5475238 ...I shouldn't find that as funny as I do.
5475240 Definitely gave me some things to consider with your comments, thank you!
5476692 Defining the moral event horizon at this point is about as easy as finding the starting point on a really transparent roll of sticky tape.
5477213 She hasn't had them say trigger words to each other while they're awake, but back in the first chapter Twilight had a flap before she reread the charm enough times to convince herself 'Awaken' wouldn't work for just anyone, else there would have been an even bigger mess by now.
5477227 Now you know!
5478405 Twisexual. Best word. May have to be worked in.
5479978 Twilight's far too analytical not to be poking around how the spell works. She's a lot of fun to write.
She's still Rarity, just with a new perception. Which means that, fundamentally, her personality is unchanged, but the conscious part has been altered.
Does it truly matter? I mean, really? She's happy, she's herself (or at least, is convinced she is)... I'm a little more worried about AJ, tbh.
Real as in physically present? I guess the one right now. But the true Rarity is definitely missing. Twilight sure let herself be convinced that her hypno version of Rarity was capable of giving consent pretty easily.
Are you the real [insert name here], when you are in love, raging, using drugs or are infected by a parasite like Toxoplasma gondii?
You know what would be a really creepy ending? Celestia comes in, sees what Twilight has done, sighs and says she's disappointed, and then the fic ends with her saying Awaken, Twilight.
Honestly, the real Rarity is gone. Twilight has fucked around in her head so much that it's probably irreversible.
Odd that you mention this. Just the other day I was considering a similar philosophical question; "If you imagine a person scarred, wounded and disfigured or that same person healed and unmarred, which version is the true person?" I concluded the answer was whichever was currently true. If that person is wounded at the moment, that is their true self. Once they heal and you cannot so much as see a trace of that wound, then that is their true self.
The same applies here. As presented, Rarity's perceptions were changed; as in, they were not suppressed and given a new overlay such as it would in a less delicate form of mind control or possession. Thus, Rarity's current thoughts and actions are her own, acting on these new perceptions. Thus at this moment, this is the "true" Rarity. If her perceptions are changed again, then that is the true Rarity and if all those changes are redacted then what is left is the true Rarity.
Certainly not the current one, that's for sure, but the current model is a Rarity who deserves to exist just as much as the original does.
That's a tough one. I'd say that the Charmed Rarity is not the real Rarity. This Rarity has been artificially changed to act in a way incongruent with how she acted before. Even her sexuality has been transformed by Twilight's spell.

I think you may be subconsciously remembering 5477365's comment.
5487308
Definitely. Twilight's early work with the charm hasn't been very precise, and she's ended creating an AJ that is fundamentally broken. Rarity just 'knows' that she's a slave, and that it's normal to be enslaved. Applejack has been made to see Twilight as her entire world. Nothing else matters to Applejack when she's in a charmed state. I'm sure she'd kill her own family if Twilight commanded her to do so, and probably without too much fuss. The strong, independent mare that Applejack was has been utterly destroyed.
Rarity, on the other hand, is still mostly the same. Just more servile, which actually connects with her Talent/Element fairly well.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to the other Three of Five that haven't been charmed yet. Will they be less broken, because Twilight is more precise with her commands? Or will they be even more broken, as Twilight descends into greater depths of depravity, using more extreme commands?
I wonder what the Charm can do to intelligence? Can it make someone 'stupid', or 'smart', by changing their thought process? Twilight could probably make her friends super interested in books and learning (reading party!), or make one of them incapable of advanced independent thought (like turning Rainbow Dash into a 'dumb blonde bimbo' stereotype).
I'm worried about those dreams Twilight had. Might this be the way that the Princesses finally catch wind of what's going on? Maybe Luna avoids peeking in on sensual dreams to respect ponies' privacy, but what if she sees what Twilight's been dreaming about? Even if she isn't suspicious about how 'real' the fantasies are, would she try and talk to Twilight about these obviously obsessive feelings?
Sorry for the wall of text. this story is just really interesting and I love all the little elements you've put into it.
5488506 Your mention of Luna possibly entering Twilight's dream just makes me imagine Twilight using the spell on her and changing her in the dream without even realizing she's done it to the actual Luna. Admittedly though I'd rather the authorities stay out of this until Twilight has a little more fun!
5487497
Fireflutterpony (I think) had the same idea, which I quite liked. :)

Twisexual was inspired by The Great Derpsby's "Twilight-sexual" comment. ^^
I actually am starting to see Spike or Celestia as the most likely way for Twi to click with the evil she's doing.
As for your philosophical question - I would pose that the original Rarity is the real one, but that Twilight owes her VERY good care and affection until she can get her back. And then her own head on a silver platter.
To answer your question. There is no such thing as a "real" Rarity. You and I both change every moment of our life. Each secound there is a different "You" standing there. It would be more accurate to say the Rarity before she got enchanted as Rarity 1 and the current one Rarity 2.
given the circumstances , pre charmed rarity is the real one , once the charm is broken supposedly all their programing will revert to normal , so yeah....
5488506
My first instinct was to agree, but thinking about it I have to disagree. The current Rarity is the real one, she just happens to be... well, essentially, she's insane. Her thoughts, memories, and perceptions are changed against her will by a force outside her control. The same could happen if she developed a chemical imbalance resulting in schizophrenia.
5490424
Did we ever get any hints that reversing it is even possible? It appears pretty resistant so far.
5487301
The above note actually reminds me of a scene I always wanted to put into a MC story I'd planned for years now, but kinda forgot. Thank you for reminding me with your wonderful story!
If you want to read the idea, it's this:
The controler (Snips) is helping Rarity with her fabrics. She's very disappointed when they come across a dress stained with magic dye, something he can't understand. She can just wash it, right? Then she tell him that no, some magic leaves stains that never come out again. Snips, who's been hypnotising some ponies in his class for the past few days—always under the assumption that he can just un-hypnotise them—feels a slight onset of panic. What if the magic won't come out of his victims' minds either..?
5490981 no there hasn't been , i think that was the point of twi getting this project from celestia (that is how this started right? i don't even remember anymore lol) to figure out how the thing works and how to negate it.....
Oh! I totally forgot to mention in my last comment;
I really loved the way you did the foot worship scene, Wintermist. It really fit the situation well, and cemented the idea that Rarity is absolutely subservient to Twilight now (because the 'normal' Rarity would never do something so unladylike as licking somebody's feet).
5490981
I suppose that makes sense.
5491827
Re-reading the first chapter, it would appear that Twilight found the spell-book in the old ruined castle of the Royal Pony Sisters. Or at least, a ruined old castle, not necessarily the ruin.
5494532 ah k , there's other fics where it's celestia that sends twilight a task to do something with something that ends up brainwashing/slutifying all the ponies around.....
5494532 Well, you did win its inclusion! The reminder of the hoof kissing scene certainly helped. Twilight did indeed find the charms book in the ruined castle of the pony sisters.
5515747
Jeez, someone really should clear out Luna's "villainous plots and related magics" bookshelf.
Prediction for later chapters: Twilight eventually revealed he whole mind control thing to the rest of the mane 6 and does what she did to Rarity.
Deadline for next chapter: sunday at the latest!
5557137
Sweet
normally i don't like clop yet I am highly tempted to check it out. Wait a minute...
>Story about hypnosis
>Feeling of morbid fascination.
>Inexplicable desire to read said story
You bastard!
5557137
It's basically always a bad idea to set deadlines like that for yourself, but if this one does happen, cool, and if it doesn't, that's just fine, it's not as if we know what's going on in your life.
5570049 You make a good point! I just knew I'd have some hours uninterrupted this Sunday to get writing done.
5558950 Any inexplicable mind control related incidents are purely coincidental, author claims no responsibility, etc, etc.
Bah, Rarity's foot fetish. Overall, I'm not a foot fan, and even if I was, I'm closer to paws than feet. Either way, it's still fitting for Rarity, I suppose. I mean, considering that scene with Princess Celestia...
To the philosofical Question. There are multiple ways to see it.
1. Both are real just with a slightly shifted mindset but at the core the same.
2. The current Rarity is the real one because she is on the lead.
3. And now it gets dark. You could technically say that Twilight killed the old Rarity to create a new one thus there are two Rarities. However only one can exist at a time whilw both are their own Person. So to revive the one you need to kill the other leaving you in a dead end were you can't make the right decision. And that is why you don't fuvk with memorie altering
6144744 I don't know about killed the original, but certainly Twilight metaphorically bludgeoned her over the head and stuffed her in a closet.
5823341 She's a boot licker, except in this case, she didn't wait for the boots.
I did not expect to like this story. Also, Accomplice Rarity was my favourite character so far. Hopefully Slave (maid?) Rarity will live up to that.
Both, else neither, unless Accomplice/Slave Rarity is a dissociated identity. This doesn't seem the case, as what I'm seeing so far is altered states; if I were to become drunk or horny or I were to forget something, it wouldn't make me a different person.
You know what the worst part of this chapter is? It made me question what I would do if I somehow ended up in a situation like Twilight's here... And I'm not sure which way is more "right." And that makes me feel like a monster.
... Yes.
*ahem, ahem ahem... Cough, cough cOuGh!!* https://www.fimfiction.net/story/58509/11/a-silver-sky-four-little-ponies/
6428109 I found myself asking the same question and i might have some really dark fantasies. But i don't think having that kind of fantasies are bad, considering that there is little-to-no chance of being in the same situation twilight is into right now. I guess what i'm trying to say is that all people have their fetish/fetishes and that you shouldn't feel like a monster because you're not... i've encountered people that have wayyyy weirder kinks....
A more pertinent question: Where lies the difference between mind control and rape? Without the mind control would they have consented? That's an important thing to note. If not then congrats Twilight, you're a rapist.
Oh, Twilight, if Rarity really does love you, than she'd still ask you if the spell was removed.
The sequel dropping got me rereading this for the mmphtimth time. Hot sex and philosophy of mind. Damn, you know how to hit all my right buttons. Mmph, sexy, sexy philosophy.
6728235 She's definitely a rapist.
I'm probably a bit late on commenting, but anyway~
I'm slowly working my way through this fic, have been for a while. I think the main reason I love it is I see so much of myself in Twilight and her slooow corruption. You've written her slippery slope and deepening perversion marvelously!
I try not to have clop stories like this on my ordinary read it later list. Instead, they go on a hidden, "other" list, and on that list there are twelve stories, including this. If this was nothing but mindless fucking with minimal story, I would have dumped it at chapter one. Instead, it actually has a good/compelling plot. Story plot, not asshole that people doing sex related thing grip hard, slap, and stick various objects up plot. I really shouldn't read this... BUT I DON'T CARE! Good story line.
OBVIOUSLY, the answer is the Rarity that was appalled that Twilight had AJ under a mind control spell.
BUT, lets analyze shall we?
Currently, we now have a Rarity serving Twilights every whim. While it MAY make Twilight feel better that this was by Rarity's request (And if this was true, My feelings would be admittedly mixed), the fact is that this request was made under influence. True, Twilight never ordered Rarity to start feeling the way she does towards Twilight, and it's entirely possible that she really did feel something of the like even before the enchantment, but the fact that Rarity is okay with being mind controlled is only due to Twilight TAKING control and ordering her to think nothing of this type of spell.
Now, if just for a moment, we were to assume that mind control didn't happen; that Twilight never ran across that book, and lets also assume that she and AJ somehow still "got together" and Rarity walked in on it (We're discussing Rarity here, not AJ). In this situation, while quite embarrassing, Rarity would have (probably) been fine with it. She may have even been supportive, and ended up still making the outfit for AJ. Lets even go so far as to say Rarity discovered dormant feelings towards Twilight. She did already state that she didn't find herself attracted to mares, so without mind control, the events taking place next would not have happened, and if at that point the spell became available and Rarity learned of it, she would have refused based on what it is: willing or not, it is mind control.
Lets face it, Rarity was only willing to be controlled BECAUSE she was already under the spells influence; only okay with being controlled because her mind was altered to think mind control was no big deal.
And you cannot be your "True self" if what you do is being controlled by another.
I would even say this goes as far as if she really WAS okay with being mind controlled in the first place.
Again, lets assume that before the end of this chapter that Rarity was never under the spell, but knew Twilight did indeed know of such a spell, and without previous influence, requested to be controlled. In this situation, her "true self" WANTS to be controlled, but the moment she IS controlled, willingly or not, Rarity isn't Rarity anymore (Actually, that one MAY be debatable). BUT, in this particular situation, this raises the question as to whether it's wrong to do or not if they really want it. I'm not sure if I'm ready to open up THAT can of worms yet, so I'll leave it at that.
On one hand, Rarity was enraged with Twilight for putting a mind-control spell on Applejack, and she was hypnotized to believe that mind-control was no big deal.
On the other, rather than immediately hustling Applejack away to get help, Rarity told Twilight that they'd be having a 'serious talk', (now this is just conjecture on my part, but 'serious talk' could've meant she just might not have been as enraged as she let on) and unlike Applejack, (unless I missed something) Rarity's interest in Twilight that led her to actually ask to be controlled as AJ was, wasn't part of her altered mindset prior to this chapter.
Once more, the rationalizations are the most intellectually stimulating part of the story. Twilight is already too deep, and she knows herself well enough by now to realize that things will only escalate from here.
7559904
Rarity did try to coax Applejack to follow her away from the situation, I believe I recall.
Oh god, just as Rarity was slumbered after Twilight rewrote the sexual orientation of Rarity, the iHeartRadio channel I was listening to in the process switched to Chris Brown's 'I Feel Good'. Dear lord it fit too well.
