The Apple Family gathers together one Autumn evening for a very special family dinner at Sweet Apple Acres, as part of a special family reunion organized by Granny Smith.
What makes it so special, you ask? Well, each Apple gets to bring one guest along to count as honorary family. All that matters is that they have a special connection to the one inviting them.
Granny Smith chooses Grand Pear, her one time business rival now trying to make up for lost time. Big Macintosh brings his mare friend, Sugar Belle, for her first Apple Family get together. Applejack invites Rara to take a break from her music career and rekindle an old friendship. And Apple Bloom (taking the advice of her fellow Crusaders) agrees to let Diamond Tiara come so that the filly can get away from her troubles for a while.
But what will these honorary family members have to say? And what will the Apples chat about around the dinner table?
This was really good.
I especially enjoyed the interactions Grand Pear had with Sugar Belle and Diamond Tiara. I can tell that DT could relate to him and he sees a bit of Pear Butter in Sugar Belle. I laughed at the part where Grand Pear asked Sugar Belle when she and Big Mac are going to get married.
Really good job on this Thanksgiving inspired one-shot. Of course, the exchanges, characterizations and general wrap-up were all well done, but I also liked the reasons neither Sweetie Belle nor Scootaloo could be Apple Bloom's guests and why Applejack couldn't choose one of her Ponyville friends. The references to the tie-in novels were really good too.

9306394 Well she technically became half Pear upon marriage to Bright Macintosh. Because she also became an Apple.
I have never celebrated Thanksgiving in my life, and yet I still felt like this story had the right feel for what it was. And honestly, I kinda wish this was an actual episode of the show. You bringing in all these characters and having them interacting in the way that matters made for a short sweet story.
However, if I would give some honest criticisms, then I felt like I wanted a bit more interaction between all of them, the story passed by a bit too quickly in my opinion, and some pieces of dialogue felt a bit too...expositiony. For instance
A part of that sentence feels like it should have somehow been prose rather than dialogue. If I wrote it, it feels like this would feel a bit more natural.
But that's just a minor nitpick. This was a good read, and you deserve a like from me.

Really good slice of life story I wish was a real episode, except for one thing. Have you ever heard of "show, don't tell"? Not going to lie, this story is very tell-y. However, this story has a lot of potential.
