Cackling Moron

"Fluff" in the same way what collects under the sofa is fluff.

Sequels1

T

Humans often pass through Equestria on their way to worlds unknown, maintaining cordial relations with the locals. One has chosen to live in Ponyville. Lyra worries about him when he's not there, and is happy when he comes back.

This particular human rather likes it in Ponyville. Indeed, he rather likes being away from Earth in general. Though he doesn't like to talk about it.

"The bag went thump." has the same energy of Reggie saying "The game is fun."

Though you did a good job again.

All the fluff!

Super comfy. I like the sci-fi angle, those are always fun. Good stuff, man.

And another story from you that ends up in my fav list. Always a pleasure to see a new story from you.

Now this is the sort of story I like. Very nice.

A poof of pleasant fluff wrapped around an interesting little seed. Lovely little diversion.

"being as how" should be "since"
"Lyra gently but firmly plucked it from his" is missing a word, probably "hand".

Don't we all get the best ideas when stripping wallpaper?

And, Oh man, He gets a name now.

Awesome work as always.

"Being as how" is a perfectly legit (if old-fashioned) construction, and is used correctly in this story.

That would be fine in dialogue if you wanted the speaker to appear old fashioned or from a certain region of the US, but it's very jarring in the story itself.

It's generally best to avoid informal and regional dialects in the non-dialogue parts of stories, since it will distract readers.

Thank you for the story !
It's warm and nice and all in all brilliant :)
Any chance you will write prequel/backstory?
It would be really great to get to know how they met and a bit more about this world...

1) The narrator has a sense of voice as well, my dude. How pronounced that voice is, and what that voice is, is an artistic choice.

2) Don't deliver subjective opinions on matters of style in fiction in the same matter-of-fact way as you would correct apostrophe usage.

Neither of your links remotely supports your assertion that it shouldn't be used in this case. You've got a lady who's been teaching English in the rural south since 1974 (I'd trust her for advice on an essay, I suppose), and a guy who says that it's uncommon. If you find it distracting, the fault is not in the text.

So. Damn. Fluffy.

Kinda sound like more violent versions of phantoms from Final Fantasy The Spirits Within.

I still go back to watch the scene where Hein has that space cannon. His reaction to the computer is comedy gold.

I wonder if she will get to see earth and meet his parrents. Btw - did he actually met her parrents already? :rainbowderp:
Thank you for the story once again!
It's simply great.

Compared to Equestria, Earth is kinda, well, it's a bit rougher around the edges, to put it nicely. Oh, don't get me wrong, we have lots of lovely places but we do take the prize for worst places and pretty much of all our own doing.

Huh. That last part was really weird, and now I wanna know more...

9494730
Well you CAN'T know more. Nyah.

I will be hosting a Q&A in the central library at 3:30pm on Friday. Tea and biscuits provided. Hah.

So the borer's AI is called Let's? Interesting name.
I do quite like this little world you've built here, and I'm glad you keep adding onto it.

9495198
Multiple dimensions even, you could say :trollestia:

9495114
I'm wondering if the name in question would not be out of place for a Banksian Culture ship. Possibly something like Let's Make a Deal, or Let's Take A Look, Shall We?. Or Let's Call The Whole Thing Off.

9504034
Whatever could possibly lead you to this wild and entirely unbelievable conclusion.

...it's Let's See Where This Takes Us...

Not that it really matters...

Just this big, big hollow sphere with another one inside and then another one inside that and just on and down. Held up with all these columns. Had miniature fake suns inside each level, just full of all this water and stuff someone had left in there.

Uh oh...

The bosses almost lost their minds over that one, and still some people wanted to stay there!

NEIN!

9506299
Just from the first three fuckin' letters of your username I knew you'd get it.

Want! More! Story! Raaaaargh!

Seriously, you're such a plot tease.

9507011
This doesn't even really have a plot! It's just more "Hey look here's some more background stuff"

9507062
But all the background stuff points to a larger story!

9513866
Not a game actually. Its from the Culture book series by author Iain Banks, specifically the book Matter. Basically the FULLY AUTOMATED LUXURY GAY SPACE COMMUNISM meme but taken seriously.

9515280
I'd say this answer lacks gravitas

9515451
Let's ask GSV Where's My Fucking Gravitas if he has some to spare.

Getting some serious Friend Computer vibes from that "Let's" fellow.

"Happiness is mandatory!"

9529590
The Governing Intelligences are concerned about the ongoing wellbeing of humanity.

All your stuff is almsot all fluff but its just so good. I could read this stuff for hours.

Now you're just being cruel.

9568018
If you find an ancient casket in a buried city and it says you should open it, don't.

9568015
Teasing us with these teasers, you tease.

9568067
I'm not really driving at anything, I'm just peeling back layers as more of this forms in my brainmeat.

Maybe that's what you guys are talking about...

9568092
Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!

You might as well make a proper novel of it at this point.
