Eric Reed tried to recreate his mother's lasagna, his favorite meal prior to his "permanent visit" to Equestria. While his latest batch was adequate on its own, it wasn't good enough for him. He yearned for lasagna just like what his beloved mother used to bake.

But when Eric was close to writing his attempts off as a fool's errand, Pinkie Pie informed her human friend of a special spice. She claimed it could improve any meal, and if Eric acquired the spice, it just might allow him to bake lasagna close enough to his mother's version to satisfy him. However, no store sold the spice. The incredibly rare fruit it was made from only existed in the wild.

Desperate for even a chance of eating something close to his mother's lasagna, Eric traveled to a vast jungle, where the fruit was said to grow, with Pinkie as his guide. He was a little concerned that a full day alone with Pinkie and her unmatched energetic personality could test his sanity.

But Eric might end up learning something that "Energy Incarnate" had on her mind for months but hid from him.

Realizing she hadn't tried to serve dinner once post-reformation, Starlight Glimmer decided to end her unintentional "streak" and made dinner for Princess Twilight, Spike, Eric Reed, and a visiting Sunset Shimmer. Being the big-hearted pony she is, Starlight was proud to do something for her friends, and her huge grin proved it.

It was just too bad her dinner, which she dubbed "Glimmer Surprise", looked and smelled horrendous.

Eric would normally be happy to help, but the cookies' smell made him – and his stomach – want to take an indefinite rain check.

Unfortunately for Eric, with Twilight being Twilight and having her pseudo-scientist hat on, declining to eat up would be ineffective for curing his sudden "Persistent Alicorn Syndrome."

But fortunately for him, five words would turn the situation on its head.

Doing a get-together on Hearth's Warming Eve with the Mane 6, Spike, Starlight Glimmer, and Sunset Shimmer, Eric Reed made an offhand comment about Santa Claus. It brought to his attention that Twilight, Starlight, Spike, and Sunset (and possibly Pinkie Pie) are the only Equestrians who knew who Santa is.

So, Eric told the rest of the Mane 6 about the legend of Santa Claus. But little did he know as he told his story that it gave a couple of ponies ideas...

Today is the 19th birthday of Eric Reed, Equestria's only human, and it is his first birthday in Equestria. Pinkie Pie planned a party for him to celebrate.

Also, the two ponies that are the closest to him, Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer, forgot all about his special day and panicked. With Spike's help and with hours before the party, will the two desperate mares find the "perfect" gift in time?

Eric Reed has been stuck in Equestria for months, but he had always found it too weird to look at ponies in a romantic way, so he accepted he'd never have a romantic relationship.

Until now. He finally develops a crush on a mare and wants to ask her out...except he has one little problem: he's awful at asking out anyone/anypony he really likes! But with help from his friends and their varying advice (Even she will try to help!) he tries to ask out his pony crush.

When Eric Reed claimed that he had learned how to predict the future, Twilight Sparkle was understandably skeptical about it.

However, Twilight quickly found herself aghast when Eric successfully pulled off his boasts. Eric is just a regular human, so it shouldn't be possible for him to do this kind of stuff...right?

Will Twilight figure out how Eric learned to do something that not even she, an alicorn, can do?

This story happens three days after "Alicorns and Beards". But, it's not needed to read "Alicorns and Beards" first to understand this story (and laugh) though it would hint at one of the reasons why Eric chose to perform his tricks to Twilight, besides that she's Twilight.

This story is a sequel to When Dating Advice Doesn't Work...

After being rejected by a mare he formed a crush on two weeks ago, Eric Reed starts to develop feelings for another mare, Sunset Shimmer. But fear of being rejected again, because of his "real-life" appearance, makes Eric hesitant to put himself out there to try to ask Sunset out.

Will he conquer his fear and ask Sunset to go on a date? If he does, how will Sunset, who's oblivious to her friend's changing feelings toward her, react?

And if she indeed says "yes" what's next for the two?

This story (obviously) has continuity from the story "When Dating Advice Doesn't Work..." story. However, enough will be explained to not require reading it to understand this story.

Both stories also take place after the events of my "A Giant Adventure to Equestria" story. When Princess Twilight Sparkle asks Eric Reed if he'll like to go with her to the Crystal Empire to visit Princess Cadance, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart, he accepts her offer. But once they, along with Pinkie Pie and Starlight Glimmer, arrive, Eric suddenly starts acting odd, later becomes ill, and Cadance allows him to rest in the Crystal Castle at Twilight's request.

It turns out, there was more to that illness than it looked, and after a nap, he finds himself to be about the size of a flea! And worse, he's too small to be heard! Will he find a way to get somepony to see or hear him? It only gets tougher -- and less fun -- when he accidentally gets thrown onto a certain Princess's back, without her knowing she did it...

And how did Eric shrink so small? He can blame a buck up from one of his two Equestrian "big sisters" for this...
