That was a good story.
Rather good work on the exchanges, characterizations and general wrap-up. Yeah, I could see where Velvet would want more in her life (which would lead to her being an adventure junkie), though we already know that Night Light will end up accompanying her on at least a couple of those adventures and the two will end up developing genuinely strong feelings for each other over a respectable length of time and we all already know where that is going to lead.
Anyway, pretty enjoyable one-shot.

What about Night Light? About Shining Armor? About Twilight Sparkle herself?
An outstanding first chapter... but while it's definitely left me wanting more, it hasn't really done so in a way that feels like a complete narrative. Granted, the full scope of Velvet's adventures would probably take a lot longer than 18,000 words could hold, but this left me unsatisfied. What's there is outstanding in its atmosphere and capturing both Canterlot and Celestia. It's just a shame that that's all there is.

head cannon accepted! I'd love to see her a chapter/scene or two explore the world, realize she misses expectations and duties. Then come home for a chapter/scene or two of getting to know and settling in with night light. Then a couple chapters/scenes of the pregnancy and expectations of shinning armor. The insistence on having more children til she gets a daughter. Velvets confusion over that and why it's so damn important. Then the night mare night of night mare nights and realization and destiny fulfillment washes over her
