Rainbow Dash has managed to get herself into yet more trouble: following a crash that killed stunned the Gift Givers of the Grove, she is being forced to take up the mantle of the Spirit of Hearth's Warming.
Trapped in the hell of delivering gifts for the rest of eternity against her will, she has only one solution: taking the Grand Council of Holidays to court to dispute the Rule of the Clause and free her.
Unfortunately, she doesn't actually know any lawyers.
Also unfortunately, her best bet for a substitute is Starlight Glimmer.

A Breezie story for TheDriderPony as part of Jinglemas 2023!

Beautiful and hilarious. The comment about Twilight's doe-eyes with the expression of Maud Pie was *perfect.*
Excellently done.
I CALL THE SUN TO THE STAND!
Now I wonder about the alternate Equestria, where instead of dabbling in dubious sorceries and cult leadership, Glim-Glam had just gone to law school...
Everything about this is perfect, but one things stands out here and itʼs this:
I freakinʼ love the Treeʼs undying fidelity to its Bearers. The way it just casually threatened the Spirits because they dared harm one of the Elements is both parts awesome and heartwarming. Need an entire fic dedicated to the Tree standing up for its Bearers.
Absolutely fantastic! It's everything I hoped to see; could not have asked for better!
(Shame about what happened to the original intended author, but the Breezie pinch hitter comes up to plate and pulls out a home run!)
Thanks so much for writing (and sorry if the prompt was overly specific).

Are you kidding? You basically handed me gold. It made this a breeze!
Very happy it lived up to your hopes. Happy holidays!
Damn, that tree was ready to throw hands. Celestial Courts and bureaucracy are always fun, even if, in this case, the problem was solved with less paperwork and more threats of violence from a local universal constant.
Oh wow, that ending.
Will there be a sequel? Even if shorter, I kinda wanna see both Harmony AND Discord be... displeased with the court, to put it mildly.
Fun! (The Santa Clause movies are kinda existentially horrifying, aren't they?)
Given the rather alarming implications of this:
Her *mouth may be issuing checks her magic isn't up to cashing, but I'm sure the Elements will appreciate the sentiment.
No, Fluttershy didn't accidentally kill the Spring Spree Rabbit: rather, the Rabbit tricked her into taking his place (she's a lot easier a mark than Bugs Bunny)

Throwing hands: an impressive feat indeed, for an entity that lacks both hands and the ability to throw them.

It already changed its apparent species? once. Getting some throwable hands to deal with a few festive spirits seems entirely in the realm of the reasonable.
I got to this line and I am already so hooked I'm writing this part of the comment before proceeding further. Bahahahahaha! Okay, back to reading...
POST ENDING COMMENTS:
Baaaaahahahahahaha poor Fluttershy I thoroughly loved this
Now I need to see this movie, lmao.
Dash may owe her, but i think Starlight should consider that Dash just allowed her to tell the Universe that its rules did not stand up to her.
Oh, this is fantastic. And look at all the emotions the Tree is learning to express! Very glad I got around to this lovely little court dramedy. Thank you for it, and a belated Merry Jinglemas.
