Villhiem and I crawled our way into Golden Oaks' basement. We had just started to make our way up the basement stairs when the door creaked open.
<<Oh, it's just you two.>> Yomega sighed. <<What'cha here for?>>
<<Abes this time.>> Villhiem stated. <<Do we need to wake him up, or is he semi-conscious at the moment?>>
<<No, You'll need to...>> Yomega frowned. <<... Go get Spike. Leo, stay with me.>>
Villhiem and I shared a look before Villhiem slunk off into the library. Yomega brushed past me, cautiously descending the stairs. I was about to ask what was wrong when it happened.
A crack of displaced air, then muffled cursing and the clattering of supplies came from the broom closet as the door rattled in its frame. With a second crack, a mostly dark yellow humanoid fox creature with brownish gray shoulder and chest armor with a ring of the same color near the end of its thick tail appeared, facing the rattling door.
<<I got it!>> I yelled, crouching to start my Extreme Speed.
<<Leo, wait!>>
The creature raised a clawed, hand-like paw out at me. "Casey..." It seemed to yawn. The world looked like a pulse had rippled out from it's hand, a ring of distortion passing over everything. I began my charge...
... And promptly face planted. I flopped around while I tried to untangle my legs. <<Fuck! Shit! Goddamnit!>> I finally managed to get to my paws. <<I'mma beat that thing into the floor!>> I snarled. I tried to charge, only to be reunited with the floor. <<Fuck!>>
<<What did you do to Leo?!>> Yomega barked.
The Abra tilted it's head as the door swung open. A voice called out from within. "Check it out, I think I heard fighting."
<<Mitome rareta.>> A pair of somethings monotoned before two interlocking gears with identical, odd faces taking up one side floated from the darkened closet. <<Senzai-tekina teki ga kenshutsu sa remashita.>> One gear stated. <<Engējimento.>> The other replied.
Both Yomega and my eyes widened. We couldn't understand a lick of what it was saying, but we both clearly understood what the sparks of electricity dancing across the thing's body meant. "Giaru." They monotoned as lightning lanced out, just barely missing us as I got my legs under me. <<Seikaku-do bekutoru o sai keisan suru.>> Electricity began sparking again.
I bolted forward, teeth glowing as I jumped for the floating gears. Yomega slammed into the Abra, a shimmering panel springing into existence just before he impacted it. I felt my teeth sink into the metal of the Klink.
Odd. I kept biting as folded myself around the Klink's edge for a better grip. I didn't think that steel could be this soft. Suddenly, I was spun into the space where the gears met. I clenched my jaw tighter in a pain reflex, which caused me to be spun through the space again. I let go and was flung back to the stairs. <<Oh, I have become error...>> I groaned. I looked to see how Yomega was faring, watching him rush forward to repeatedly Tackle the Abra, Barriers appearing to negate some of the damage.
"WHAT IS GOING ON DOWN HERE?!" I looked up to see Twilight glaring into the room from the top of the stairs, Villhiem, Zann, Moon Dancer and Spike standing behind her.
"Porter, Gemini, hold!" The voice called from the closet. The Abra and Klink floated back to the door.
<<Hoji tejun no kaishi. Hōrudingu.>>
<<Oh, shut up.>> I growled.
"Whoever is down there had better come out and call off your summons!" Twilight threatened.
"Alright, alright, just give me a sec to get this mop off of me..." Said mop clattered to the floor as an effeminate orange stallion with a two-tone brown mane stepped out, straightening his lab coat. He looked to be slightly taller then Twilight, yet rail thin. "Terribly sorry about that, teleportation and I don't get along very well." He looked over to his summons, noting the bite marks on the one gear. "I'm also sorry for the actions of my Casey and Giaru. The tend to be a little overprotective of me." His eyes scanned the group in front of him as the Abra floated onto his back. "I must say, I've never seen such summons before! What are they?" He asked.
Twilight's horn lit up as she carried Yomega and I over to herself. "They're not. They are a previously unknown species from the Everfree."
"Oh, darn." He sighed, before rapidly shaking his head. "Sorry, sorry, mustn't get distracted! My name is Runic Gears, from Canterlot University, and I'm terribly sorry for the intrusion. Could you be as so kind as to tell me if I've appeared in Manehatten? I need to meet a Mayor Mare there to discuss the recent bakery fire..." He trailed off with a nervous grin.
Twilight and Moon Dancer shared a look. Moon Dancer spoke up. "You're in Ponyville, but I think you may have your information mixed up." Just then, another Abra cracked into existence. A note floated from it to Runic. After he took it in his own magic, the second Abra disappeared in another crack.
Runic read the note before folding it up and tucking it into a pocket. "Terribly sorry, I've been slightly out of touch with the world at large. I had just finished up my latest experiment when Headmaster Brain Pan told me I was needed, well, here." He smiled. "It seems Head Scratcher, the Dean of the Summoner's Circle of Canterlot University, tried to get around my Displacia by deliberately sending me somewhere other than here, and I'm rambling, aren't I?" We all nodded. "Right, I'll be leaving for Mayor Mare's then, if you would kindly show me the way...?" He smiled.
"... What's 'Displacia'?" Spike asked.
"Oh, just a slight allergy to teleportation." Runic explained. "I just get scattered off course, but the scatter is worse the further I meant to teleport."
"Alright." Twilight sighed as we all turned to leave. "First, we'll need to leave my basement."
"Not a problem, and thank you!" Runic beamed. I saw the Abra's eyes slightly glow. With a pop, we all winced as another mop clattered from the broom closet. "Problem!" Runic's voice called out from the closet. "Thank you, Porter. Please just follow me for now."
As he made his way back up the stairs, Moon Dancer asked, "So, I assume you're here to look into the summon that caused the fire?"
"Oh, no." He shook his head. "The University is sending somepony else to look into that. I'm here to continue teaching the fillies known as the Cutiemark Crusaders. Brain Pan felt that was of a higher priority."
"Why's that?" Twilight inquired.
"They each summoned and controlled a powerful Water type summon, and of the highest tier of their families, I might add!" Runic smiled. "Those fillies have amazing potential. I fully expect them to go far within the Circle. Assuming they join the University, of course."
"Of course." Twilight sighed. "Moon Dancer, could you watch over the library? I think I may be needed at the Mayor's office." She turned to her assistant. "Spike, could you get a side room ready?"
"For what?" He asked. Twilight just pointed at Zann, who held a Party Popper in his mouth with a manic grin. "Oh."
After Twilight had left with Runic, Moon Dancer turned to go back into her study. Spike opened a side door into a bare room, where Pinkie was already setting things up. Zann lobbed his Popper, shooting a spark to light it's fuse. The Popper flew over Pinkie's shoulder as she stepped out of the room, closing the door behind her. After a muffled bang, Pinkie reopened the door to continue her work in the half decorated room, while Zann rejoined Moon Dancer.
Yomega left with Spike, both shaking their heads. I nudged Villhiem into Moon Dancer's room.
<<So, what'd she find out?>>
<<I'm a Mutis Enigmus Eevee Ignus now!>> He hopped in place, a tray of cupcakes beside him. <<I also have an abnormally high core temperature, and I can snort smoke from my nose!>> Twin puffs came from said orifice. He chomped down on a cupcake. <<I need to eat a lot more food though.>> He sprayed. Swallowing, he continued. <<I think Villhiem and I swapped appetites!>>
<<Good to know.>> Villhiem said, pulling me away. <<We're here for Abes, is he still in bed?>>
<<Yup!>>
<<Okay, then. Have fun.>> We left the room, heading for the stairs. We quickly made our way into Twilight's room. Villhiem used his vines to open the closet. Pushing aside some curtains that had been installed on one side, he caused the sunlight from the window to land on the sleeping Abes' face.
It wasn't long before he stirred. "The fug ya wan'?" He yawned with a sleepy stretch.
"You awake enough to talk?"
"I am now..." Abes growled. "What 'bout?"
"My reoccurring monkey dream." I interjected.
"Oh." He yawned again, rolling onto his back.
"Could you look into any books about dream symbolism for us?" Villhiem asked. "Could you also inquire to Luna for her opinion?"
"I've already did th' second one." Abes stretched. "Back when ya first told us 'bout it. Luna can't find our dreams."
I blinked. "That's not disconcerting at all...."
"Mmhmm." Abes nodded. "I'm off tonight, I'll look into yer book thing then. Close the door on yer way out?"
"Will do." Villhiem promised.
After closing the closet door, we made our way back to Zann, and spent the day just talking.
I was making my way home from the library, I didn't feel up to partying tonight. On my way through town, I felt something, almost a gut feeling, pull me into the park. I decided to follow this feeling, just to see where it would take me.
I had nothing better to do, after all.
I found a crying Silver hiding in a secluded bush. For some reason, I decided to lie down in front of her, waiting for her to notice me.
It took her a few minutes, but eventually she looked up. She jumped when she saw me.
"What?" She sniffed. "Come to bite me like you did with Thunderlane?" I flinched, before lowering my head to giver her my best attempt at Baby-Doll Eyes. She lay her head back down onto her hooves. "I'm sorry, that wasn't called for." She apologized. "I'm also sorry for what Tiara and I did to Zann."
I shuffled around to lean against her side. <<If it's any consolation, Zann's forgiven you.>>
Silver reached a hoof out, tentatively petting me. Once she realized that I wasn't going to snap at her, she pulled me close. I could hear her sniffling as she kept petting me. "Did you know, I stopped being friends with Tiara today?" She said at length. "Now that I've done that, I don't know what to do. Tiara and I basically grew up together, she felt more like a sister to me than a friend. But now...
"Now I feel like I don't even know her anymore." She looked down at me. "And it hurts. It hurt having to break away from her. It hurt when I made the choice to stay with Tiara when I realized how little I knew her, long before we tried to summon that thing. I feel like that there's a hole in me, and I don't know who to turn to to help. And now it hurts that I'm all alone."
We locked eyes. I felt something, a connection with the pony in front of me. I felt like something was drawing something from the two of us. And I felt that she felt it too.
We let the feeling guide us, and we sang.
We sung away her pain. We sung a prayer for guidance. My ear twitched as the last notes died away.
"It came from over here, Scoots!" It seems her prayer was answered.
I poked my tail out of the bush even as Silver tried to pull further in. Soon, three fillies were looking in on us. Silver held me up like a furry shield. I just waved.
"Hey, Silver." Sweetie spoke up. "You okay in there?"
"I'm fine." She sniffed. "Why do you care?"
The Crusaders shared a look before crowding under the bush. They gently pressed themselves up against the distressed filly. Sweetie took the lead. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Silver broke down crying as she pressed her muzzle into my fur. "Tiara an' I broke up!"
"Not how I would've phrased it..."
It's close enough. I sighed. I listened as Silver cried her troubles and her apologies to the Crusaders. I'm going to be stuck here all night, at this rate. I smiled. It's worth it though...
"Crap! Hey! Focus here! Rainbow's going to be worried if she gets home and we're not there or the Daycare. Your job here's done, let's just go home, okay?"
I guess you're right, Brain. I untangled myself from the fillies. Stretching, I made to leave.
I stopped when a hoof was placed onto my back. "Hey..." Silver gave me a very small, sad smile. "Thank you."
I gave her my own smile. <<No problem!>> Turning, I bolted from the bushes at a reasonable pace. Ya know something, Brain? Silver's not that bad of a filly. She just needs a chance to grow.
"Sure she does. Now let's pick the pace up. Ya know, make sure our legs are still working?"
Good point.... I blurred the rest of my way home. One thing was for sure: today had given me plenty to think about.
Agreed
i'm loving this story and take these frequent updates as a blessing to be charrished
E-M-T-U, not E-T-M-U. It seems to be a common misspelling, I haven't a clue why. (It's just a phonetic spelling of "M2", an abbreviation of an old username I used probably 15 years ago.)
I would love it if someone summoned an eevee. Just because it would drive Twilight crazy. Having her try to figure out how a summon is not a summon and once again throwing everything she thought she knew out the window.
8977138
I'll think about it. Would an Absol be alright to have around the town?
I have a suspicious that the red message from Leo was the Element of Royalty, somehow, speak through her. Does this mean the Evees become something like a psudo-Elements of Harmony?
8977268
A bunch of us have talked about it a lot over the chapters, especially since some of the evolved forms don’t sound like their English name (Eievui sounds like Eevee, but Booster is nothing like Flareon), but since Emtu’s Runic Gears, who is a member of the Summoners Circle, and presumably knows a lot about summons has never seen them before or even heard of them... granted there’s like 700+ now and you can’t be expected to know every summon since I’m sure they find new ones from time to time...
8977282
Oh hell no, it wouldn't. If it follows the Show and Pokedex Logic for them, then any area they are in is cursed and will eventually be destroyed, probably around the same time everyone starts dying.
Absol is a very bad choice to be in any town.
8977364
In other words, think of the different members of the Circle like the different Professors from Pokemon, each with their own specialty and focus, such that while they all may be aware of some very, Very common "families", they have to refer to the other Profs. if they run across something they aren't familiar with?
According to the Bulbapedia about Eevee:
Looking further down the page to where it tells you how to get one in the different games, if you don't trade with another player, they're all almost exclusively given to you by NPCs, hatched as an Egg given to you by an NPC, or found wild in "Protected" or hard to reach areas. This tells me that even in Urban areas they're fairly uncommon enough unless they're already attached to a trainer or companion, so if Equestrians only summon "Wild" pokemon, then it makes sense that the Equestrian Summoners wouldn't know about the Eievui Family of Summons.
8977417
You. I like you.
8976691
*facehoof*
Thank you. I've been mixing up those words so much lately, even though I know what they mean.
8977374
Firered/Leafgreen dex:
Literally NONE of the dex entries say the area is cursed and everything will be destroyed. They do keep repeating the same thing- it can fortell disasters and appears to warn people. Let's be honest, an Absol would practically LIVE in Ponyville at that point.
8977594
Now see, this brings up a bit of an 'Issue' with how you play it out. Does the Disaster bring the Absol, or does the Absol bring the disaster? Either way, it doesn't matter. Because if an absol is there, a natural disaster WILL happen. And since no one can speak Absol, they usually suffer greatly from that disaster. Because of this, Absol is a 'Cursed' pokemon, and any town/place it hangs around is a 'Cursed' place, because it means that place will be destroyed very soon.
And while the pokedex does say 'It senses impending disasters', implying the Disaster brings the Absol, remember that the Pokedex is written by humans who love pokemon like Professor Oak and don't like seeing Pokemon in a bad light, and most likely basing the entry on only 1 experience with the pokemon.
Second, without clear comunication from the pokemon, and a lie detector as well, how would they even know information such as that it senses the impending disasters, and not that it BRINGS the impending disasters?
But like I said, either way it's a cursed pokemon, that curses anywhere it stays too long with a Disaster.
8977606
Oh for the love of- IT DOESN'T BRING THE DISASTERS. IT JUST WARNS OF THEM. Hell, if anywhere they hung out was cursed, the world would be decimated as they eventually ran out of spots. Quit twisting the words of the dex, and do your own research. In the manga, for example, during the R/S and the ORAS arcs, it's clearly stated Absol sensed the impending disaster and came to warn of it, and possibly help out if it could- and it did help out a little both times. In other dex entries, they usually hang out in the mountains because people like YOU keep saying they bring the disasters and not warn of them. A disaster is NOT guaranteed because there is an Absol there, quit being stupid with that line of thought. Be smarter and have some common sense, if Absols were the root cause of the disasters or guaranteed them everywhere they went, there either wouldn't be any Absols anymore or there wouldn't be a PLANET anymore.
Also, the communication with pokemon argument is crap too while I'm at it. Red and Blue Rescue Team- recruited Absols are constantly talking about fighting off disasters. In the games, they're mostly either found congregated in areas where disasters have happened or are about to happen. Hell, even the origins of the name says this:
Seriously, why do you even remotely believe that Absol is the cause of the problems, when everybody- in universe and out- says otherwise.
8977374
Really. -.- Absol is not cursed.
8977594
A whole pack of them would live in Ponyville before the second season.
I think leo might be a espeon maybe a glaceon
8977721
2 Things. First, the Pokedex info isn't FACT. And the show and Manga only deal with a VERY small number. A couple dousen at most. There are THOUSANDS, if not MILLIONS of each time of Pokemon, all over the world, and even Legendaries have many hundred copies all over the world too, and they are super unique. A tiny little sample size isn't going to be the base for the ENTIRE Species.
After all, going by that logic then Hypno and Drowsy are all mass murdering pokemon, along with most ghost pokemon. And there have been canon show episodes about Ghost pokemon wanting to murder the main cast, like the Lantern pokemon.
Second, I bring up a valid point. Unless the pokemon can specific speak english and says something close to "I sensed danger and came to warn people" Or something like that, then you are only ASSUMING that it's drawn by Disaster, and doesn't BRING the Disaster. You're also assuming it doesn't have control over how, when, or why it brings Disasters if it does have that ability.
Either way, it would be an interesting story plot, delving into that concept. Does the Disaster bring it, or does it bring the disaster? But if you just straight up come out with 'It goes to the Disaster only, not bring it', then there isn't much inherit conflict, and it can literally be any other pokemon subsituted in. Might as well have it be a Magicarp.
The ponies think of summons as tools and not living creatures.
Also are the summons put under mind control by the summoning spells.
That is the only way I could understand an empoleon and blastoise listeening to a bunch of fillies.
Or will we find out that the summons are actually inferior copies of pokemon that are no match for the real thing.
8977983
8977721
8977729
Regardless of whether or not Absol cause or warn of disasters, you're both forgetting about the pony side of things. This is a fimfiction site, after all.
Ignoring my story for now, cannon has clearly established that ponies can, with the right cutiemark, understand animals. (Fluttershy, anyone) Who's to say that there isn't a pony that can understand poke-speak? That could be the plot of an entire story: a pony finds an Absol, and they both try to figure out the Absol's relationship with 'disaster'.
And, regarding my universe here, an Absol would only be in Equestria as a summon, (unless a being as powerful as Discord or the Princesses pulled some sort of shinanegings) in which case, the Absol is just following instructions. Ergo, it's disaster ability, predicting or otherwise, wouldn't matter to the same degree it would in the poke-world.
As a final, side note, I think that there was a pokemon movie that covered this in universe, but I can't be sure. If anyone could find that out, I would be much obliged.
8977983
And you just shot yourself in the foot... If the pokedex info isn't based on fact, then you can ignore the disaster thing altogether, since you LITERALLY HAVE NO REASON TO ASSOCIATE ABSOL WITH DISASTERS THEN. For all you know, it could be in the wrong place at the wrong time. A tiny sample size? Look at what you're saying. Look at the professors, Oak especially. They don't just stop at observing one pokemon one time, that would be a horrible practice for scientists. Hell, the dex entries being vastly different shows their own research, not constantly copying the same thing over and over- and Absol's being consistant shows that EVERY. SINGLE. PROFESSOR. Came to the same conclusions about Absol- not just one.
Yes, of course some will be biased by local legends, stories, or maybe they've observed something different- some of the dex entries clearly reflect that. However, it could also mean they are cautionary tales based on the worst events that HAS been observed, and unless you can prove it one way or another, there's no point in saying the dex is completely true or completely false, you'd throw out the arguments on both sides. Instead, realize the dex has nuggets of information to teach what they do know about the species and provide fun and sometimes horrifying facts based on what has been observed to the best of the professors abilities. Not. One. Of the professors have once seen Absol be the cause of disasters, nor has the local legends definitely proven that they are, and the evidence AGAINST them being the cause is staggering when you look at all the available context in the games, anime, manga, and so on. There is ZERO evidence that Absols themselves are the causes.
Second, again, two games where it directly says it's actively fighting against disasters to you in pretty much all its flavor text- WHILE YOU ARE A POKEMON AND CAN UNDERSTAND IT 100%. Two different arcs of the manga where it proved itself as not being the one causing the disaster to two reporters and helping them to find it, figure it out, spread the word it was coming, and actively fight it. The main anime- there is an entire episode dedicated to showing Absol was trying to warn a town about a flood, it actively helped them to prevent it once they figured that out. Jirachi: Wish Maker- again, helping the heroes out in a time of crisis. Literally EVERY pokedex entry says it can foretell disasters.
Quit being blind, quit being stubborn. There is literally one case where you could even REMOTELY say Absol was going to cause a disaster, and that's the four in the Arceus movie attacking Arceus... But the problem with that example is they were under control of the villain of the movie and being told to attack Arceus. That's literally it. Last I checked also, if disasters followed Absol like a plague, then everyone who has an Absol would be absolutely fucked and probably dead, yet characters like Drew, Astrid, Magnus, and Lusamine aren't being hunted down as wanted criminals for bringing a fucking chain of disasters everywhere they go.
In short, your whole argument is based on the assumption that all Absols are cursed to bring disasters wherever they go, and yet there's a mountain of evidence proving otherwise by virtue of their existence alone- and the fact you had to contradict your own opening argument by saying the pokedex could be false shows that either you see how flawed that argument is too or you're trolling too hard to care at this point. Either way, if you still believe the crap that Absols cause disasters, there isn't any helping you and I'm just going to stop arguing, because honestly, you're too stubborn, too short sighted, or don't care about the actual debate and just want to be right no matter what - in which case I'm not going to be able to convince you short of word of god, and maybe not even then. You'll just ignore the mountain of evidence, the lack of your own, the contradictions you're making, and keep going, so I refuse to keep going if that's the case.
8977983
8978100
Not entering the argument, but both of you please either simmer down or take this to PMs... I'm sure Symphonicdysonince doesn't appreciate this escalating like it has.
8977731
Ya know, I would love to see an Absol in Ponyville. It would just be so thematic, what with the normal shinanegings the cmc typically get up to, plus the normal occurences caused by the Everfree....
8978137
That and the constant disasters and near disasters would likely drive one completely up the wall...
hey good chapter am most confused about the red text tone... is it supposed to be like demon voice or something?
8978066
Okay, I'll have to look for another pokemon to use. Only because you made it clear that it's a summon only in your story.
8978137
So it's okay for the Absol? Guess I can have him/her (I haven't picked which gender yet) live with Lyra and BonBon. I'll blame Discord for dropping the Absol there for giggles.
8978272
Just sent ya a pm about this, but, with fewer words, use one if ya want, it's you're story.
8978272
8978316
Not like an Absol in Ponyville would be particularly out of place, the town is disaster-prone as heck.
The pokemon I'ed like to see are Mawile, Riolu, Fennekin, Alolan Vulpix/Ninetails, and Rowlet. the only place I can thing of Mawile fitting in would be "Dragon Quest" and the Alolan Vulpix/Ninetails would best be placed in the Crystal Empire. The Riolu, Fennekin and rowlet I got nothin' for.
8976489
I'm pretty sure that resistance to frictional heating and drag kind of falls under "required secondary powers" when using ExtremeSpeed or quick attack, why would Leo need to learn Barrier?
spotted this story a while back and finally decided to start reading it today
I have to say, this is a pretty good story and I wish there was more to binge... although if there WAS more I might have ended up staying up way too late...
8978706
Resistance is not immunity, and Leo has already learned that Super Speed does not equal Super Air Friction Resistance via when she performed a belly-slide down Sugarcube Corner's stairs banister back in Reacting to the Unforeseen. before entering an extreme speed, and the air resistance aggravated the carpet burn she gave herself during said banister slide...
Being able to perform Extreme Speed doesn't negate the air resistance acting on her, it only allows her to bully her way through it more readily than the Eevees who can only do Quick Attack.
8979583
okay, I forgot about that part, good point
8978316
8978272
Yes Pokemon are summon only, but by the rules Symph has established, if the summon circle is damaged then the summon is basically free and is only dispelled if it the body is “no longer intact” which, If I’m remembering the previous examples right, means it can still take a limited amount of damage. Or, considering the whole “disaster Pokemon” thing, if the Absol is summoned and something happens to the summoner shortly after but the circle itself remains intact... Example, summoner is doing some “unlicensed” study somewhere they don’t want to be found, like a cabin somewhere, summons Absol, and something happens to the summoner right afterwards. Maybe they’re caught by guards who don’t know about the summon, maybe a beam falls and they’re down for the count. The summon is basically free so long as The circle is intact and no one knows about it. Then, wandering the world, they’re found by someone who doesn’t know about summons. Bam! Supposed “new” species in the world, heralding disaster or what have you.
8978260
The Eevee are occasionally driven by the element of their “trainers”. Leo’s red matches the color of Loyalty, which is Rainbow’s. Cy and Vince had glowing orange eyes when channeling Honesty. Leo once thought Connor, who is with Fluttershy, was getting pink eye when being especially Kind, etc.
Their memory is a little fuzzy afterwards, because it’s not entirely them speaking.
8980203
oh so it's the Loyalty voice? that make's a bit more sense than demons and such (totally not backtracking or anything) anyway good chapter like i said last comment
8980192
You'd think that something like that might have happened in the past, though, and that there would be some way to test if a "new" species were actually a summon and not in fact native to the world. Not particularly frequent, but common Enough for amateur biologists to test any new species they find, and thus something Twilight would have done to the Pack in the first week and therefore reinforcing her belief that the Eevee's are in fact a new species and not a Summon as she so adamantly corrects the Prof. in the most recent chapter without even giving it consideration, because while Twilight may not be a professional Summoner, you can d well bet that she studied Summoning Theory and what can go wrong in minutia before she even started teaching the CMC officially.
It would serve both to reinforce her belief that the Eevee's aren't summon, and serve for excellent entertainment as her mind locks up and grinds to a halt when someone finally manages to summon an Eievui.
Looking over the Google doc just now I noticed something mildly interesting: all of the confirmed surnames for the Eevees are plays on the names of figures from the King Arthur legend...
8981872
Early on, from like the first summon chapter, I said that, were they to summon an Eievui or one of that family, Twilight’s freakout about the Eevee would lead her to one of two conclusions: that they were descended from a summon that was around long enough to breed, and far enough back that they were naturalized from Eievui to Eevee, or that they didn’t know they were summons because of what they (read: ponies) had been told (read: lies) about where they were from, and that there were active circles for them somewhere in Equestria.
Twilight knows for a fact that they aren’t summons from broken circles because of Zann, and has no reason the believe them to be ones because they act autonomously and have said through Fluttershy that they’re from the forest, which, being the Everfree, is why she assumes they are an undiscovered species.
The really curious thing from my perspective is that so far only the summons and the Eevee constantly say their name to speak, but no one has questioned for certain that they are/aren’t summons.
8982599
Congratulations! You have found the pattern.
Okay, so I just have to say, I found this story yesterday and I couldn't put it down until the battery in my phone ran out. This is really really good and I'm looking forward to the rest of it.
Hey all, just putting this here to let everyone know that, while not reformatted how I want, the google doc is finally up to date on it's information! I went through both the chapters and the comments to make sure I didn't miss anything others have caught. (I tried to credit everyone who helped, but if I missed someone, I am sorry)

Symphonic, I'm not going to put that thing I PM'd you about unless you say it's OK. I don't want to spoil anything if you're going to talk about it later.

It's gotten worse. Following Cy and Zann's evolution, we see in Dark Specialty that the statue has "twin cracks on its outstretched paw."

In the chapter where the Crusaders begin to learn summoning, Leo overhears Scoots tell the others that, following Shining Armor's promotion to Captain of the Guard, her mother Merry Weather is to be stationed in Ponyville and that they are moving into the Guard barracks.

As far part of why Leo would becoming Glaceon go, Rainbow's "20% Cooler" is actually kind of valid logic. Of course she gets the "coolest" one. Which, actually now that I think of it, back in the Running of the Leaves when Rainbow gives Leo her red collar, I compared it to the Red Scarf/Red Bandanna from the games which boost Coolness during contests. Because of course RD would have a Cool pet. But if it makes her cooler, maybe it also helps make her *cooler*. Y'know, on top of the other reasons. It's really just one more in the stack at this point.

Go ahead and put it in if you'd like. While I do plan on talking about it, it will most likely be spread through multiple chapters but only as references....

Seeing as how Extreme Speed is a priority move and Volt Tackle isn't, I don't think Leo'll be jealous. Cy, though....
That was sweet ...

it is funny how the new summoner teacher knows less about summons than the creatures being treated like pets.
I've noticed something the eevees are more like a watered down version of their respective bonds Lulu is dramatic like Rarity though in a more shy way, Zann is as random as pinkie pie but a little bit less unhinged (a little who knows he could get corrupted further), Leo is as loyal and reckless as Rainbow but lack her ego and ignorance, the Umbreon(hey I can't remember all the names give me a break) is kind of a justice seeking and less murderous version of nightmare moon, Yomega just reads and looks after the library instead of being obsessed with making it perfect and on the ones called the reckless duo I actually have nothing to be honest they seem to be the ones that changed the least except for having some rivalry with Leo and rainbow dash
Definitively Discord
Good chapter Who is in Leos head? Arceus?
