Impossible Numbers

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying, And this same flower that smiles today, Tomorrow will be dying."

T

Werewolves. Vampires. Earth people, a.k.a. humans. In a world where they've learned to cooperate, it's a bad idea to let your inner wolf off the leash. People tend to look up to you as a role model (when they're not looking at other role models who are way more awesome because they don't even need supernatural stuff).

Sour Sweet doesn't care about that. She just wants to snark at her girlfriend and pet monstrous abominations. But when the balance of power rests inside her own head, it's no longer resting on stable ground...

"Sour Sweet/Strength".

Why is “Strength” the only word in the synopsis that’s green?

As per the original Imposing Sovereigns announcement. All the virtues listed there were given distinct colours. Strength's was green, so I followed tradition.

This story does a LOT of interesting things with AU worldbuilding, and character relationships and conflicts that grow out of that! It's good reading at any time of year, even though I imagine you might have kind of wanted to release it by or on Halloween.

Now THAT was great!!!!

:pinkiehappy: Haha, talk about throwing the dog a bone! Reading comments like these is a real treat for me. Thank you both kindly!

However did you guess? :twilightsheepish:

This was originally meant for a Hallowe'en release, aye, but what with one thing and another, I ended up putting it off while I sorted out other things. Probably for the best, since it gave me time to consider a plot point or two during the editing stage.

Loved it!

Incredible work from start to finish. I always have a soft spot for the Shadowbolts, criminally underdeveloped as they are, and you did outstanding work with them and this AU as a whole. Great work in both establishing the setting and seamlessly shifting into putting it in peril, all while capturing Sour Sweet’s terrible internal struggle. Thank you for a gripping read, and best of luck in the judging.

Same here: for such a cool concept, the Shadowbolts deserved better. Also, worldbuilding and internal struggles are, like, two of my favourite things ever. :rainbowlaugh:

Thank you for a gripping read, and best of luck in the judging.

Thank you in turn! :raritystarry:
