After the events of Hard Reset Twilight's life and mental well being are slowly returning to normal. Her recovery is cut short, though, when a letter arrives informing her that the time loop spell she cast is causing severe damage to space and time itself. In over her head, Twilight tries to summon anypony who will know how to fix it. The pony she gets is the last one she ever thought she would meet... and nothing like she expected him to be.

There's a crime wave gripping the sleepy town of Apple-Morepone, and nopony on the City Watch seems to care. Corporal "Rainbow" M. Dash naps through her patrols, her partner Dobby is an infamous kleptomaniac, Captain Rhymes is a drunkard, and the entire Watch is a group of burnt-out misfits.

Unfortunately, she gets lost after a brief distraction and can't find her way back. The more she panics, the scarier and more twisted the trees started to become, and the more Sweetie starts to see things coming from the bark that disappear when she looks at them directly.

Pinkie Pie gains the ability to see dreams, and when the Cake twins start having bad dreams at night, waking up crying and sobbing, she takes the matter into her own hooves to keep them safe from the nightmares that plague them.
When she finds out that she can do this because of a dream parasite that's latched onto her, Pinkie needs help, and contacts the Princess of Dreams. Somepony cursed her with this parasite, but she has to stop it before she can get to the culprit, and stopping it reveals Pinkie has in her more than she thought.

My name is Scootaloo. I am an orphan. That's a little bit uncommon but not unusual, right? Well, in my case my mother isn't quite dead yet.

The toughest part is her walking by me and not recognising me as her child.
