Based on a story idea someone suggested

Queen Novo banishes Twilight and her friends to the deepest reaches of the ocean. In this dark and desolate place of water and silence, giving in to one's animal instincts seems like the obvious course of action.

Thus Spike awakens, trapped and alone in an unfamiliar place. But as he quickly learns, it's a lot worse than that.

The following is based off the studies of Princess Twilight Sparkle, everything disclosed in this is not be revealed to the public until a higher understanding of this has been reached.

The magic of dreams have fascinated Twilight for a while now. So she decides to do what she always does. Study it. But maybe she shouldn't have messed with this one.

Sometimes writing a letter is considered the "easier" way to communicate, but despite all its comparative "ease" it can also be one of the hardest things you ever do.

There are a few things to forewarn you of. This story deals with anti-homosexuality in a political/religious setting that closely parallels some of contemporary society. If you don't enjoy stories that mix ponies with politics, are ethically targeted or introduce elements that wouldn't fit in show-like Equestria, then this probably isn't the story for you.

Twilight Sparkle calls upon a genie. The process is mired in rules, but she won't let that stop her. With the genie's power, she could change the world. She has until moon-rise to make her wish.

Rules provide structure and order. Rules offer reliability and build society. Rules are boundaries that we live within, but rules can be broken. Sometimes, we have to break the rules to do what is right.

But some rules can't be broken.

Sometimes, rules are shackles.
