likes to give snuggles. But Spike is a five-hundred-foot tall dragon, and finds it difficult to give snuggles without accidentally popping the pony like an overripe tomato in a hydraulic press. Spike believes he has found a solution.

Part of the Hellpiercer 'verse, but knowledge of that story is not required.

During Parent Teacher Confercence Day, Discord shows up and adds a little fun to the day by giving Spike and Smolder poison joke.

As the years drew on, Spike's childish heart grew into that of a true adult, longing for the finer things in life; the finest things. He pursues his relationship with Rarity, but all does not go as planned.

Filled with anger and sorrow, Spike and Rarity fall away from one another. In his grief, Spike pursues new interests, and their friendship is in danger of never recovering.

But perhaps the truest words in life are these: you do not know what you had until you have lost it. Jealous and alone, finding no comfort in stallions she once loved, can Rarity reclaim her one chance at true love, before it is too late?

Spike has been living alone in his cave for some time now, but he enjoys weekly visits from Rarity. However, this visit will not go as well on the others, because she has the scent of another pony on her coat.

It's Hearth's Warming in Equestria, and Smoulder is looking forward to returning home to the Dragonlands for the Feast of Fire. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond her control delay her departure, which annoys her greatly as all her other friends have left.

Hey, at least there's another dragon in Ponyville with whom she can hang out.
