Sunset Shimmer has been harboring a crush on Twilight Sparkle for a long time, one she knew could never go anywhere. This became doubly frustrating after the appearance of Twilight Sparkle. But what if she has a real shot this time? There's only one way to find out, by talking to Twilight Sparkle.

Sunset Shimmer is feeling especially bad about herself after a rough day in detention, and just when it seems like things can't get any worse, Fluttershy discovers her at her lowest and learns something about her that she'd been trying to keep secret from her friends. The worst part though? She's being so nice about it. It's far more than she feels she deserves.
Fortunately, Fluttershy's not about to let her turn down the help she needs.

Set between the first Equestria Girls movie and Rainbow Rocks. Part of a series of fics I've been working on about Sunset's early days learning how friendship works, which starts with my previous story Asking a Favor. Can absolutely be read as a standalone though.

This one deals with some slightly heavy subject matter. Nothing to warrant a rating higher than E though.

Twilight thought that her new studies at CHS would be easy compared to more rigorous things like science and mathematics. Instead, she keeps coming up short. Her mind unsettled. Unable to accept simple things. Before she gives up entirely, Sunset steps in and offers Twilight the understanding she's been looking for.

Sunset Shimmer has been distant lately, spending time with Starlight Glimmer. Twilight doesn't know how to feel, except jealous. When she gets a call from Sunset asking her to come over, she doesn't know how to feel, except hopeful.

What she discovers is something altogether unexpected.
