Twilight takes a break at a secret paradise, located far from anything of the outside world. But not even two days into her almost-week of relaxation, an old adversary unexpectedly shows up.
Only this time, Equestria wasn't considerate enough to change Sunset Shimmer back into a unicorn, or give her clothing...
A few hours after saving the Friendship Games, Sunset Shimmer and her good friend Twilight Sparkle are relaxing on the CHS lawn. The two are so close that Sunset finally feels like she can ask a question that's been on her mind for a while.
"Can I go home?"
Being the Princess of Equestria is busy work. Luna would know. She raises the sun and moon everyday, looks over the dreams of her beloved subjects, and, well, runs Equestria. Now, in addition to all that, she must find herself a protégé, before her sister's banishment ends!
But, that isn't the problem. The problem, is that three particular fillies stand out for the role!
Who will she choose? Can these three fillies become friends? Who will become Equestria's future savior!?

After the events of Rainbow Rocks, Sunset Shimmer sits on a park bench, wallowing about her homesickness and how she is afraid to return to Equestria and confront her past. However, her self-pity is soon disrupted as Trixie comes along, wishing to learn real magic. In the process, the two make up over their confrontation during the Battle of the Bands.

Sunset has a crush on Twilight. The problem is, she seems to have a type: people who are incredibly powerful, have some measure of authority and power in their positions, and still have very sweet personalities.
And Twilight is far more powerful and popular than Flash ever was.
But it's okay. It's not like Twilight likes her back, right? Right.
