This story is a sequel to Tangled Roots

After Babs Seed moves in with her cousins and grandmother at Sweet Apple Acres, seven years and twenty-eight seasons of lessons about friendship, love, and the true meaning of family shape her into the mare she ultimately becomes.

What became of Babs Seed's mother and sister? Will the bobtailed foal ever see the ones she left behind again? How will the other Ponyville Cutie Mark Crusaders react to their fourth member earning her cutiemark before the rest? Is family what we are born into, or is it what we choose to create? And, ultimately, can a city-pony truly adapt to country life?

This is the second installment in the Tangled Roots timeline. "Sweet Apple Anthology" is a collection of sequential side-stories spanning across seven years after the end of the first story's final chapter and continuing to its Epilogue.

The story continues in the third installment, Severed Roots.

A big thanks to Lulubell for the awesome cover image.

Woohoo, finally! Definitely looking forward to read this one later today.

Yes! yes yes! Yes! Now to read!

Wow, I thought your first story was amazing. one hundred thousand words definitely made you much better than you already were. I am jealous.

You will be the next Kkat, minus the Fo:E part.

What a very interesting concept. This should be quite in-depth and intriguing. Good luck to you!

Oh I picked a good time to check my inbox.

All I can say for now.... can't wait to see where this ride will take us all. -raises the cider mug :ajsmug:

The sun beated brightly on this dark day.
In the desert two ponies made their way.
To escape evils in their home.
To damnation they will roam.
In a place where a demon's parents died,
Is where these two refugees lie.
In the desert, beneath the sun, a scorching knife,
These two mares begin a new life.

That was pretty much my reaction, too.

This is a great story, I love it :pinkiehappy:

Shaking his muzzle, the stallion said, “Bits don’t mean nothin’ ta me, Auntie, Citrus. Love is all we need.”

Oh noes! Braeburn is a changeling. I´m onto you, you love-sucking freak! But seriously, I'm glad the sequel has started. And now I know why Babs and Bloom were in Appleloosa at the end of Tangled Roots. Next chapter in Ponyville?

Yay! A sequel! Great job with the first chapter :pinkiehappy:

Lol. Look at the picture. So many secret messages, like MC Hammer might have been here, will work for more dialogue, nuclear apples, and even a long complaint on a certain filly. :trollestia:

Will the author finally stop using rhetorical questions in his synopsis? All this and more, on 60 Minutes.

Well... I think you may have gone a bit overboard with all the "youze" in there, but it's fine otherwise.

Oh HELL YEAH! This is looking good so far. Faving and eagerly awaiting the next chapter!

Am I late to the party or has it only just begun? :moustache:

I'm soory; this is what the cover reminds me of

1979128 1979129 1979147 1979177 1979256 1979287 1979342 1979665 1980053 1980170 1981530 1981669

Thanks everypony! :pinkiehappy: This one won't be updated every day like "Tangled Roots" was, but expect a chapter every few days. I hope not to disappoint, thanks again for the support. You all rock. :ajsmug:

Liam, thank you so much for being my pre-reader and editor. You're awesome, man.

:rainbowdetermined2: And here we are, folks, The Philosopher starting off with an awesome little poem. Thank you my friend! :scootangel: :moustache:

Braeburn as a Changeling? :rainbowhuh: No wonder everyone loves him so much! :rainbowlaugh: Actually, Babs and Bloom ended up even farther than Appaloosa, but they definitely had to pass that way, first. Next chapter will be in Ponyville.

I dig it! :raritystarry:

I love that pic. So much going on there! :rainbowlaugh: As for the "youze," that's the Manehatten accent I wrote for this universe (not sure if you read the story this is a sequel to) but we'll just have to see if Citrus and Libra keep using it...or Babs. :raritywink:

News updates at eleven! :pinkiecrazy:

The party has just started, my friend. :moustache:

Yup, you got it! That's exactly what it parodies! :yay:

Your welcome, and I am following you as well.

1981967 Thank you:twilightsmile:. By the way already this story is living up to Tangled Roots! Did I ever tell you how much I love the imagery you implement into your story? It's amazing!

I can't wait to read the next chapter!

I'm so happy that no picture could express it. :pinkiehappy:

This is so heartwarming. Makes me wanna :fluttercry:

However, you've spelled Appleloosa as Appaloosa. Whilst the town is based on the horse breed, like all other cities (besides Dodge City), it's name is a pun and is therefore Appleloosa as seen on the currently used map right here:

1981967 Yay! You like my picture! I can die happily! :rainbowkiss:

Thanks for the correction! I will go ahead and fix the spelling in here when I get a chance. :pinkiehappy: I was thinking it was spelled like the horse breed, but considering their crop, "Apple-loosa" makes much more sense. :rainbowlaugh: Glad you enjoyed the first chapter, my friend. :pinkiesad2:

Sir, you keep on keepin' on. Keep being your awesome, wayword-writer self. That was beautiful. :raritystarry: :yay:

Whoa! Living up already? Damn, thanks! :pinkiehappy: Hope the next chapter doesn't disappoint!

:scootangel: :yay: :moustache:

Not just one sequel, my friend. There will be a third (and final) story after this one.

:rainbowkiss: You did an amazing job on it!

Very true! :pinkiecrazy::rainbowdetermined2:

Hehe, thanks! :twilightblush: And yeah, no offense to anyone meant here either!

...Hope not to disappoint? :applejackconfused:
Do you know how much I wish other great authors could write chapters this great so quickly?! Give yourself more credit :ajsmug: However, most other great authors will have chapters of lengths way longer than the amount here (like Pen Stroke, Art Inspired, and a few others).

Besides, when it comes to stories, I believe in quality before quantity (so long as there's not a wait lasting half a year)

Good to be of help with the whole Appleloosa/Appaloosa thing.
Sorry for not seeing the notification until now. It's been almost 19 hours! :facehoof:

:twilightblush: Thank you, Seagull. I agree, quality before quantity...though, yes, half a year is too much of a wait for my patience, lol. :applejackunsure: And don't worry about it! Thanks for reading, commenting, and generally being awesome.

Haven't read this yet. But Tangled Roots has made its way into my top 5 favorite fanfics.

if this is what the rest of this story is going to be like this promises to not only be as good as your last story but even better
i give you all my mustaches:moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache:

the feels! I've been in somewhat relivent senario and had to move back to my roots and it was a big scear at first but it felt safe.

Yeah, I'm not sure Tanlged Roots needed a sequel. I was quite happy with the ending as it is.

Ahem. First allow me to say I am sorry it took me so long to get here so lets get into the nitty gritty.
A long awaited return to bed
finding where ones lifesprings head
lies in wait for the roots once pulled out
set back into sand like those devout.
One a chance to live in peace
the other a return to sweet release.
Clockwork turns the time by hour
washed away like dirt in a shower.
Cleansed be the Manehattan mares
to a new town yet draw no stares.
Lives far away from the bottle
left to the Fop to hold and throttle.
Fallen from their great stone height
yet one stands to save them in their plight
welcomed home under boughs of an apple tree
shading them in the sunlight dappled it be.
Gentle be the hooves that guide
one to fall with tears uncried.

It needs more but I digress
More chapters needed for me to finish the rest.

My god, this was beautifully written.

Nice! I didn't even SEE this. Cool setting it in Appleloosa, too. (Psst, it's tabula rasa, with a U.)

Oh, them Manehattan accents. Tough to do, but you gotta do 'em: it truly feels and looks wrong if you don't, and you really have to do them your own way, from scratch. I think this is fine, and WAY more light-handed than mine.

Is this in the Babs Seed group yet?

Thanks everyone! :ajsmug: :pinkiehappy: Gmetcol, I'm glad to hear that you were able to feel safe once you moved back. :raritystarry:

CloudTwister, how glad I am to have you back, dotting the comments section with your awesome poetry. :moustache: Good to see you, friend!

I wasn't planning on it having a sequel when I began...but I have to admit, inspiration hit and I decided to write more of this universe. However, "Tangled Roots" stands on its own as well, so if you decide to leave the ending as it is, I understand! :raritywink:

You're welcome!

Thanks! There will be chapters about Ponyville and Manehatten as well. And thanks, I'll go ahead and make that edit. :twilightblush: The Manehatten accent in here is the same as the first story's (Tangled Roots, this is the first sequel), and believe me, it's fun to write! Glad you like it!

I don't think it's been added to the group yet... I might have to fix that.

Madame as if you could keep me away
One cannot be rid of me I am here to stay.
This is nothing compared to some of those
that I admire for their poetic prose
Im just a simple wordsmith
who believes you deserve more to go with
than just a single like and simple comment
I just want to see you continue on it.
This story deserves nothing but the best
so Honey dearest prepare for the Test

I've only just realised now that this is a sequel to another story...and somehow I've been able to follow it perfectly.

Welp, time to read the original.

DAMNIT! I aint finished the first story yet! Best get my ass in gear and finish reading that one lol
