Moosetasm

A partially insane Knoxville Brony who likes to write. I also edit. And Vector too. Who knew? Not I. If only I could focus on just one...

This story is a sequel to MLP 40K: Cold Comfort

In the Grim Darkness of the far future, an entire company of Space Mareines has been stripped of their Cutie Marks. They are willing to do anything to retrieve them. And a team of Inquisition agents must be willing to do anything to stop them.

This is the third story in the MLP 40K: Team Recaf series.

Previous story is: Cold Comfort

First story is: I Love the Smell of Friendship in the Morning

Reading the previous stories is certainly not required, but they definitely give some backstory and let you see the characters a little more fleshed-out.

Many thanks to CoffeeMinion for his editing prowess.

One does not simply nuke a Primare.
(Alternatively, Starlight lives! *stomp stomp*)

In any case, fantastic work. Great tension, excellent stingers, and fantastic characterization all around. Especially the Twins. Their antics always make for stimulating intercourse. The communism jokes got a bit heavy handed, but that was a minor issue compared to the positives.

One thing, though:

Chapter Master Stetson himself is leading things from aboard the Kicks McGee…

A male Space Mareine? What heresy is this?

himself :facehoof:

Fixed. I cannot believe I missed that.

Me and Starlight-Glimmer-being-communism-incarnate have a long history, so I felt going heavy-hoofed was the best approach.

Also, how fast do you read? It hasn’t been 30 minutes since I posted this 11k word story!!

I think I may have been the one who made Stetson a dude originally. :facehoof: Chalk it up to the incomplete psycho-indoctrination that I keep forgetting I need to get finished. :pinkiecrazy:

To me, though, the Communism stuff is a brilliant head-fake (of Moose’s devising, to be clear). The story starts out seeming like it’s going to play to the Communist Starlight trope in an obliviously unironic fashion, but then it delivers the twist that Starlight was the one who had equality forced on her by the Imperium in the first place! ...which I suppose is less of a twist now that it’s highlighted in the story description, but y’know.

On the whole, I really enjoyed working on this, and I think it’s a rollicking adventure that works better than a mostly-OC crossover has any right to. :rainbowkiss:

Okay, first the most obvious comment, MOAR! :rainbowwild:

Love what you are having the Recaff Rangers get in to. So, Starlight lives, and I don't think she's going to be too happy about things. Mind you, since when would a low yield fission blast be enough to do anything but annoy her? It bodes well for the future, at least from a reader's point of view, obviously she'll be back. I wonder how Commissar Nutmeg is going to take finding out she's alive, and has her cutie mark now? I suppose the big question is can she save the cutie marks and get them back to the other markless ponies, assuming the ponies belonging to the other marks are still around? Well, you are set up for stories as long as you can tolerate writing about these ponies. Good series so far. Thumbs up and all that! :pinkiehappy:

Fun times! Keep up the good work in your writing!
