I'm gonna say this isn't a serious noncon fic, and that's a good thing! You're a fine writer, so I'm sure you could write a story that takes all the stuff that goes on in this fic seriously. And it would probably be a pretty good fic, objectively speaking. It just wouldn't be one I'd want to read! Unlike this one, which I liked a lot.
The non-con stuff isn't too harsh, too heavy, too real. It's just the right level for a clopfic, exciting and thrilling the readers as Shining Armor overwhelms Fresh Coat magically, physically and sexually (damn, you wrote him extra studly in this one!). The ending is both funny, and reinforces what's going on here: it's a rape fantasy written out as a fic, and it delivers.

And it pleases me you identified correctly my goal: I definitely wanted to play up the rape fantasy aspects -- statistically, the most common kink/fantasy people report on surveys -- and not be Edgy McEdgeface torture porn. I wanted noncon to amplify the hotness, not quench it.

This is the angle to well-done rape porn that I think very few people really understand unless they have the distinct fetish themselves. While of course there's some who do enjoy the Edgy McEdgeface approach and put tons of focus on torture and suffering and injury and blood and suicidal-ideation-levels of emotional distress caused by the rape, the truly good stuff that even people who shy away from noncon can still enjoy is this right here where it's simply an element that makes the sex more enjoyable. Powerplay is meant to be a complimentary component to an existing spicy act, not redefine the act completely until it's more a torture scene than a smut scene.
You nailed it, and this was quite a fun little read that pulled off exactly what it set out to do.

I'm glad this wasn't the "One day, [insert character here] was walking along, happy with their new life in Ponyville, only for the townsfolk to give them the grim lesson that being happy is bad, and that their destiny is to be raped and sad" fic that seems to only exist for outrage clicks. Here, even if Shining acts weird at points in this story... it's porn. Even if it is non-con and he rejects her lack of consent every time, the main point is that this scenario is something Fresh Coat is fine with, which is demonstrated by the both of them enjoying this.
