What is friendship?

Is it a term or something so much more?

And can you be a friend to something so different but so similar to you?

Something that I'm sure has been done to death but, since reading East of Eden, I wanted to do something a little more thought provoking. I got the idea while I was alone in my house, with just the sound of a clock ticking to keep me company.

I awaken in the magical land of Equestria to find myself face to face with Nightmare Moon, weakened, but not gone. She says that she is slowly gaining power, and nothing can stop her once she has returned completely. Nothing but a human, the worst thing to ever happen to Equestria.

This is an older story with many flaws, but a semi-coherent plot. I won't be getting back to it anytime soon, .

Kai was blind for as long as he can remember, but he had a sight he called magic sight that allowed him to see energy and magic outlining people and creatures. When he finds his old master after many years searching for him he was trapped and sent to a world he has never heard of before. As his journey goes on he discovers news things about himself. Will he also discover his forgotten past in the end?

The land of Equestria. Truly a marvel, it was. But now, during the age of revolution, Equestria has changed. Dark smoke covers the sky of the factories. Colts and fillies work in the monstrous building, while their parents work twice as hard. Only the rich and influential must not risk their lives everyday to survive.

But it will all change.

Somepony...no...someone, pony or other species, has a plan. A way to change the world as one knows it. But they are not just willing to give it to anyone. No, only one can have the prize they are seeking...or will be seeking. For the players of this deadly game do not even know they are a pawn. Until now.

Book I
Meet Dusk Noir, a unicorn stallion from Canterlot. He attends Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, has a liking to learning and reading and has a unique magical talent. He seems like he would be happy, but there's just one problem: he doesn't have any friends. It's not that he doesn't want them, but he just feels that he wouldn't be worth the time of anypony. He sees himself as unremarkable, a waste of space and not much to bother with. There's only one pony he'd even consider being good enough as a friend for and he doesn't even know how to say the first word to her. It seems like he will always be alone.
Until one night, when he discovered by the Princess of the Sun and is sent to Ponyville to meet her at last. Can he achieve the goal of earning her friendship and much more besides or will he be simply left alone?
This is a story that I began as a sort of creativity outlet when I discovered how much of a fan I was of the series. From there, it just kind of grew and I enjoyed continuing it. Doubtless, you probably know what it's going to be about before you even read it and would even be tempted to point it out. I won't try and change what you think, all I ask is that you give it a chance.
There are two more stories following this, both of which along with the fuller version of this one, can be found on my fanfiction account. Just search my username and you'll find them, if you really want to read more that is. I'll try posting on as regular a basis as I can. That is, if it's received well.
This first one isn't my best, I'll admit that much, but I certainly did try my best with this one and what I had planned for it. I hope you enjoy it.

One morning, you find yourself with a horrible headache. As you look over to the woman next to you, expecting it to be someone you've never met before, as was what you're used to, you realize that this is someone you'd never expect. Who do you find?
2nd person humanized. There'll be no love triangles, cheating, or anything like that. That stuff is unnecessary and uncomfortable. Just a simple relationship that happened to have started in an... odd way. Picture by the very talented John Joseco.

A winged self-exile from the northern mountains
A lighthearted paladin-to-be hiding a dark past behind her smile
A healer that heals all, caring not for good or evil

Kuno, a young changeling, is left weak, bloodied, and bruised after the events of the Canterlot wedding. She is soon discovered by Warden, a Royal Guard. But for some reason, Warden shows her mercy. Instead of taking her into the custody of the Royal Guard, he becomes both her captor and her savior. But over time, Kuno will come to ask herself the hardest question she has ever pondered: Can a changeling feel love?

Riku was a young boy with the curse of the beast. He had no control of the beast within him and was a test subject of a secret group. They performed tests on him until he couldn't move each day, but as the days past Riku got stronger. Soon he was taken to the same test chamber only to have a sample of his blood extracted and was taken to the portal room. When the portal was open Riku ran towards it only turning back to throw a metal plate at the portal control panel forcing it to shut down and collapse the moment he went through it.
